  1. Two work collegues, a mate and I all have TC's. We all have run our engines in as the instructions and all have had no problems ,except one collegue who totally shagged his piston/sleeve in two runs. I might add that this guy also stripped the thread in his TR-15T head when he tightened up the glow plug (without the compression washer) too much and also broke off the carb brass inlet nipple on the same car when he wanted to move its position in relation to the carb. So I don't count his engine failure as anything other than being a twit... The US forums all go on about poor quality engines but to be honest I think they all thrash them to bits, (judging by the videos they post)!!!!! The only problem that we encountered was a slipping one way bearing on the starter. Fixed this by changing from 25% Duraglow "treacle" to 20% Blue Thunder as advised by Apex Models. Runs a treat...! Dave
  2. As another option, try a Terra Crusher engine. They go straight in and give loads of power. Just make sure you use the aluminium clutch set! Ebay have them with manifold and electric start for next to nothing, (for around £50.00). If you want Tamiya original engines and manifolds, try PK Racing in The Netherlands, they are sharp on prices and hold stock/can get stock that you have no chance of getting from the UK. Dave
  3. B & Q do a really good pair of small self adjusting grips, (called Robo Grips) that you can fit plastic covers to the jaws, (called Robo Guards). These are excellent for holding shock bodies whilst you tighten or loosen the top cap. They are also great for holding shock bodies whilst you tighten up the plastic part on the shaft end.
  4. Hi, Have a look at Ebay, at the moment Tamiya TRF shocks are going for £28 - £30 plus shipping. I have bought Carson shocks myself and found them to be adequate but not up to Tamiya spec. They are good if your on a budget, but long term - Mr T's are better.
  5. Thanks for your offer for help, its a RTR TGS chassis.
  6. Sorry to go off at a tangent, but that four stroke looks very interesting....! What did you have to do to make it fit? I am thinking of using a bigger engine in my TC and this could be the answer. Every one elso goes for 21's with complete chassis conversions, but I wanted to keep the chassis stock as much as possible. I have also been playing with the idea of a 21 in my TGX, I have already tried an FS-18 with interesting results and a melted stock clutch, (runs ok with a TC aluminium clutch though). Thanks, Dave
  7. Hi, I think it's a good thing, as it allows novices to get a feel for gas cars. It may not be as tuneable or flexable for hop ups, etc, as some of the other kits but I would of loved this type of car when I first started out ). Just waiting for mine, should arrive end of next week from Hong Kong. I thought $195.00 inc. shipping was very good? Thanks, Dave
  8. Hi, I have bought several sets of these conversion kits purely for the radial tires, for my TGX cars. They are identical to the kit ones originally included in the OPS engine chassis kit. Later cars had slicks with a lower profile than the radials. The radial compound is a little harder than the slicks also. Thanks, Dave
