  1. Tamiya is bankrupting me. I still have to get the FAV, and soon to be released: Supershot & Mudblaster.
  2. My prediction? Vanquish by the end of summer.
  3. Does anyone have a used CC-01 they want to sell? I don't have anything for trade so cash will have to do. PM if interested. Thanks.
  4. It's going to be re-released. Mark my words, it's only a matter of time. Like I've written before, it's surprising Tamiya is recycling the parts first with Vajar. Tamiya even stated on the vajar page that it used the Vanquish plastic trailing link. So, we know the thought is there. I can't wait for them to re-release it. Street price will probably be around $225 or something. I do hope they replace the gold metal uprights with something cheaper like GF plastic.
  5. This is a brand new Spektrum SM1000 TX module that I no longer need. It is perfect condition and working order. Asking for $50 with free shipping. I will accept a trade for: - 3 Futaba 75mhz receivers: R153, R133, or any combo. - 1 Futaba 75mhz synthesized Tx module + receiver (if it will work with r153 & r133 crystal receivers, I'm still checking). - Or, one Futaba R2004GF 4-Channel 2.4GHz FHSS Receiver. If interested PM and we'll work something out. Thanks.
  6. I got to say I'm getting really curious about this truck, I want to know more about the details and performance. Maybe Tamiya knows something we don't When it's released we all may be eating crow.
  7. "This is fine for competition RC offroad vehicles, but not for the scale market. The lesser spec models are neither competition class or a scale model based on a real vehicle. Instead some grey area in the middle that does neither well." Well said! "What I don't like about some re-re (or should I say, re-hash) models is where they take one of the old model bodies and drop it onto one of the new bland characterless chassis (like the DT02),. . ." Took the words right out of my mouth. The Holiday Buggy is almost unforgivable, lol. I understand that Tamiya wanted to use the HB as an opportunity to for kids to bash with, hence the wider DT02. Still, there was no reason not to include, an option, extra pair of shorter front / rear suspension arms & dog bones to keep the more authentic look of the original. I would have paid an extra $20 to avoid the hassle of modifying it myself.
  8. The originals are still collectable. For example, if I had an original Avante I would have never sold it just because of the re-re. I would have just saved up for a 2011 version. The re-releases are a brilliant idea; not only does it give those of us who missed out the first time a chance to experience building and driving them, but it also introduces a newer generation of kids to Tamiya, and the era of semi-realistic and cool looking vehicles. By re-releasing these kits Tamiya is also showcasing their contribution to the R/C industry. In fact, I am willing to bet that in another 20 years, after discontinuing again, they will do a 3rd re-release, and we will still buy them. Modern cars are nice, but they are b.o.r.i.n.g. My only complaint is that they are coming to fast, 1 or 2 a year should be the max.
  9. ". . .& "large bore" CVA shocks (probably better than Avante"s)." That's a little bit of rationalization. LOL
  10. Although we can categorize the Vajra as a parts bin special, I'm not sure if it's for the casual basher or the competitive racer, with it's huge price tag. If Tamiya wanted to recuperate the cost of the re-re Avante they could have brought back the cheaper Vanquish. It think they will by next summer. That's my prediction, you heard it here first
  11. It's just strange because the Avante / Egress re-re are loaded with carbon & alloy parts, but the Vajra box screams RTR brasher. Most non Tamiya fans will see the box art before anything else. Maybe this is a "trial balloon" for a future, more professional looking, TRF release? Clearly, Tamiya is trying to spread the re-re cost of the Avante & Egress. I don't have the numbers but it seems that the re-re Avante was a hit. Why bother? At least we will have plenty of spare parts for sometime to come
  12. It's kinda cool, in a Frankenstein sort of way. Yet, it takes away from uniqueness of the Avante, which is annoying. At ~400-500 a pop, it's kind of silly. I don't know. Maybe with modern materials tamiya is confident the Avante chassis has reached it's true potential? I'm still hoping for a Vanquish down the road. I'm confident we'll get it.
  13. I will definitely be getting my nephew a super fighter GR, or something like it, for Christmas when he hit 2-3 years.
