  8. Hi, I have 3 cars i would like you experts to identify for me. Two are Kyosho, one of which is a vintage nitro 4x4 and the other is an all plastic newer electric 4x4. 9. Hi and thanks for the info, after your post i was able to continue and find out all about it, thanks! What a car, i am going to enjoy restoring it and running it in the summer. The corvette body came with a bunch of cars i bought recently, it might be a PB mustang body but i dont know, its definatly 1/8 i think and was on the Mardave Marauder that was also in with it all, its on ebay now. This body is for sale if you like it, its in good order crack wize but its badly painted. I just tryed to up load more pictures of the stuff and the body for you but TC wont allow it.... says (Attachment space used 494.56k of 500k) never mind
  10. Hi, I collected this little beauty on Sunday and I have no idea who makes it. Its really interesting with cable operated brakes, differential, remote carb!!, side exhaust, pull start. it looks to be 1/12 scale but I cant find any markings to identify it, any body know? thanks guys.
  11. thanks shodog! I liked your tutorial, very inspiring, I will try the 3m tape, is this the stuff? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-Fine-Line-Tape_W0...p3286.m14.l1318 what is the clear I need ts-13? or a different make of paint. BTW what is "flash off" ?
  12. Hi, I tried wd40 on a rag and rubbed the body after this happened to see if it would remove what the tape had left behind, that's how I discovered that it was damage to the paint and not anything left behind by the tape. Does anybody have any recommendations on any masking tape made of vinyl material? I think this suggestion has hit the nail on the head! Thinking about it, there must have been others that have had this where Tamiya TS paint is used, glad I got you lot to help me before I started painting my Sand Scorcher! i had not come accross "fish eye" before, can this be overcome by lots of thin layers with days in between?
  13. Yer i will give it a try and let it dry longer than 3 days but surely that should be enough before doing a stripe, its all tamiya paint and masking, it only seems to do it once paint has been put on top of the masking, a small bit of tape has been tested on its own and no damage happens, well strange
  14. Here is a picture of where the tape has eaten into the blue paint
  15. Help please! I have had a major problem with painting stripes on an original ABS plastic Mardave mini body. I wanted to have the car in box art colours of blue for the main body and then a simple red and yellow stripe through the middle. I followed the tutorial from shodog which was a massive help ( thanks shodog ) and I got a perfect finish with the Tamiya TS-15 blue. 3 days later I then masked off the roof and bonnet with Tamiya masking tape and gave a light base coat of white before the yellow paint for the stripe. Again I got an amazing finish from the Tamiya ts-16 yellow. I removed the masking about 30 minutes later to discover the masking tape looks like it has eaten into the blue paint! the mask lines were all good but alongside where the tape was the paint was all dull and damaged. I tried wd40 to clean it off but I found that the paint is actually damaged/ruined. I decided to do a test and stuck some masking tape on the underside ( which is also in blue ) and leave it there for some time. whilst I was waiting I tried a test stripe on the side but I used halfords car paint in case it was something to do with the Tamiya paint attacking the masking. When I removed the tape, the same had happened so I removed the masking tape tester from the underside and it was ok. this proves the tape alone is ok but when painted on top this problem starts. I have tried 2 types of masking tape and 2 types of paint, where am I going wrong? BTW does anybody know how the stripes go on the roof? is there any pictures of box art minis other than the kit box front?
  16. Hi All, Just so that you all know i am still trading, i dont do quite so much now as i did because i no longer look for stock. Most of my trades are via email questions for small parts. I know my www page has not been touched, but i havent had the time. I intend to update it next week with a whole new page of 'for sale' items. Yes it is true i am selling many of my collection but NOT all, i will be keeping all my favourits (20 cars) i wll be selling the ones that i just collected just for the sake of it. One last thing, that poster on my page with the first 100 cars on it, has been profesionally copied and reprinted, i will be selling them on ebay. They are high quality on gloss paper. Hope to see you all and the next Tamiya bash if one comes about!
  17. Hi All, I have collected every decal sheet for the first 100 Tamiya cars, this was in case I was to need them in future years if I decided to repaint any of my models. I have now decided to not bother with spares and slim out some of my collection of cars. I am only going to keep the models I had as a child. Therefore I have given the entire collection of decals to my best friend Jon Cheshire to sell for me on Ebay. He has a little more time than me to do it plus it breaks my heart to bring myself to list them. The reason for this post is not only to bring to the attention to everybody that they are all listed at this time but to also offer a discount to those peolpe that know me and or use Tamiya Club! If you win any decals send me an email and I will tell Jon to offer a discount of 10% to you. Here is the link (http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&since=-1&sort=3&rows=25&userid=zero-as-a-limit) I think he is going to do 50 decals at a time. We are both off to France to watch the Le Mans Clasic race just as the auctions finish, so there may be a day or 2 before mails are answered. Good luck if you bid! Blazerfrazer
  18. Hi all, I have decided to part with some of my collection, and I have no idea what the value of my NIB Ligier (non comp) is worth. I don't often look at eBay or other for sale areas so I don't really know what it is worth. I was hoping somebody would have some knowledge on what they sell for? I have looked around and cant find anything, Anybody?
  19. I have an idea to add to all of this.... last year i remember that a peg or 2 went missing and we couldn't find which Violator had it! even after the announcement was put over the Tanoy. There was tempers rising and i remember wanting to shoot whoever it was that was ruining it for others. In theory you should only have your Tx switched on if you have the peg and are about to race or in a race. However there is occasions where you do have the peg for a minute so you can set up or test your car and in that short time your peg is required by another person. This person cant see you on the rostrum or in the queue for the next race so assumes that some careless person has wondered off with it. in the mean time His race is about to start and all that is missing is a PEG ! night mare. so my point to all this is that i think we all should have our own named peg with our ''Tamiya club' name and mobile phone number on it. When you take a peg from the board, you replace it with your own peg! The rule is guard your own peg with your life Use it with out fail or GO HOME! this way we can stop problems like last year and allows a little extra time with the proper peg on your Transmitter if you desperatly need to set a car up! Now if we all followed this then we would be sorted. If you all email me with your names and numbers i will happily provide and decorate the pegs. What do you all think?
  20. Hi All, I hope to see more original Subaru Brats, i see 2 others here so far and i am hoping for a Brat race!! i will kick all your *****! Gonna bring my Hi-Lux, Willy Mk1, Grb Toyota also. Look Forward to seeing you all again. Any objections if i bring my micro helli for some aerial shots?
  21. quote:Originally posted by CaptainCalamitylol, blazer frazer and I should get the mental nutcase award, racing his Tamiya GT1 against my touring car (a mission) in the dark, well, we werent really racing, just driving about a foot from eachother at top speed and we could hardly see, then we were up at 6:30 the next morning for some early morning racing, that was quite funny. id="quote">id="quote">I do believe I was up before you as I was on the track testing a new Speedo as you emerged from your tent! I blame it on the market traders as they woke me up and I could not sleep. well that's my excuse for getting up at 6.15 to repair my Speedo. Thanks to BiggusDitchus for doing lighthouse duty the night before! I cant believe that we managed to race so well in the dark! FUN not to mention the chocolate biscuits and beer he was handing out!
