  1. I put 2 Traxxas Stinger motors in mine and it goes pretty well.
  2. I'd say go for a Wheely King or a Clod.
  3. Not as many as I'd like to.
  4. An email I got from tamiyaUSA said they weren't sure, but there was probably a degree or two of advanced timing, so it's not a good idea. I'm probably going to try it anyway.
  5. If you search for "Maxx shocks" on Evilbay, you can find E/T-Maxx shocks very cheap. I got 4 shipped for about $11USD and they work great on my Clod.
  6. Sport Tuned motors are great and so are Deans plugs. Deans are a pain to solder, but if you use small o-rings or fuel tubing on the tabs, they're easier to grasp.
  7. I ordered some steering linkage sets for the Super Clod from Crawford. So, what have you done today?
  8. I don't remember the measurements offhand, but you can use other shocks of the same length. The cool thing about using the Tamiya shocks is that they come with all of the proper mounting hardware, so installing them is probably slightly easier. As for steering, I'm thinking about getting one of the upgrade kits that can be found on Ebay. I'd post a link, but I don't think that's allowed.
  9. I know this sort of thing has been brought up before, but I'm going to be a little more specific this time. Speculation is ok, but hopefully someone with actual experience can chime in. Which would be better in a Clod: 2 Sport Tuned or 2 HPI Saturn 20 turn motors? I know the HPI motors should technically be faster, but this isn't always the case. My Clod is almost ready and I don't plan to run silver cans for long! Thanks! Dan P.S. I have a Super Rooster which can handle either.
  10. All pinion gears are NOT the same. The pitch has to be correct. I'd stick with the ones mentioned in the previous posts.
  11. I got a good laugh from that.
  12. Wish I had not sold: Blackfoot Xtreme - It was slow, but it had "cool factor". Sand Viper - It lacked ground clearance and I couldn't control it, but I'd like to have made a baja bug out of it. Wild Dagger - It had become spares for the Blackfoot Xtreme. Traxxas Stampede - My first "real" r/c with a plastic motor mount that annoyed me quite a bit.
  13. They're not supposed to be in until mid June, but you need 2 of these. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXGG67&P=Z
  14. Best: Probably the Lunchbox - awesome fun. Worst: Probably the E-Maxx - fun, but breaks too much and a PITA to work on.
  15. Very nice! Get some 550 motors soon, though. 540's don't like that much juice.
  16. I ran my Wheely King at the in-laws. (I know it's not a Tamiya, but they're temporarily out of comission ) I might post pictures later..........
  17. A buddy of mine listed this for me. Check it out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=tab%3DWatching
  18. Clod axle sets huh? I had been thinking Clodzilla in the future, so they wait until after I get a fixer-upper Clod.
  19. Man, that looks sharp!
  20. You could try these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...SM&I=LXTJ21 I put these on, then soldered them anyway!
  21. You've all given me quite a bit to think about............. Thanks for the suggestions!
  22. Another question, If I run a Baja King with (rear) Wild Willy 2 wheels, will the motor (probably a Sport Tuned) overheat?
  23. Right now it's my Wheely King, it's the only one that's not broken!
  24. Yeah, ground clearance is important. That was one of my gripes about the Sand Viper I sold. It was cool, but kind of Squirrelly and too low to the ground for my taste.
