  1. I think it looks pretty cool. I can't get over the size of the wheel sitting on the dude's lap in the one picture. I am sure that not many of these will be made as they are way to expensive for the average hobbyist. Maybe HPI will come out with a 1/10 scale version later.
  2. Wow! This is awesome! I can't believe how fast all of these re-releases are being announced! I am sure that quite a few eBay sellers are upset about all of these. But then again, they have an opportunity to make just as much money by selling a bunch of re-releases as well! I just have a feeling that we are gonna see alot more re-releases in the future. It seems to be the direction that Tamiya is going lately! I, for one, am quite happy with this!!!
  3. Sorry about posting this info since it was already posted by MJohnston39. I guess it kinda got buried in the original thread. Good to know that some people seen it as new info though! :-)
  4. Hopefully the Nissan R91CP will be re-released too with the cockpit and all!! I love Tamiya for re-releasing all these kits!
  5. I forgot to post the link: http://www.tamiya.com/japan/news/news0510/news1.htm#58356
  6. Not sure if this was posted already, but the Ferrari F40 is being re-released with a finished body as well!!
  7. Wow! Just had another look at that site and saw the Ferrari F40 on there as well! I guess it will only be a matter of time before the Nissan R91CP will be re-released!
  8. Awesome! I can't wait for this release!! The new Esso Supra on that site look really nice too!
  9. Hey Jay, I just checked the site again and it still says the Grasshopper wont be in stock until late Sep. Mine has been on back order for a while! I already got 2 Lunch Boxes and will probably order the Hornet today! Thanks! I will have to keep checking the site.
  10. Hey, I have had The Grasshopper on back order for over a month now! Glad to see that they finally got the Hornet in stock! I already got one from Hong Kong last November. The only thing is that the Hong Kong kits don't come with the ESC. I forgot to mention that Tower Hobbies doesn't even have any info on the Desert Gator either. Is that kit available in the uS yet?? It seems like it has been out long enough.
  11. Hey Everyone, What is up with Tower Hobbies not being able to get the Hornet and Grasshopper re-releases in stock? I mean the Hornet has been out for quite a while now. I find it hard to believe that they are still filling back orders. If it takes this long for these kits, then I can just imagine how long it will take to get a Frog from Tower when it is re-released.
  12. You will probably only get about $150 for it...so you should just sell it to me right now for that price! :-) Just kidding! You will make a hefty profit from this kit! Good Luck! By the way, does this hobby shop happen to have any other vintage kits for sale?? If so, which ones??
  13. That's funny Miramar. I always wondered what kind of cars they were in Poltergeist. I thought they were Tamiya Porsche 956s for some reason. I will have to watch that movie again and use the zoom feature on the DVD player.
  14. Well, there is no sense in wasting money to make a new mold if they still have the old ones laying around with the original dates stamped on them. Besides the re-releases are all a bit different from the originals in some ways. The Lunch Box re-release uses different parts for the tie rods and different decals. I think that they are very distinguishable from eachother.
  15. I agree that the re-releases are not the same as the originals. One of my favorite things about the vintage kits is the blister packs! You will probably never see them again in the re-release kits. The Dyna Storm was an exception, but I don't think they will use them in the future. Blister packs always made the kit look really nice. Just my 2 cents!!
  16. Hey, How come the LunchBox is in stock at Tower Hobbies but they haven't filled my backorder?? Has this happened to anybody else?
  17. Geez...no wonder why mine is still on backorder! You are buying them all up!! haha. When did you place your order and how long did it take until it shipped?
  18. Hey Everyone, I can't believe that Tower directed you to Tamiya directly! I think that Tower should have to do the leg work and contact Tamiya and then ship you out the parts. Tower should be the one to stand buy what they sell! This is why I am strong believer in supporting your LHS! Good Luck with the kit though!
  19. By the way, in my previous post, I just wanted to point out that I am not speaking for TamiyaMan in any way. I was simply just using his collection as an example because it is simply the most impressive collection I have ever seen. I should have said that if "I" had a collection like his, that "I" would probably be upset if Tamiya re-released all of the oldies! Sorry if any offense was taken!
  20. Well said Miramar!! I totally agree with you. I would consider us all serious collectors when it comes to Tamiya kits, new and vintage. We all have different reasons of why we collect these kits though. I myself collect the kits to bring back some childhood past and I just simply love to look at the kits, NIB or built. Some people are in it as an investment and will spend top dollar for these kits, while other people are in it just for the fun of it! Take TamiyaMan for instance, I am sure that he would be really upset if Tamiya re-released all of the golden oldies. He has almost every NIB kit Tamiya has ever put out. Well, some of us may never ever be able to have a collection like his. But that doesn't mean that we don't deserve to someday have a collection like that. Which is why I took offense to minijosh's comment. I am sure that he meant no harm by it, but that is just how I interpreted it. It just simply boils down to opinion when it comes to collecting because we have different motives for our hobby! I too, hope Tamiya makes alot of money from the re-releases and all of the kits that they put out! They deserve it because they put out quality products and have done so since the beginning! With the exception of the Sonic Fighter! haha!
  21. Re-releases are a great thing! I actually took a bit of offense to minijosh's comment that they should be kept sacred that only a few "select" owners can own. I have a pretty big collection of originals, but I would love to see Tamiya re-release all of the old good cars! It is just a hobby and the kits were meant to be built and run. I can understand not wanting to build the old kits because they are scarce and I even have some old kits that I keep hesitating to build. But with the re-releases, there is no guilt when tearing the kit open and building it! I think EVERYONE should have a chance to build the kits of yesterday! The Rich, middle class, and the less fortunate should all be able to experience the joy in building a vintage kit and it should not be for just a "select few"! Just my 2 cents! I am all for the re-releases! Keep em' coming Tamiya!!
  22. My thoughts and prayers are with all of our friends overseas in London. -Al
  23. Hey everyone, Does anybody have part G-5 for the Vanquish that they would be willing to sell? It is the front shock tower. I took my Vanquish out for spin today and it broke for no reason at all! I didn't even do any jumps or anything. I just drove it on asphalt. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Al
  24. Wow! I am shocked that so many of you seem to prefer the pre-painted bodies over the clear lexan bodies!! I guess I am just old school when it comes to our hobby! For me, it just seems like icing on the cake after I am done painting and decalling the body! I agree that the best option would be to package a painted body and a clear body in the kit like the TXT! [] -Al
  25. Man...I am really getting tired of these finished body kits. Painting the body is one of the best parts about the hobby. I know for me that when I build a new kit and paint it and put the final touches on the body, that it feels great that "I" built and painted the kit "myself"! I just feel like it takes something away from the hobby! Just my opinion though! How do all of you feel about the finished body kits?? -Al
