If you can make me a Wild Dagger chassis out of aluminum/graphite that has the same measurements as the 2 forward mounts of my 6x6 (made out of graphite I believe), I'll make you an even trade! Rather than cut up this nice piece of work (which is no longer made by Xtreme Racing), I would like to see if anyone else wants to tackle the project. Here are some pics: Thanks, James

Original Blackfoot Wheels & ClodBuster compatible?
yuckydog replied to yuckydog's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
That's too bad...oh well, I ordered some Traxxas dish wheels to hack so hopefully I actually finish my latest project. (Unlike my last 2 other projects!)[] Thanks for the info. -
Let me know the details and price. Thanks.

Wild TLT-Willy
yuckydog replied to simensays's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
That's great! All you had to do was attach the Willy body mount posts to the TLT frame? Were there existing holes to do so or did you have to drill your own? James -
Hi, not sure what else you may need but I've got a Wild Dagger chassis and tons of parts leftover from my 6x6 project (see the S.W.A.T. thread in the Mod Monster Trucks forum). Let me know if you'd be interested in them for a cheap price. [] James

Mammoth wheel mounting: I'm now calling it an LAV (Light Armored Vehicle) and you can see the bigger pics at http://www.yuckydog.com/~james/hobbies/lav/main.html. James

quote:Originally posted by TWINSETMKII Note cutouts in front of motor area for steering rods [!] James, that is sweet chap Did the TTR wideners fit straight on, or did their wheelnuts need 'adapting'? Is that the chassis InetRC posted up? id="quote">id="quote">Hey Andy, The TTR wideners bolted right on to the stock Dagger wheel hexes but the long reach nuts that came with them weren't long enough to fit the included washers AND screw onto the wheel axles so I bought the slightly thinner 4mm Tamiya Clamp Type hexes and now I can get the lock washer (still left off the regular washer) and get a better "bite" onto the wheel axle. I will take a closeup picture of the wheel and upload it soon. The chassis is a graphite one that was produced years ago by Extreme Racing I believe? I caught it on eBay for $9.99 so I jumped at the deal! Would be much cheaper than trying to custom make my own... James

Wow! What a small world...here's a project I've been slowly working on for the past 6 months: Bigger pics can be seen on my web page http://www.yuckydog.com/~james/ I've got Mammoth wheels and tires mounted on Thundertech Racing Clod Wheel Wideners using Tamiya's 4mm clamp type wheel hexes. I'm also working on making all 6 gearboxes steer but haven't decided if I should make it into an 8x8 with the 2 front gearboxes steering. The body will be made out of ABS plastic and will resemble the APC out of the movie "Aliens". More work to come! James

I'm actually using the Clod wheel wideners version 2 by www.thundertechracing.com and the stock plastic wheel hexes stick out by approximately 1.5mm so the 4mm clamp versions I just got off eBay should do very nicely. If it's too much I can use a washer to give it a little more clearance but I think the 4mm thick hexes should be perfect. My project is finally humming along and now I need to decide if I should make my 6x6 just front wheel steering or all wheel steering. [] James

Thanks guys, I'll check out the clamp style wheel hexes and if they won't work, I'll just shave my plastic ones down! James

Wondering if anyone knows of anybody who makes/sells "thinner" drive hexes? I'm using the stock Wild Dagger plastic ones and the metal Tamiya ones are the same thickness but I'm looking for some slightly thinner ones so that my long reach nuts get more of a grip on the wheel shaft. Thanks! James

I am looking for six (6) MF4 Front Body Stays from the Juggernaut 2 Metal Parts Bag F. Thanks! James

Check out Hitec's ESCs, I use them in my runners as they have reverse and are pretty cheap at $35-50. Speaking of which, I have an extra EZX-R Pro that's new in the box if you'd be interested. I bought 1 too many on my last order with Tower Hobbies and took too long to return it so I'm stuck with it. www.hitecrcd.com James

Best way to mount Clodbuster wheels on Wild Dagger
yuckydog replied to yuckydog's topic in General discussions
Update: I was ready to buy some Clod wheel axles, wheel hubs and wheel hexes when I discovered that they use 1260 bearings instead of the 1150 bearings installed in my Wild Dagger. Rather than try and figure out how I could bore out my plastic bushings, I decided to go for the Wheel Widener kits from Thunder Tech Racing (www.thundertechracing.com) as I spoke to them on the phone and they told me a few of their customers found success in using them to mount Clod wheels on the Daggers. Sooo, they are on order and if anyone is interested, I'll update this post one more time to let everyone know how it went. [] James -
Best way to mount Clodbuster wheels on Wild Dagger
yuckydog replied to yuckydog's topic in General discussions
Hi guys, I'm making a 6x6 APC that's inspired by the APC from the movie Aliens.[] Doesn't need to be a speed freak or a climber (since it will have limited suspension travel) but I want to be able to run it on pavement (should be no problem) and light off-road conditions such as dirt and gravel. Hmmm, if I'm going to need longer wheel axles anyway, I may be better off just getting some Clod wheel axles and wheel hexes, no? I'm looking to use the following to increase the stance of my project but will decide after I've gotten the wheels mounted in the first place: http://rc4wd.com/shop/product_info.php?cPa...products_id=549 James -
Best way to mount Clodbuster wheels on Wild Dagger
yuckydog replied to yuckydog's topic in General discussions
Thanks for the advice! I actually have the wheels and tires from the Mammoth kit and they should be a bit lighter than the Clod tires, no? I did some more research and if anyone with a Clod can verify for me, is the wheel hex on the Clodbuster the same size as the wheel hexes on the regular Tamiya cars and trucks? If so, I can just get a wheel widener to attach my Mammoth wheels and tires to my Dagger gearboxes. And to save my gearboxes, I can reduce the gearing by putting in a higher pinion gear as I'm not too concerned about top speed on my project... Thanks, James -
Any advice would be appreciated. If there is an adapter out there, I'd love to know! I'd rather not try to assemble all the Clod wheel mounting bits to do this so something cheap and quick would be great. TIA, James

Hi Jim, I've got all sorts of body mounts left over from a Wild Dagger project. Let me know if they will work and we can make a deal for them for cheap! Thanks, James

If you've got a Wild Dagger that's good for nothing but parts, let me know! Thanks, James
