  1. These are all great choices for low profile bodies! In my opinion, the TC01 chassis is perfect for sports prototype bodies like the Porsche GT1-98, Toyota GT-one, Audi r8 or even a Porsche 962. All these bodies were previously available from Tamiya but only for pan car chassis so the dimensions would need to be reworked for the TC01
  2. To me, this is a static model of an RC car....I have a lot of shelf queens, but I CHOOSE not to run them. With this you really have no choice but to put it on the shelf. It is cool but I'll stick with my RC10 classic and Worlds.
  3. Also glad to see the lower profile cage!
  4. So for Kyosho's 60th anniversary, they're releasing a replica of a 36 year old prototype car...Sign me up! Joel was a 1/12 scale specialist so he was surprised to win a world championship in 1/10 off road.
  5. That makes the most sense to me since the motor is in the right place and compatible TL01 parts are still in production.
  6. Any of the older air cooled models is fine with me. Noisy, hot, bad ergonomics...to this day my left clutch leg is way stronger than my right leg... A real car for sure! I had one from the mid 70's and another from the mid 80's I did a 911RSR project a few years back. It doesn't hold a candle to yours in complexity and I had to shelve it for a big move. I am howerver quite proud of my Fuch wheels. It's 2wd with a backwards one way in the front diff to provide four wheel braking.
  7. As a 911 nut, I'm blown away by this project! The best complement I can give you is that it looks like a finished production kit!
  8. IIRC I bought some standard F104 parts (plastic trees) as well as hop up parts. This was three years ago. It probably goes without saying that you should provide part numbers to make things easier to find.
  9. It looks incredibly slick...well done!
  10. If I read the description correctly, it comes with low friction shocks and cardan joint driveshafts (?) so it seems to be a very nice spec!
  11. The only thing holding me back on the TD4 is the body. The chassis itself has all the components neatly packaged and looks like it goes together in that quirky (to borrow a term from you guys) Tamiya way that we all love. The body is an ill proportioned, fat bar of soap with the driver sitting so low, there's no way for him to see out! LOL I know it's just a model but that's whats keeping me from getting this awesome car.
  12. As many as the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.....and if you get that reference, you're old like me!
  13. I agree! You don't want to take away the front wheels' ability to brake. Maybe a drift gyro might be useful too.
  14. He was a great asset to the R/C community. I always enjoyed looking at all the eye candy he posted and always felt his collection was in excellent hands.
  15. I don't have a Prusa but they seem to have the best reputation and are probably the best if you just want to print with a minimal of fuss. I don't mind (really enjoy) tinkering and I didn't have a lot of money to start out with so i got an Ender 3 and that's worked fine for me. It's been tinkered and modified quite a bit but as I said, that's half the fun for me. If I had it to do over again, I would get something enclosed. That's my next project for my printer.
  16. If I recall correctly, back in 2001 when I attended a TCS race at the Mission Viejo track, they were blowing out David Jun TA03s for way under $100...but that was a long time ago! Man I'm old!
  17. Thanks! i knew there was something that would work!
  18. I currently live in Taiwan and currently I'm hesitant to mail anything overseas....I'll be moving back to the US in September but that's a long wait. I could send you the files to print it yourself if you like. What kind of printer are you getting? The wheel above is printed using an FDM printer (Ender3) for the backside and front black ring. The chrome and red parts are printed on an SLA printer (anycubic photon) for smoothness but are fairly brittle. I also have a version that's all FDM that should be stronger that I will use for running.
  19. This is a follow up to two great Mf-01x 911 projects. The first by Juls1 and the second by OldSchoolRC1. If you haven't seen their threads yet and want detailed info on converting a mini size Mf-01x to a TT-01 size short wheelbase you should take a look. Many of the drive train and suspension mods I had in mind before I started building but their excellent builds are a proof of concept and worth a peek. The only thing that really bugged me about Tamiya's excellent 2.7 RSR where the wheels. While they look great for a modern Fuch wheel, they are too low profile to look period correct. I made my own Fuch wheels that had a black ring on the rim to simulate a high profile tire from the 70's. Its a solution similar to what Tamiya did on the F104 F1 wheels. The TL-01 long span suspension was for the most part, a direct fit but I had to make rear upright extensions, and front & rear shock mounts similar to OldSchoolRC1's car.
  20. Is there a front universal swing shaft for the GF-01CB? As you know the car uses the suspension arms from the WR-01CB so the rear swing shafts from that car are a direct fit. The front dog bones from the GF-01CB are 3mm longer than the rear so I'm assuming the rear swing shafts would be too short. I don't have a Comical Avante but I want to try it's front suspension on an MF-01x.
  21. Incredible modelling! Can you give us some details on the print? How many pieces, and what material did you use?
  22. I've heard the same but I was able to buy a spare one for my shelf queen Mad Fighter. I also read on a forum that the clear gearbox version was provided to store owners to display the model in their shops. I think my Super Fighter G (DT02) was a first run as well because it came with a clear gearbox too.
