  1. That last video makes me appreciate Tamiya even more now! I can't believe all of the work and effort that goes into making these kits! Thanks to Martin for all of these wonderful videos!
  2. Tamiya will always be my favorite and are simply the best when it comes realism and the fun factor when building a new kit! But I will say that I do like HPI kits too. They are fun to build and the bodies they produce are very nice and some have true to scale realism! But Tamiya still blows them away hands down!! LONG LIVE THE RE-RELEASES!!!
  3. Hey rcgrabbag, Good Luck with the move. I just noticed that you live not too far from me. I am in Far Northeast Philly. I have a friend that lives in Perkiomen. Good luck with the auction too!
  4. Hey andy, The new TA05 is a pretty cool car and it is 4 wheel belt driven. I personally like the direct 2 wheel drive cars. Tamiya just put out the Mercedes C-11 and Jaguar. These cars are fast right out of the box. They come with a sport tuned motor too and finished body. The only thing is that there aren't many upgrades for them. So I would go with the TA-05 or even the TT-01. There are a good number of hop-ups available!
  5. Can ya take a pic of it and post it on here?
  6. Maybe he thinks that Tamiya is heading in the re-release direction for a while, so he wants to get as much as he can for his kits now to save his hobby shop. I don't know. All I know is that I am very envious of his collection!!
  7. Did you get the original Monster Beetle or the QD version?
  8. Hey Theo, Alot of his kits he got during the eBay boom! He told me that he paid $450 for a Lunch Box kit, so he must have still been collecting recently. I think he meant that he spent a half million on his entire collection, not just the Tamiya kits. This guy has just about anything and everything! And he has alot of vintage parts as well! So I believe him when he says he spent a fortune on the collection, maybe not a half million, but I would imagine it was a pretty decent amount of money. He also has doubles of some kits too!
  9. I haven't heard this rumor. But I could see Tamiya re-releasing the VW Beetle. They already re-releases the Alfa Romeo Sprint, 2 Mini coopers (RTR), Mazda Eunos Roadster. The VW fits right in with that category. But I could also see them re-releasing it as an XB version. I would hold on to it, if it is still NIB.
  10. I spoke with him on AIM two nights ago. He is a very nice guy. He said he has all of his kits at home and is bringing them into his shop a few at a time and taking the pics and posting them on eBay. He said he spent over a half million on this collection and sadly he needs to sell them to keep his business going. He said he has so much old stuff in his hobby shop and he needs to clear it all out to make room for the latest products in the hobby world because business is VERY BAD right now. Basically he is also mad at Tamiya and said some harsh words about them for re-releasing kits. I think he has every right to look at it as an investment with a collection that size. He put alot of hard work into it. I hope he gets his shop in order and his business does better! I think he said that Tamiya is targeting collectors like us with the re-releases because they missed the boat on the ready to run stuff and they need to make up for it.
  11. Gee...I hope that "Tokens" didn't go to the hobby shop and buy the kit. He hasn't written back since the first post. Hopefully he read the rest of these posts and didn't actually spend the $189 for the Dirty Willy!
  12. I think his shop is in Ramsay, NJ.
  13. Hey rroodd, He has EVERY single kit that Tamiya has put out! Pretty impressive huh? But like I said he is done with Tamiya and wants to have nothing to do with them anymore and his hobby store is struggling to stay afloat, that is why he is selling them.
  14. I understand where all of you are coming from. But I do still think it drives the price up in some cases. You all have to admit that you got caught in the moment one time or another and bid extemely high for something because ya had to have it, hence driving the price up! Right? I don't get that wound up about it, I guess I was just having a bad day and decided to take it out on eBay! Sorry folks!
  15. I picked up a Conrad Rusty Trombone a few years back, but stupid me sold it for $100. If I only knew then what I know now!!
  16. Does it come with a genuine Conrad 240826 modified motor?? If so, I can see why you made this trade!
  17. I don't know anything about that kit, but with a name like Dirty Willy, I guess ya can't go wrong!
  18. Ok Ok....there are 2 different Tamiya Mans in this club. Tamiya Man is the guy with all of the kits and now hates Tamiya. Tamiyaman (no space in between) is the guy who posted in these forums!
  19. I see your logic Terry and it makes sense! I guess I just get annoyed sometimes!
  20. Wow! It is TamiyaMan. I just looked at his profile on here and it's him! I am shocked. It's sad to see such a great collector pack it in! His collection was by far the biggest, best collection I have ever seen!
  21. I disagree sosidge (I love your name, by the way!). There are always a half dozen people waiting for the last 10 minutes anyways. I just don't see the point because 9 times out of 10 the person that bids on the item on the first day will not win the item! So what is the point?
  22. I will never understand why people bid early on auctions on eBay. It doesn't make sense to me. All it does is drive the prices up and then at the very last minute the price will sky rocket even higher. What is the point of that?? Wouldn't it be better to just keep your eye on the auction and then start to bid in the final minutes?? Does the 1st bidder actually think he is going to win the auction with the 1st bid when there are 6 days left in the auction? I am sorry for going off about this, but it just ticks me off! Thanks for letting me rant!!
  23. Do you know TamiyaMan by first name?? Maybe it is him....hmmmmmm??
