  1. Ive been thinking about getting my self one of these but thought I would see what you guys thought of them first. I was gunna get a B44 but I dont like how it comes with all imperial screws. I like the style and individuality of the predator and I hear that they drive really well. So what do you guys think of them, has anyone raced them and how do they hold up??

I raced A Predator X10 for 1 Season. I tried everything to be competitive. The last time I took it to the track I broke it in all 3 qualifiers and again in the main!!. That was enough for me. I sold it and bought a Tamiya TRF 501X. What a difference. I would also stay away from the Kyosho ZX5. I have friends that run those and they break easy as well. The Academy V2 Pro 4WD is very durable and priced right. Maybe try that one.

  2. Nick, everyone has given you good advice. Just let me confirm what they have said. First, take out the 1 hole black pistons and throw them as far as you can. Next, replace them with the 2 hole white pistons. Use 30wt oil all the way around. also, set your ride height so that your cvd's are level. Rember, you need down travel as well as up travel.

After you do this it should be fine, but if your still frustrated with your car, get with me. I'll buy it!!! Steve

  3. lol @ highflyer :-)

Don't worry about offending me, I am not one of those touchy members! Laughed out loud when I read your post. I guess the answer is in previous posts, but to be specific, I haven't driven competitively for about 20 years. I was quite good, but that was with hopped up Boomerangs, quite the different beast.

Whilst I wouldn't agree that a great Hornet driver could beat a bad 501X driver, I get your point. I want to drive a buggy as I like buggies best. I actually love 2WD more, but I think I will need a 4WD to do this task.

I really will be going Tamiya, I could build a Dark Impact.

Just also received a parcel this morning with new built race spec:

    Top Force Evolution

    Egress

    Astute.

Having never raced any of these, I couldn't judge, except to say I would expect the Egress and Top Force to be close to one another and quite superior against the Astute.

    Paul.

Heres the bottom line. You will dust any Emaxx with a TRF 501X. But that's not fair. If your going for a buggy, get the DF-03. Keep in mind that You will eventualy be crushed(ran over) by the Emaxx. I just think that one of us here on the forum could come up with a idea for a similar truck to the Emaxx to race. It's not the Twin Detonator type truck. I have an Emaxx and a Twin Detonator and there is no comparison. I guess what Im saying is; I wish you could beat this guy with a Truck. Buggy on Monster truck is not equal in my mind.

  4. I have The new DT-02 MS as well as a AE B4. I run the B4 in stock buggy class and I use the new MS for mod buggy. I use Proline Holeshot M3 tires on the rear and proline 4 rib's on the front. I have the original Novak SS-5800 Brushless system in it. It is an awesome car. With the brushless motor I can pull wheelies on any surface! On high traction surfaces I can pull a wheelie from a roll! The shock's on the DT-02 MS are top notch. I run 35wt oil in the front and 30wt in the rear. I agree to be taken serious it should have a slipper clutch, but my throttle controll is in my finger. As far as the transmission goes, it's like any Tamiya, It's bullet proof! I hope these tip's help. Steve

  5. Thanks for the responce. But I am talking about turning radius and not so much "sticking" in the turns. I think you are giving advice for a car that is not handleing well. My cars wheels do not turn the same sharpnes left and right.

  6. I have the new DT-02 MS. I bought it with the idea to race it in the mod buggy class. I have found that it turns sharper in one direction than the other. I also have the Desert Gator which does the same thing. With the Desert Gator It didn't bother me because I just used it as a basher, But now I need the new MS to handle on the track. Has anyone else had the same thing? I can correct it with my radio by changing the end points. Also, does anyone know if there are aftermarket shock towers available for the DT-02 ?

  7. I currently race the TRF 501X in mod 4WD. 2 years ago I raced a Dyna Storm in the local club level point series. I finished 7th overall against modern Losi's and AE's. Not to bad for a 15 year old design! I also just bought the new DT-02 MS. I put a Novak brushless in it and plan to race it in the Mod buggy class. So far I have only raced it once. It is realy light in the front. I pull wheelies from a roll. That is cool for just goofing around but not for racing. It also didn't turn well. It does have awesome shocks on it, maybe as good as the legendary Dyna Storm shocks. IM gonna try to get it dialed in. There is just something cool about going to the track and pulling out the Tamiya's! I guess my point to this long story is: I hope it's a full blown competition 1/10 scale 2WD off road racer.
