COOL!

I kind of brought this thread back from the dead, I know, but I tried oiling the bearings and it didn't seem to make any difference. I suppose I might need to true the comm and/or replace the bearings, but I'm just not going to do that. If anybody covers shipping, they can have it.

I have a Super Stock BZ motor that makes a sort of screaming/squealing sound. It's not terrible, but it doesn't sound like it used to, and it's not as fast. I imagine if I oil the bearing/bushing and the sound continues, I should replace the bearing. Does that sound right?

I think the overall gear ratio for the BFX is pretty low, so it might work. You just have to make sure it doesn't get super hot.

Wheely King Tyres/wheels
Danbox replied to porky's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
Your Wheely King should have come with extra 14mm hexes that will allow you to use a number of Savage-size wheels. Larger wheels/tires and especially brushless power will kill gears. There are aluminum and steel transmission gears available, though, as well as tougher diff gears. -
I know there isn't a definite answer to this, but about how long do you find a Sport tuned motor lasts before there's a significant drop-off in performance? What's the longest any of you have owned/used one? Just curious....

Newbie Question?
Danbox replied to kingofrimz's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I don't think they make chrome wheels for the KBF anymore. (Doesn't mean you can't still find them) They are 2.2 inch wheels so you'd need to stretch the stock tires or get different ones. The Wild Willy rear wheels won't work because they use a hex instead of the pie-thing. If you go to TamiyaUSA.com you can order the chrome wheels for the Midnight Pumpkin. -
Clodbuster Electronics Dilema
Danbox replied to carparkthrasher's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I think running 540 motors at 14.4 volts is the no-no. If you run one battery and a jumper so you're at 7.2 volts then 540 motors shouldn't fry. (Watch the turn limit, though) -
If the Dualhunter mounts are like the Wild Dagger, they're different from the BFX. Aside from the metal rod used on the BFX front mount, I think the other mounts are probably on the same parts tree.

I saw a mod someone did where they drilled extra holes that allowed the battery retainer to be clipped on a bit farther out. This allowed them to run 7 cell packs.

Great. Now I wish I still had mine!

Gt Tuned Or Rz Superstock For Pumpkin?
Danbox replied to 28yoKid's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I ran a BZ (similar to RZ) in my Lunchbox for a while with the stock 101 speed control. It only thermalled(sp?) once, but that was with a lot of start-stop driving. After it cooled off, it was fine. -
Twin Det With Sidewinder 5700?
Danbox replied to Saito's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I think someone on RCMT (down right now) had a brushless Blackfoot Xtreme. I don't remember what the setup was, but it was too powerful as I recall. One thing you will probably need to do is change the dogbones to thicker ones from Ofna or get some CVD's. A milder system like the Novak stock-equivalent might not be too much for a Twin Det..... Black Foot Extreme
Danbox replied to spencertrax's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I had one for a little while and thought it was cool, but too slow. I wish I hadn't sold it. -
There's a guy on Youtube with a Lunchbox driven by Michael Myers.

I wonder if a Grasshopper body would fit on one of these?
-
I was thinking how I might finally make a "Poor man's Scorcher" from one of these.
-
Some might disagree, but I'd suggest medium discs (pistons?) and hard springs.
-
It looks like upgrading the front shocks might be easier for this one. Seems to have some ground clearance, too.

I don't see why so many people are trashing this one. I think it looks great. If gas were free and I could afford such things, I'd buy a real Tundra.

Stupid Clodbuster Motor Question
Danbox replied to DudeWalker's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
The Stingers are 540 size so they fit no problem. I used those because they're supposed to be zero timed. They didn't seem faster than sport tuned motors in single motor models I have, but I like them in the Clod.
