My Wild Willy 2 really LOOKS where he's going!
yuckydog replied to yuckydog's topic in General discussions
2nd movie should work now, apparently I was over my quota so it didn't finish uploading. Seems Windows users will need to use WMP to view the movies but Mac users should have no problems with their QuickTime players. Also, please note that since the steering servo points down and the micro-servo inside Willy points up, you'll need a Y-connector with one side being reversed! If you use a regular Y-connector, Willy will turn his head *opposite* the way the wheels turned...which makes it look just plain stupid. [] (You can search for a "servo reverser" on the Tower Hobbies web site.) As for the wheels I used, if anyone wants to know the specifics of mounting hex wheels on the front, let me know and I will post the details. (I did this to keep the wheels and tires uniform instead of having narrower wheels and tires on the front.) James -

Hey DJ, I didn't have to cut the body at all, just hot-glued the micro servo into position inside the body cavity. Then I cut out a hole in the seat for the servo cable to go through. Finally I used a servo horn from the micro servo, cut it so it was just a round connector and screwed a flexible rod (from airplane controls) into the connector. The other end of the rod I soldered into a brass connector which I "melted" into the bottom of Willy's head. This way, if the head gets knocked off from a rollover, I can just re-insert it. As for the movies, they are QuickTime AVIs direct from my Canon S230 digicam so I'm not sure why they don't work as they play fine for me. I'll take apart the Willy this afternoon and take a picture of the setup inside his body. James -

Thanks for the compliments guys. [] I will try to get a movie of him turning his head uploaded tonight and also get a list of parts and components I used to do my modifications. James -
Just finished building my Wild Willy 2. It was built with teflon ball bearings, Stadium Blitzer wheels (rears on front and back using the other steering bell cranks on the plastic tree) with Pro-Line Dirt Hawg tires. I cut the body so that it would sit lower than it would normally sit and, best of all, I made it so Willy turns his head in the direction he's turning! I used a micro servo mounted inside his body and attached his head to the servo. Using a Y connector, I connected the steering servo and the micro servo to the same channel so when the wheels turn, his head turns. []

I won an auction from someone in Australia but discovered they do not accept PayPal. If you are located in Australia and could accept PayPal from me to pass on to the seller in Australian $, I'd appreciate it as it could move the transaction along faster and more safely than if I sent cash. I could pay you for the service. Thanks! James

I've also got brand new tub chassis, plastic tree parts and others from that same kit so let me know if you might be interested in anything else. Thanks, James

Hi, I've got a brand new complete set (all parts including resistors, hardware, wires, etc) that I saved from a parted out Clod kit I used for a project. Where are you located? Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours. []

The guy says it's similar to the Raider but I've never heard of it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3115339416

Body, wing and stickers for the Rocky? Thanks, James

Anybody have a NIB or mint one? Thanks, James

An original Wild Willy is better than the WW2?

The 240ST came standard with my Rocky so I'm sure it's not a super high-performance motor.

I just wanted to add that I've found a bunch of bearings (sealed with rubber and some are sealed with teflon) that I will give away if anyone needs the odd bearing! I will post what sizes I have available soon. -
Can you check with the shop and see if they have a Kyosho Rocky body? Thanks!

Who would be interested in custom parts?
yuckydog replied to CivicSiRacer's topic in General discussions
I may be interested. I need a custom chassis for a Clod modification I'm working on. Where is he located? James -
Saw an auction for these and was wondering how they work? It says it replaces the normal body posts... Anybody have the CRP body buttons installed and would like to share some pics? Thanks, James

Where at Willy? TamiyaUSA told me they had no plans of releasing the WC in the States so I'm looking to import it.
