  1. I just had an item deleted from the traderoom but feel this was slightly unfair, i accept that my item was not specifically intended for RC use but thought it could be a really useful item in preserving stuff that may be likely to deteriorate in damp or cold conditions such as vintage tyres. The item in question was an ammo box which has a rubber seal and a clamp so everything inside is protected. I suspect someone has complained rather than the moderators actually deciding to do this off their own backs so as to look like they have acted on the complaint. What i don't understand is where the line is drawn as to what can be placed in the trades, i mean someone posted a camcorder in there a while back. If i had a few tamiya stickers on it would that be allowed? Lets say i had a soldering iron which is just a basic electrical tool not specifically designed for rc use is that allowed?I have seen lots of non-rc stuff go in the trades on the premis that they want to swap this non-rc item for an rc item, is that allowed and if not am i supposed to go whinging to the mods about it? Somebody has obviously decided that i am trying to bend the rules and make my item seem like its useful for RC stuff when it isn't but thats just rubbish. I genuinely thought this could be useful to someone and have about 250 of them to sell or trade.
  2. I would wait for the paint to fully go off before removing the masks as soft paint may come away with the masks. Not sure how long PS paint takes to dry but speed things up by putting the body in the airing cupboard or wherever your hot water cylinder is (If you have a combi boiler there will be no cylinder) Cheers, Nathan
  3. Lucky you! Ever thought about donating a spare bag to the "Bangsticks GH rear wheel build foundation"? I am sure there would be some good karma in it for you []
  4. I have been having some bad luck lately, I bought a GH from Modelsport and ordered the usual ballraces with and decided it would be a good idea to have a set of spare rears with some hornet/frog spikes on there for mud. Got the GH with a note on the invoice saying the tyres are on back order (despite it saying good stock when i paid my money), anyway i got the tyres the other day and went out to the shed to fit the tyres to a NIP rear wheel set i bought at the same time as the GH only to find there are no nuts and bolts in the pack? Is this normal, i mean are these extras? I noticed there are some ranger rears with tyres in the pack in the traderoom today and you can clearly see a little pack of nuts/bolts in there. My NIP wheel set did not have the Tamiya card on the top of the pack, just a clear plastic bag with one staple in the top. Anyone else know anything about these wheels to stop me going mad lol?
  5. Whoa! Contraversial. I am all for freedom of choice but this is just silly really.
  6. This has to be one of the most annoying things, whats the point of posting something in your showroom with no pictures? There is one on the homepage right now by Classictamiya. Something about budget racer? Surley its called S H O W room as its there to show off your stuff not give some waffle about whatever. It says pics to follow, well here's an interesting concept. Why not add the car when you have the pictures?? Does anyone else think there should be a rule against this? How annoying would it be if someone did a mass showroom entry session but with no pictures and the homepage was just full of nothing? [8o|]
  7. Chris answered this on my duplicate post (browser probs when i tried to upload my thread), it got lost aparently. He's on the case.
  8. By the end of the day my broken cars will mostly be: Toe Buster Monster Beetle King Blackfoot Grasshopper Losi XXXT And if i get somesort of paintjob sorted a Lunchie too. Anyone got an F1 car? If so i might bring my F201. Probably a bit boring though as is the real thing
  9. I was just browsing the bay and had a thought (yes it did hurt quite a bit!), In peoples traderooms it sometimes tells you their Ebay username if they have added it. This not always the same as their TC username so wondered if there was any way you could somehow seach on TC under their Ebay name (which obviously you would have by looking at the ebay listing) and perhaps find out if that particular seller is a TC member, sort of like a reverse of how it is now. I think this could be beneficial to members who are interested in a particular item they are selling as i know i would rather sell to a TC member. I realise this is irrelevant to members whose Ebay name is the same as their TC one.

