I hear you. I gave up after running out of damper oil.
-
so how does one eliminate the air in the shock assembly?
-
do your shocks retract rather than push? my shocks work backwards for some reason that I can't figure out. perhaps I'm been building bruisers too long.....

Hey guys, I am soon to lose my religion because I cant seem to get the shocks of the new buggy champ to function correctly. Am I alone on this or has anyone else run into this as well? any tips on how these are supposed to function correctly?

international postage is a coin toss in my opinion. It has been my experience that 97% of items mailed to the UK are delivered with out a hitch. but 70% of all packages mailed to france never turn up. in my ebay auctions I have all international buyers declare in advance if they want insurance or not. I do not guarantee delivery or timely delivery unless insurance and tracking are purchased. I had one item show up in Italy 5 months after it was mailed via air mail.

thanks guys. The cut and trim of the bruiser axle may work. does anyone have a semi rear end that they can measure?
-
hey guys, is there a tamiya straight rear axle that will end up at about 6" wide hex to hex?

Toyota 4x4 Pick-up #58028
bruiserbuilder replied to mongoose1983's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I know that folks used to put the chevy luv bed on their toyota to customize it back in the early 1980's. I hear that there was also a fiberglass bed made back them called the "california custom". it looked just like the vintage hilux bed. I have never found proof that Toyota sold a stepside bed on the show room floor. -
"Bruiser decals don't look good on the Hilux because it lacks the rear cab. You might better like to try the Mountaineer ones?" have a look at mine.
-
I can help you out with the parts if you are still in need.
-
the vintage Hilux, bruiser, and mounty, CABS are 99.9% identical. the vintage hilux had smaller hols in the cab to mount the interior and also used a rear cab wall. the bruiser did not have a rear wall or rear window. the mountaineer did not have a rear wall but it did have a rear window just like the new High lift Hi lux. the new high lift hilux cab is for all practical reasons a perfect match with only a few minor differences, one of which is the very well improved front grill and bumper.

Recession And Vintage Cars/parts
bruiserbuilder replied to Dephcon5's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
It appears to me that folks who have 1:1 projects are coming back to their original passion of r/c. My sales one ebay have slowed about 5% but sales through my e commerce store have jumped 49% since december. -
Disassembly Of The Hole Bruiser Tranny
bruiserbuilder replied to macmeniac's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
you want to use a 3/8" bolt and fit it into the slot where the flanged bearing fits. using a hammer you want to tap the brass gear back onto the splined shaft. -
i use a small propane touch and head the pinion gear until it will slip off with a little twist of a screw driver. usually just about 15 seconds.

Disassembly Of The Hole Bruiser Tranny
bruiserbuilder replied to macmeniac's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
the first thing that you want to do is remove the flanged bearing. then find a block of wood. I use a 4x4 most of the time. you want to drill a 3/4" diameter hole into the wood about 1 1/2" - 2" deep. now, place the assembly onto the piece of wood and let the metal rod hang down into the hole. the last thing is to use a 3/16" punch or awl to knock the shaft out of the brass gear. I hole that this helps some...... -

wow, your missing some HUGE items there. It will most likely be better for you to buy another tranny. email me if you want to talk about this further. -
James, I have not seen anyone offering "a kit" so to speak in a very long time. Perhaps this is a line item that I can add to my e commerce site.
-
I use the clalandra shims and they work well. I believe that they are steel. I can put a magnet to some and see if they are steel
-
