I happened across this site on another board, wow! http://www.rocousa.com/tamiyasale.htm
I called and talked to a guy about shipping charges.
Seems legit.
Anyone here deal with them before?
Yah, I've looked at that site before. This definately is the place to go christmas shopping

A couple of offroad tour places in the u.s.a use these trucks, they are actually like the size of a large suv. http://www.offroadadventure.com/

Is anyone from Tamiya Club coming to the Vintage Nationals?? I ran the track a couple of days ago with my XX and it's an awesome track, the layout is perfect for vintage racing, as well as for modern racing, it allows you to air out your car or just roll over the jumps, very cool indeed.

I'm going back next week to run my RC10T and get used to the handling of the truck.
I am coming. I also posted on 10 talk.

Oh, thats your username
I am going to run my turbo optima and optima mid in 4wd, I will get an rc10 for 2wd, and a wild one for classic. This is an awsome race. -
I have a bit of a problem. I have been looking at some of those german and austrian websites that sell trial trucks. They look pretty good and could be worthy to run in my crawler club's scale comps. I saw a good looking one on this website, " http://truckmodellsport.de/shop/index.html ", Its the mercedes 4x4 kit. The google transalator is horrible, so I don't know exactly what I would be buying. I have also considered the robbe mountaineer, " http://at.robbe-online.net/rims_at.storefr...71b3e0dc146066c ", so fellow members please decide or give advise, have a pleasant summer.
Cad, thanks for your advice. I think I'm going to buy the new tamiya unimog body and mount it on some highlift or losi axles. I will do a build thread when I start.

Without meaning to be too discouraging, from what I've seen on eBay, the 3rd party components are usually a bit of a "miss" on Hotshots. The original release runners that seem to go for the highest money (topping out around $400 from what I remember) are totally stock new builds with gold wheels, and the next highest seems to be just totally stock new built. I've seen quite a few hopped up Hotshots (including whole chassis upgrades, rims, etc) that barely manage to get over the $100 mark. I know for myself, the appeal of the Hotshot is mostly about it's low slung look ... monoshocks and all ... and I think as soon as you move away from that - even with the shock upgrade, to many people it's just not a Hotshot anymore, and they'd be after a Supershot if that was their game.
It obviously doesn't hurt to throw the auction up there as Hib mentioned (or even put a reserve on it ... but that can discourage some bidders), and you obviously never know how high (or low) any given auction might go - but based on what I've seen and the affection you seem to have for the car, I'd be treating it to a well earned retirement up on the shelf. I gave my beloved Hotshot away when I went to uni, and now, I'd trade nearly any kit I own to have it back again.
Wait a second, there is a vintage nationals in CT ? I'm in Mass. Do they allow you to race kyosho optimas?
-
I wouldn't recomend it. I'm not completely sure, but wouldn't that mean double the voltage?

Exactly!!! Nuff said.
I might be able to ship some tlt's to you members. I'm going to get 1.
-
I will gladly do that! It's a very interesting little truck and can't wait to get it. My rock crawler is coming soon so the review might be delayed for a little bit. Oh, and shipping might be a while because europe to the u.s.a takes about 2 weeks. The store just emailed me and said they can't ship to me, so unless somebody can ship it to me in europe, than no more mini bull!
-
natedog, please give us a review and some pics of the little truck when you receive it. I am really interested in getting one of these for the indoors.

good luck king on the 2 car jump if you actually try it. just make sure you can clear it before you actually go for it by putting the jump next to the 2 cars and checking where it lands.
george
We don't have an exact date yet of when we're going, but I am definately going in august. when I do go, I'll bring my tto1 brat thing, my mini cooper monster truck and my baja 5b (if I'm allowed to)
-
thanks, more comments please
Are there any good hobbyshops in the montreal reigon? I'm going there in august likely. I'll probably bring some cars and purchase something I can't get in the u.s.
-
What about a Tamiya Touareg? Fairly simple.
Thats possible, but I would have to buy a new body, wheels and tires to make it look more scale.
-
The High Lift is perfectly suited to mud running, especially with 2.2's fitted. You can lock and unlock the diffs from the outside of the axles with a hex wrench, so spinning wheels will not be an issue.
And with 3 speeds, you can choose how fast you attack the mud at full throttle!
I have a highlift, but I hate having so many parts to work with. I would really like something not that complicated, I back ordered the new axial rock crawler, and although it could be a mudder, its just not realistic. I would really like something more scale, but not something with tons of moving parts. If I could a built highlift for about 300 to 325 usd, I would buy it. My highlift
is missing some screws and other parts, but I would trade it with some cash for a complete, used highlift. my highlift was run about 4 to 5 times. If any body wants to trade a built used highlift for my incomplete highlift with some cash, write an entry in this topic.

Hi everyone, I need some Ideas for a scale truck that I can drive in the mud. I'd like some ideas of kits I could use as a starting project. All help is appreciated.