  12. Any one got some spare either loose or on a derelict body beyond repair? Cheers, Nathan
  13. Ahhhhh, thats better. Good to have my Topgear fix even better to see hamster back again. []
  14. Hey Joe! If you are in the garden of England you should pop along to one of our bashes, Just some likeminded enthusiasts who meet up every few weeks for some serious pastic abuse. Everyone's friendly and would be pleased to see a new face. Check the 'Fancy a bash in Kent' thread in the meetings and events forum for news on the next bash. We usually meet in one of four places, Aylesford (Quarry Wood ind est), Penenden Heath, Greatstone for our beach bashes and finally the Warren in Ashford. Plenty of pitures of previos bashes in my showroom, Bellysgonnagetcha (the organiser) and Brat Attacks, so you can see what we are about, there should be some movies too. Hope to see you there mate, Nathan
  15. I recently used BIN for a 360 game seeing the guy had over 1000 positive feedbacks, stupidly i bought the game before investigating further. He had nearly 50 negs, most saying that they waited weeks for the item only to find it came direct from Amazon. This selling stock they don't have is getting more of a problem and to top it all off he didn't take paypal and wanted me to pay using some weird method. Still waiting for the game, started a dispute and to add insult to injury i saw this week the game was cheaper in the shops [8o|] The feedback system is rubbish as i won't leave a neg for him as i want to protect my 100% positive
  16. I must confess to being a bit of a magazine freak when it comes to my motorcycle, but can honsetly say i have never felt the urge at all to buy an RC mag since joining this club. I think there is all you would ever need on here RC car related, subs are £15 annually and the average mag these days costs nearly a fiver and that does not update constantly with new stuff all the time like this site does. If its racing you like then there is a forum especially for that. Save your money mate [H] My 2p
  17. There is a roughly drawn map in my showroom, it must work coz people seem to turn up[]
  18. ****, my mrs is older than me. I do tell her she ages me though lol
  19. It is a shame they are a dying breed whether its their fault for giving bad service/not stocking what we want or whether its our fault for buying online as i actually like to go and browse. I might not need anything but like to have a root round and actually pick things up and probably buy something i might need later on. I always remember going into hobby shops as a kid and drooling over whatever kits they had way up high on the top shelves, something us 20-30 year old take for granted but will be probably mentioned in a "I remember when this was all fields" style in a few years time to our youngsters. Perhaps the good old LHS has the odds stacked against them anyhow, i mean generally speaking people are less patient, less courteous and want things yesterday so will always be quick to slam their LHS when they don't stock that vintage part or tin of tartan paint. I only say this as i like to consider both angles and look at things from the other persons perspective. For all we know there could be some nitro truck/car website similar to this one heaping praise on all their LHS's as they stock all the nitro stuff you could ever want or need. Another thing to consider is the fact that people just love to moan, myself right at the top of that list.
  20. I have an excellent example of this, i went to the one i mentioned in Ashford. Elite models, took Stu (Bratattacks) there as he wanted a hotter motor for his Grasshopper, nothing specialist just a 19t something or other. I spoke to the owner he is nice enough but just never seems to re-order stuff they run out of, he said he just a big run on motors and all they had left was about 20x various 12t motors? So thats about £30 he lost straight away. I had about £85 in my pocket burning a hole and thought i might buy some nice new tyres for a King blackfoot, on asking he said that again he had a run on those and has now sold out, funny that eh? He then offered to order them which in my experience is usually a non event, so i said no thanks. We were about to leave when i started looking at other stuff, then noticed a rack on which there were about 30 packs of truck tyres, not 1 or 2 but loads. If you owned the shop you would probably notice them lol. There were just the things i asked him about, proline sandpaws. dirtpaws, ribbed chevron pattern etc etc, all for a tenner a pair. DON'T YOU WANT MY MONEY!!! Unfortunately my need for parts is greater than my principles so bought a couple of packs, which is usually the case []
  21. This is very common as far as i am concerned in todays throw away society, your average LHS owner want to make a quick buck selling some RTR nitro car probably made in china which will last about 3 tanks of fuel then go wrong. Then you won't be able to get bits for it so he hopefully sells you some other cheap rubbish and so on. I have 2 localish stores to me, one in Ashford Elite models and Modelworld in Maidstone. The Latter is actually quite good, my only grumble is they have most things except the thing you want. You are ok as long as you want some Savage parts. The one in Ashford is ok but sufferers from an arrogant knowitall young assistant who to add insult to injury is an actual ginge. Maybe i am being harsh but they just seem to want sell silly little throw away micro-copters? On the + side they do actally stock the odd Tamiya kit but have been guilty of the aforementioned lying about stuff they will order for you.
  22. Great thread! I like these pointless threads that everyone can relate to. I usually go at the box with kit inside with an axe, then use a floor sander with coarse grit pad on whats left over. does this seem heavy handed to you? [] (Twister then trimmer really)
