Look out for some on ebay sold by 'gobliiin'. I bought a set not long ago and they are perfect- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...97972%26fvi%3D1 There was a set on only a few days ago so I'm sure they'll be on again soon. G-out! -
It's been a while and I haven't got much further with the Sand Scorcher- I've been concentrating more on my larger projects! I have managed to strip and finally start repair work on the shell, however, the roof seems like it has seen better days and will need something drastic performing on it.... I have an idea of where I'm gonna go with it, and reckon it'll look pretty good when it's done. I have also painted the aluminium chassis to look more like the original.... In my absence, I have finished my Monster Beetle shell though, with only the wipers and door handles needing to be painted. .... it only needs the chassis cleaning up (Monster Beetle chassis that is) and new wheels then it'll be finished. Have a go at it yourself, I loved doing mine! I just read a few post on here and looked at the 'How to' and took my time with 'em. Have a scroll down here to see how they turned out. I'm happy, wish I had more! http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/thread/151756.aspx G-out!

No problem mate! What is it you're after? I have the jacket if you want/need any photos of it. Let me know, G-out!

I'd be up for buying a set too if you were to make any. I've bought 2 lots for my Monster Beetle recently- one crappy lot from the States, and one set (printed on white background) which were good quality, but printed on sticky-back paper!?! G-out!

Not the best pictures, but here you go: It's only about 6mm long. G-out!

I bought a Thunder Dragon body for my Hornet when I was young lad. If I remember right, it came with an aluminium spacer to put under the front mount to raise it. G-out!

I've just been in my local shop and saw this: ....and this: .... love the old stuff. G-out!

Hey Rob, finished the Monster Beetle driver the other night: .... did him the same way as my Scorcher driver, but with a bit of stubble. G-out!

Just finished my Monster Beetle driver: G-out! -
I've been having a play in Photoshop and came up with this..... More of an idea of what it might look like. G-out!

Hiya Mike, the website for the Baja can be found here under the 'SPECIALS' tab on the right.... http://www.volkswarenhaus.de/bugselecta.htm .... but then I used Photoshop to alter the colours and add the graphics. G-out!

Hiya Rob, what I do is is fully dip the brush then drip the paint onto a plastic pallet (a saucer would do). I do this about 4 or 5 times with the flesh colour then dip only half the brush into the brown and go from there. I wouldn't pour the paint because it's suprising how little you need. I started painting my Monster Beetle driver last night- the face and helmet are now finished.... he's gonna be a colourful fella! G-out!

Here's my Sand Scorcher driver.... G-out! -
Cheers Rob! I bought a selection of Tamiya paint pots from the local model shop, flesh and a dark brown included, and a No2 brush. All I used for the face was the flesh colour then mixed the smallest amount of brown for the slight shading, and then a little more for around the edges of the helmet. I painted the whole driver over a day, in between doing odd stuff around the house. All I need to do now is use a matt lacquer over all of it, and then a semi-gloss for the helmet. I've got another driver for my Monster Beetle to do- I'm looking forward to getting into it. Hope this helps a little. G-out!

Thanks a lot! I tried to make the front cage more like a bumper you would see on a real Baja racer (with a skid plate too), and steer away from the box art cage- thought it would be something different. G-out!

I started off with a Rough Rider chassis I bought a couple of months ago. I then stripped it down and thoroughly cleaned and regreased it replacing all the brass bearings with sealed pieces and all the screws for stainless items. I have so far replaced the radio box- with one in slightly better condition- and acquired a hump backed battery ( in which I have put 3300mAh cells) , along with other various small parts that needed replacing. I have since made new cages for both the front and rear. I've just finished painting the driver, and seeing as I'm a big VW nut he had to have an EMPI jacket. My Scorcher body shell arrived a couple of weeks ago from the States, and here it is stripped and ready for repair then primer. This is my plan so far for the finished paint- a nod in the direction of friend's ex-race car for the colour scheme. I'll post more pictures as I work my way through. Hope you like. G-out!

Yeh, Bug-selecta. Here's the address: http://www.volkswarenhaus.de/bugselecta.htm I've done a template with the decals on if anyone is interested? G-out!

No problem mate. It's not a perfect copy, but it'll give you soom kind of idea. G-out!

I'm currently deciding on a paint scheme for my Sand Scorcher and find this quite helpful: G-out!
