Not once but twice. (Once on each side)
I Did have a spare but i put it on and snapped it lol!
Thanks
~It comes with the damper stay

Its an old motor, but its one of the best I have had! The power seems to be imense, and what ever car I stick it in, seems to go really well and be mega punchy off the line!
-
Got myself a new armature, brushes and springs posted for £22. A COMPANY called DMS racing had them. My motor is now like new!
-
You can get a replacement armature for your motor from Hegler Racing: http://www.helgerracing.com
They can also supply you with any other Speed Gem armature if you want something different. The Jade is the only quad wind they do, although they have a fair few triples.

unfortunatly that site is no good anymore! Spoke to horizion!

The Speed Gems series is pretty old now and you aren't going to find a replacement.
Quad winds aren't around now as they aren't needed. They were available years ago when battery power was limited. A 15 single would give harder acceleration but with higher current drain so on bigger tracks a quad wind would use less power to run than a single or double so you got a bit more battery duration.
Put any modern 15 turn in there and you will notice a speed increase over your old motor.
OK Thanks!

I will do in future. Ive glued it for the mo. Had the GH since they were relesed and this is the 1st thing thats broke on it! Best off roader ive ever had!

hi mate, probably best upgrading to the alloy one. I did after i broke mine.
Kind Regards

You got hopups on the DF-02 as well? Mine is 1725 grams RTR. The heaviest of the Tamiya buggys is the DF-01 at 1735 grams. My hopped up DF-01 is 1885 grams. This is with a Ni-MH pack in them. Li-Po cuts about 200 grams.
All thats on the df02 is alloy shocks and alloy stering block. rest is std. I use Vapotex 3700 cells and a 15 quad motor in that one, Oh I do have the alloy motor heat sink.

Just weighed it in @ 1.7kg fully loaded. the gravel hound is 1.8kilos fully loaded so the DI is 100g lighter!
-
As Mark says it will go faster if it went on a diet and got rid of all the bling that won't help the performance, the extra weight just slows it down. The video also states that it's a Clash motor, not a proper 15 turn motor. They have very little torque so will give you the sort of performance you have there in a heavy 4wd buggy. The best use for a Clash is as a paperweight, being round they roll so aren't even good at that.
Put in a decent 19 turn motor like the Checkpoint Money or Reedy Challenger and you will see a good speed increase, put a decent 15 turn in there and it will fly if you adjust the gearing to match the motor.
the 17t is a mtroniks 17 triple. ill check the weight and spur later.

PUT PAPER BETWEEN SPUR AND PINION...AND MESH/SLIDE THEM UP....THEN WIND THE PAPER OUT, THUS LEAVES A VERY SMALL GAP BETWEEN SPUR & PINION SO ITS NOT TOO TIGHT AND MESHING GOOD.
Im running a 12T Corally in my DF03...its fast enough (say around 35kmh) but i wouldnt say silly fast....had it in my old hs2 and it was fast in that too.
I always do that for my cars.
Heres a video of it.

I run a Sidewinder 4600Kv in my DI which is about equivalent to a very good 12t motor and maxes at 34,000 rpm. It goes silly fast running 82t slipper (set with 1.5 mm of threads exposed) and 23t pinion. MY guess is your 17t motor should run 28,0000 rpm and the 15t should be about 31,000 rpm so waaaaaay faster than the stock 16,000 rpm silver can. Either motor would probably run right on the 23t pinion, maybe 25t pinion for the 17t motor.
Start by checking to see if the power is making it to the wheels by removing the spur/pinion cover and give it some throttle while holding it from moving on the ground. Ideally the tires should break traction and spin. If not see what is slipping. If pinion and spur spins easily then the slipper is installed wrong or set to loose. If the whole slipper shaft+spur+pinion turns easily then the ball diffs are set to loose. Also check your pinion mesh to make sure it's not to tight as this will cause alot of drag and slow it way down.
Ill take a vid tom and post it up! I have stripped and rebuilt the car a few times now. I wonder if the ESC could be reducing the power to the motor?
It may have got wet ages ago i cant remember if that is the one that got hit by a wave on the beach/ lol

I cant seem to get my DI to go at any speed! My GH is mega fast with std gearing and a 15q motor in it and almost std as well. I have put a 17turn and a 15turn motor in the DI and tried lots of different gearing options and it stills seams bearly faster than with a tin can motor.
The DI is hopped up with alloy and carbon frame slipper clutch and stuff.

I broke my front damper mount today on a bad jump, has anyone got a spare one please?
-
Im running a 15t quad motor in my GH and she is FAF!!!! Ive got the std gearing atm, but I do also have the sport tuned gear set for it to put in at some point!
Its so fast that the other day I ripped off one of the tyres from the side walls and rim, lol I just have the side walls glued to the rim!
Cant find quad turn motors now, And I love this one, so much grunt! Its way faster than my Dark Impact!

Hi Im looking at getting a Tmaxx 3.3 combo from MS and was wondering if we still get 10% discount from modelsport? and if so how?
Thanks
-
Hi, any Idea of when you will have these in? And how much kit only, no ESC?
Thanks

Ok, just looking at the software and the version, i have is ok, but can do what i would like 100% I need to upgrade to the next version, which is $200 (100)
If anyone would like to donate towards this cost then I am willing to alow them free listings on the site for 6 weeks!
even If I get a total of $30 worth of donations I can put the rest in, I am also going to be purchasing a template for the site as well at a cost of $35
Total outlay is going to be around $275, and I dont forsee me making any money out of this in the 1st year. any fees will just cover server costs!
-
The development version is hosted on a subdomain on one of my servers I rent. ITs a paid server and I host a few sites on them and so far the downtime as only been mins in the last 3 years.
As for limiting members I can choose to verify them, but that would mean a copy of the database from chris. otherwise it would be open to anyone to register. I spose the address could be limited to subscribers only, via pm?
In terms of team, it is just me at the moment, but if anyone would like to help out with the site testing and other site parts, then please pm me and I will send you the info.

Bring it on

Great Idea

Where do i sign up?

No more Epay woes.

Just make sure that it is open to TC Subscribers only, so we sift out the Scammers.

Maybee a Feedback system to show Good Transactions would be helpfull.

A simple spreadsheet design of who's traded with who. and a short comment?

I like smileys as much as i like this idea.
Neil
Feedback system is already in place, and there are options for different levels of member types

There were talks recently on here about TC Auctions.
I have now started to develop and auction site that can be used for the buying and selling of RC items.
What categories would people be interested in seeing?
Maybe Chris would be interested in an "official" / "un official" "TC Auction" based site??
I would propose no end fees for users, just maybe a 10p insertion fee for listings, to cover server fees what are your views?
I have installed the system and am now working at the design and layout of the site, I would imagine it could go live mid may, seeing as im away next week on hols!
Feedback?
