The 40GBP seems to refer to ESC as well as Sport tuned motor which is quite reasonable....

Interesting topic, just a quick question - how many of these boxes do you think were printed before somebody noticed the vehicle is described as '4 whell drive' .......!!

I have a NIB Midnight Pumpkin which I had the same question about - it seems spraying it is the popular opinion here and that's what I had planned to do, but nobody has mentioned priming the body ? Is this because this is taken for granted or is it not always necessary to use a primer 1st ?

I have only dealt with 2 TC members since 'joining the fold' early in February, making purchases from each - I would have to say it was extremely easy and painless so a big THANK YOU to Mr_Pushrod and Mad Andy for trading in the true spirit of TC !!

A large percentage of items on eBay state 'not Tamiya HPI Losi....', it's so common-place that as somebody who has only ever bought on eBay, I thought it was considered normal practice ! I'm sure this was featured on Top Gear or Tomorrow's World, in the same programme they featured a fully working scale model jet-engined Concorde, which WAS r/c and was actually flown for filming as part of some Hollywood blockbuster or other....regarding the Ferrari I agree, great engineering but WHY??

Received an email from Mtroniks suggesting it is the thermal shutdown kicking in - Tinno, is your ESC getting hot before it shuts down because mine doesn't seem to be (it doesn't run long enough to get too hot!!)

I found the same thing yesterday evening while messing with my TL01. I have the Viper Eco 20 running with the standard issue motor and this too would run for a few seconds on full throttle and then cut out, both LED's flashed for a few seconds and then it ran again, only to cut out soon after. I put it down to a running-out battery, or maybe I have it mounted too close to the receiver ? It would be interesting to hear if anyone has some more fault-finding hints, as it has worked without problems for about 4 hours in total since I installed it.

Hi chaps, after what seems like an eternity (due to work, marriage plans, unexpected vists from distant relatives etc etc) the TL-01 is back together having been stripped to it's components, cleaned and rebuilt with the Mtroniks Viper Eco 20 ESC and ball raced. I cannot believe what a difference even just these 2 'upgrades' have made (thanks again for the advice BTW), it's definitely given me the bug to see just how much I can get out of this model. Motor is next on the list to take full advantage of some newly-acquired drift tyres (thanks Mr_Pushrod) and I am also considering my next vehicle - something for a bit of off-road bashing, as large areas of tarmac are scarce 'round my way !!

Alternatively, the person enquiring about the trade could make a reference to what it is they are interested in, as it says to do on the page.........

Thanks for the advice, the weekend (assuming postal delivery makes good time!) should see some quality tinkering time. I'm looking forward to Mr J Sainsbury closing 4pm Sunday to see how successful I've been.

Thank you for the warm welcome, I hope I don't cause any upset with seemingly 'simple' questions!! Once I have purchased my choice of upgraded gear (which will more than likely be something suggested to me on here!!), what fitting instructions (if any) tend to be supplied, or do I figure it out for myself ? I have the original manual for the model but this does not seem to have much scope for explaining fitment of hop ups.

After seeing quite a lot of coverage recently re 'drifting', I have unearthed my ageing TL01-chassis Alfa Romeo Tourer (completely standard, as Tamiya intended!!) and plan to give it a new lease of life. I have ordered a ballrace kit as this seems to be the 1st thing everyone suggests but would like some advice on a good ESC/motor combination to give me better acceleration/low speed grunt. I don't plan on racing the car, it's just for fun but your suggestions would be appreciated.
