Merry Christmas from Philly to all of my friends at the best club in the world! I am now off to open up my Enzo Ferrari static kit!! :-)
-
Just thought I would let ya know that the Manta Ray re-re is in stock at Tower Hobbies now. Hopefully the Thundershot will come into stock soon too!
-
Dag! I had 2 of the sites you listed Larbut! I have been searching for the past 45 minutes. Good job!
-
The Top Force has hit eBay!! Jason's Store has 2 of them in stock. I love the re-re's, but I am really missing the blister packs! They made the kit look more sophisticated.
-
I don't believe him at all. The Tamiya re-re's are very hard to get, meaning that they must be selling well. The Hornet re-re has been out for a while now and Tower Hobbies can't even keep them in stock as well as the Grasshopper and Lunchbox. Kyosho definitely has a case of sour grapes!

Hey Darren,
Can you send me the Sand Scorcher, Frog, and Ford Ranger transparent scans? My email address is aja723@comcast.net.
Thanks,
-
Jason is one of the best sellers on eBay! I am still shocked at how fast things arrive from him! I got a shipment in 2 days from Japan to the States! Very impressive seller.

Tower Hobbies states that the Ferrari F40 re-release is discontinued....anybody know if this true?? They never even got them in stock.

I thought that most nitro cars do not go in reverse unless it has a reverse module installed in it. As far as I know, my TG10 does not go in reverse. Pulling back on the throttle is for applying the brakes. You may just need to do some adjusting on your engine needle so that it won't stall when you apply the brakes. It is kinda hard to get it just right, but if ya play around with it long enough, you will get it!

I just broke mine, sanded down the rough edges, and then glued it. It worked out okay.
-
Ready to run....DAG! Hopefully kit versions will follow!!
-
Welcome to the club! You should start getting back into Tamiya kits!! Especially since they are re-releasing alot of the oldies!!
-
I remember Sears selling them!! That is great and brought back memories of the Sears Wish Book! I remember they had the Falcon, Grasshopper, and Hornet. I also remember Kay-Bee toy store also had the Grasshopper and Falcon as complete kits.
The Brat actually looks like a cheap toy in that picture!
-
I am sure that Japan kit prices are cheaper but the shipping costs are alot higher. I hope that Tower lists The Frog soon! I can't wait to get my hands one!!!
-
Tower Hobbies doesn't even sell the Desert Gator. I wonder if they even know about it? I am sure that The Frog will pop up soon!
-
Tower Hobbies in the u.S. has them listed for pre-order! They have the Top Force, Thundershot, and Manta Ray listed. It says they are supposed to be in stock by January! Hopefully that will change and come in sooner!
-
Hey Darryn,
I think the Super Hornet is discontinued in the uS. Tower Hobbies does not carry it anymore and I haven't seen them in any shops here for a while.

Airbrushing is definitly the way to go. Once you get he hang of it, you will love it. Also, be sure to waer a mask or cover your mouth and nose while airbrushing! I used to do it without any protection and when I would blow my nose, it would look like a rainbow in the tissue! haha! Not to mention I would get horrible headaches as well!
-
I am not sure if Tamiya ever made these available for sale. The kit came with 2 bodies, 1 was finished with the grill, windows, and headlight decals already applied. The other body was clear and didn't come with any decals for it. I will look around, but I don't think they are available.

Check this out. I found this on Tamiya's website:

I just thought I would bring this thread back to life again to make sure that everyone's differences are settled!! LOL! Just kidding! I just read through this whole thread again and it was actually very amusing! I never even noticed that Quedex called me stupid at the beginning of this thread! I guess it is too late now to respond to that! haha!

I have been talking with 2 very loyal collectors over the past few weeks and they are leaving the hobby as well! :-( One needs the money to stay afloat and the other one just says it isn't as much fun the 2nd time around! They are both selling their entire collections. I, myself, will be cutting back on the collecting as well because I am saving for a house! But I am not leaving the hobby completely...just scaling down a bit!
-
Hey Everyone,
Why doesn't Tower Hobbies carry the Desert Gator? I search their site frequently and I haven't seen it in their inventory yet. It has been out for a while now.
-
No! The TA05 version does not come with a finished body. The TT01 version does though! I am not sure of the part number.

why do we love vintage

I think the old old saying goes, "They just don't make em' like they used to!" I love the vintage kits because they were more complex, had many metal parts, were packaged better, and they bring back many childhood memories. The modern kits of today are made of mostly plastic. I still like the modern kits but there was more variety with the vintage kits.
