  1. Hey Theo, No I actually don't think it is TamiyaMan that I am talking about. At first I thought it might be him, but the guy I was talking with actually didn't even really know the values of the kits he is selling. I think TamiyaMan has stayed on top of things as far as Tamiya goes. This guy seems like he was away from the vintage scene for a while. It actually makes me kinda sad to see this guy putting his whole collection up for sale though.
  2. Hey Drew, I am all for opinion! I said that everyone is entitled to whatever opinion they may have about anything. I wasn't singling you or Terry out. I never said I agreed with Topforcein's opinion. In fact I disagree with it and would have done the same thing if I was on the other end of the phone. But I am not going to get on him about how he feels about the Hobby Company lady. I was just saying that we should just let the whole go because both you and Topforcein were starting to get hot. At least it seemed that way in the previous posts.
  3. I just got done talking with a fellow collector who owns a hobby shop in New Jersey. I must say that I feel pretty bad for him right now. He has been collecting since the 1970's and he has EVERY single Tamiya kit up to a certain point. Well, he is now selling his collection and I asked him why?? He said that his store is not making it and he needs the money to stay afloat. After talking with him some more, he told me that he hates Tamiya and wants to have nothing to do with them anymore. He blames the re-releases for ruining what he has accomplished collection wise. I am all for the re-releases, but if I was in his shoes, I would be really upset too. I guess ya can say that Tamiya has lost probably one of it's #1 fans because of the re-releases. I guess it's true when we all say that we have to support our LHS's.
  4. YAY! They are in stock again! Order up everyone!!
  5. I think we all need to just let this whole thing go! It's getting a bit out of hand and tempers are starting to flare. Topforcein is entitled to his opinion, just as everyone else is too. But when things start getting personal, it's time to let it go. It's just a hobby and it's supposed to be fun!
  6. Geez....nevermind...they are already sold out! I guess alot of you were on top of that one!
  7. I just thought I would let you know that the Mercedes c-11 is in stock at Tower Hobbies. Limited quantities though!
  8. The Sonic Platypus - It would be just too wierd.
  9. It looks to me like they stopped using the blister packs right after #58152 Isuzu MU. It seems like they just started using boxes for the parts. I could be wrong though!
  10. My Super Clod didn't have them...hmmmmm???
  11. It is definitely taking Tower a long time to get the re-releases in stock. I know that alot of people have them on back order, and maybe these orders are getting filled as the kits come in, but I find it hard to believe that it took Tower this long to finally get the Hornet in stock! It has been out for a long time now! I have had my Grasshopper on backorder for over 2 months now. I can just imagine how long it is going to take to get The Frog from Tower Hobbies!
  12. There is a whole set of mini's on eBay with a buy it now price of uS$79! YIKES! The same seller is selling them seperate for $9 a piece!!
  13. Pretty cool that these even these little cars have to be built!! Do ya think they will pop up on eBay soon??
  14. You can put it on a Porsche 956 chassis too. I did this a while back to see what it would look like. It looked pretty cool with the wide back tires!
  15. Alright Stefan, since ya don't want the Striker, I will put the word in for the Sonic Fighter to be re-released! LOL!
  16. Personally I would like a 3 speed re-released, but with a different body just to keep everybody (Those who hate re-releases and those who love them) happy!
  17. I personally love the Thundershot! I am huge fan of that chassis and it's a fun kit to build!
  18. I bet they had a list of old cars that they presented to the fans and they had to pick from that list of cars. There probably wasn't any 3 speeds on it. That is just my assumption!
  19. Is there any way that you can take pictures or your pinion and your gearbox internals like Tipsy did? They say a picture is worth a 1000 words and with all of the knowledge on this site, I bet the problem could be identified in a matter of minutes with a picture!
  20. Just a quick question: Is the pinion gear you are using the one that came with the kit or did ya buy a new one? If ya bought a new one, are ya sure it is the correct pitch to match the spur gear??
  21. It was a good joke, but I can see why some peeps are ticked off. Especially the guy that lowered his price on his Rough Rider auction and only got $475 for it. I think that once everybody seen that the post was started by Chris, that we had no reason not to believe him. You have a very powerful influence on your site Chris! It is almost "Cult-like"; the way all of us "followers" took the bait from our fearless leader!! haha! I got my hopes up, but at the same time after I saw Simens showroom pic, I started to get doubts (eventhough that had nothing to do with your fake picture). So all in all, good joke, you duped just about everybody on here.
  22. I kinda tend to agree with Wandy. I think that the past re-releases weren't really re-releases, except for the XR-311, Dyna Storm, and Tyrell 6 Wheeler. The Lancia was a TA03, Wild Willy 2 was all new chassis, etc. The re-releases that they are putting out now are basically exactly the same as the originals except for the speedo and some decals. I think Tamiya is heading in the re-release direction at full force and will probably focus on this direction for a while. I think they will be suprised by how many people will eat these kits up when they come out!
  23. Hey Everyone, I was looking through some showrooms just to see if I noticed any differences between the kit boxes that Chris posted and the original boxes. I came across Simensays' showroom and he has a pic of about 4 Sand Scorcher boxes sitting on a hard wood floor just like the pic that Chris posted. Check it out: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserimage.asp...003154231_1.jpg You guys are trying to pull a fast one over on us are ya! LOL!
  24. WOW! This is some great news! I think Tamiya has found their new direction and we will most likely see more re-rereleases over time! It makes sense to me to be re-releasing all of these great vintage kits. It is what made Tamiya the leader in R/C kits in the beginning and I think it is great that they are going back to their roots! Great Job Mr. Tamiya!!
  25. Hey Chris, The first thing I would get is ball bearings to replace all of the plastic ones that came with the kit. You can also get an electronic speed control and a faster motor!
