  1. I think I saw another thread on here that said they were different. It might work if you drill different holes.
  2. Is a penguin bar anything like a Klondike bar?
  3. I don't expect everyone to agree with me by any means, but........ I had an E-Maxx for about a year and it was fun. IMO, they are kind of a pain in the butt to work on. There are a number of general upgrades needed for running stock. I broke: bulkheads, shocks and driveshafts. Also, my EVX (1) was kind of funny about working with some batteries. I liked my E-Savage better, but I recently traded it for a Super Clod. If you go brushless, you will really need to beef up the drivetrain.(assuming you have the older model, the new one is different) I think maxxes are very cool, but you have to sink some money into them before they're dependable.
  4. What I really need to do is save my money so I can go brushless.
  5. Seems kind of similar to these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXJ765&P=7 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...LXJ766&P=ML A couple guys on the RCMT Wheely King forum like these.
  6. Mine never see mud, but they do get very dusty.
  7. Yeah, the Super Stock is great, but they're about $40 USD. I might try to replace brushes when it needs them, but I really don't care to do motor rebuilds.
  8. I have one of those. I tried it very briefly in a 2wd wild dagger and was very unimpressed. Looking back, it wasn't broken in so maybe I should give it another try.....
  9. Sounds interesting. I wonder how it compares to a Traxxas Stinger which is a "20 turn" motor that isn't as good as a Sport Tuned which is 27 turns? I may try one of these. Even if I hate it, it's cheap!
  10. That looks good, but I wonder how cheap it would be shipped to the US? It reminds me of the HPI Firebolt 15 turn that comes with the E-Firestorm(I think). Nobody's talking much about it, though.
  11. I'm wondering which "throw-away" motor is the best, because I have zero interest in rebuilding. I've used: Sport tuned -great, Traxxas Stinger -OK, Traxxas Titan 12T -pretty good. I also have a Super Stock (Blue one?) which is awesome, but it won't hold up forever. Let me know if you've tried HPI Saturn 20T or Firebolt 15T or any others that qualify. If you know the actual (not supposed) timing of these motors, that would also be a plus. Thanks! Dan
  12. Those might be wheels from the Double Blaze. As far as I know, the Mad Bison is supposed to have the same wheels as a Wild Dagger. Have a look at this: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=0445720 Dan
  13. Thanks for the suggestions. I think the grasshopper looks coolest, but it is sort of primitive. I keep thinking I should get a Sand Viper because it comes with all of the immediate hop-ups I would want. (shocks/bearings) Decisions decisions![^o)]
  14. I have only owned monster trucks (and 1 rally car) so far, and I am thinking of buying a buggy. I will not race,I like decent speed, want toughness, prefer simplicity, etc. I've considered the Grasshopper, Hornet, Gravel Hound, Sand Viper, Frog, & Super Fighter G. (I know that's almost all of them, LOL) Anyway here comes the loaded question: which should I buy?[8-)] Thanks for info/opinions!
  15. Would a sports tuned or Super Stock be too fast?
  16. This is a little off topic, but I have Lunchbox wheels/tires on the MB at the moment(display) and it looks like I probably can't run it with these. The offset looks too narrow, like it could foul the steering. What do you guys think? Thanks!
  17. The teeth actually looked OK, but I probably should replace everything. I'm starting to wonder if I should just sell it LOL. Thanks for the advice. Dan
  18. I ran it once with a silver can and there was some crunching. I was hoping to make it as close to bulletproof as possible. When I took apart the gearbox the shafts were well lubricated, although the diff was sort of pastey(?) I'm not sure if this is old dried grease or an attempt at locking it.
  19. So I have to use the new Diff spur and bevels as well as the driveshafts, etc? Thanks!
  20. I recently picked up a Monster Beetle from my local hobby shop, and I want to make it a (light) runner, but I'm not sure which parts I will need to upgrade. Is the diff the same, as well as the large and small bevel gears? Is it just a matter of changing the gearbox and axle joints as well as the drive shafts? Thanks for any info! Dan
