Tamiya Class Winter Indoors Series At Hinckley Rccc
Jammer replied to Eddystone's topic in Meetings & Events
LOL - as I was writing that, I wondered if I'd get a comment. As far as I'm concerned, the invitation is universal. Anyway - Warrington is only just north of the Midlands. I trust you and Erica are well; we hope to see you both soon at HRCCC. Richard (Eddystone) brought along his new micro camcorder today - we had great fun capturing in-car footage of the racing. I'll try and get it edited and on YouTube at some point over the weekend. Catch you later bud... James -

Seeing as there hasn't been any posts on this thread for a while, I thought I'd take the opportunity to remind everyone interested in racing at Hinckley that there's a meeting on tomorrow as usual. This will be the third round of the winter season and if last week is anything to go by, the racing will be great. We now have two heats of the 'Quick Silver' class on a regular basis and interest is growing all the time. Hope to see you there tomorrow. Doors open about 11:30 with racing from 13:00 and packed up by 18:00. If you're interested in using one of the ready-to-race Club Cars (use is free, you just pay the race fee), please let me know ASAP and I'll see if one is available. Cheers James (Jammer) -

Just a reminder that there isn't a meeting at HRCCC this week (Sat 12th). The final round of the Autumn season is on Sat 19th - where there'll be mince pie tasting, all-round festive cheer and a competition for the car decked with the best Christmas decorations! We'll be taking a short break from racing over Christmas, but will be back in the New Year with a non scoring meeting on Sat 2nd Jan. The 1st round of the new indoor season starts the following week on Sat 9th Jan. Cheers James -

If a TB-01 spur is supposed to fit a TB-02, but you had to drill it - I wonder whether the prop shaft in Erica's car is kit standard? -

Nice one Olly - I hear from Richard that you all had a fantastic race yesterday. I've seen the results and it looks like everyone's closing up on each other. Are you there next week? James -
Bargain basement rocket ship still for sale for the amazing price of just £125.00 Ideal Christmas pressie for this 'classic in the making' chassis or for the racer after a competitive buggy. Much cheaper than anywhere for sale in the UK and comparable to the cheapest ebay prices from the Far East (but without the risk of customs duty, long waits or lost in transit). Buy with confidence and feel good knowing that you're helping a fellow TC member raise funds towards his next project. Cheers James

Thanks again to you and Erica for joining us in sunny Hinckley today - I especially enjoyed our race in the second leg of the final; the best man finally prevailed. Let me know when you're down next and I'll make sure I'm available that week... All the best to you both James -

Hi Rich, Yes - please bring a table and chair with you. Mains power is available, so also bring an extension lead. Light refreshments are available, in the form of hot and cold drinks and chocolate, and some of us often have pizza delivered from Elvis' (contrary to popular belief - he's alive and living in Hinckley ). We're looking forward to you and your good lady joining us...see you on Saturday. Cheers James -
Lunchboc Esc Issue
Jammer replied to tomandjo2's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
Hi Tom, It depends on the application, running surface and gearing - I use a TEU101 with a Tamiya 23T Super Stock in a Frog on grass without any issues. However, I perhaps wouldn't use a 23T motor and the TEU101 speedo in a Lunchbox as the big wheels will place additional load on the motor/esc compared to a buggy. I'd stick with a 27T or upgrade the speedo to something tha'll handle lower turns. You can buy a budget brand 12T limit esc for approx. £25. James -

I'm dead chuffed you enjoyed yourself - thanks for posting this feedback. Watching you and David duking it out in the B Final was brilliant - you were both so evenly matched. I'd say that was my high-light of the racing yesterday - it was a real joy to watch. Cheers James -

Well...as promised - last week's Quick Silver meeting was a real belter. There should be even more people running this week - making it even better. Come along and see what all the fuss is about. (or else I'll keep posting!) James -
I've decided to let my Durga go as I know I'll never get around to racing it. It's NIB as the title suggests and just waiting for someone to give it a good home. I also have a number of hop-up parts that I'm planning on selling; however contact me to see if we can come to an arrangement as a job lot. UK only please due to high shipping costs to outside of the UK. P&P at buyers expense Payment by PayPal gift or personal cheque Please see my other trades. Thanks for looking James

Cool - thanks for getting back to me. James

Hi Fusion Hobbies, Do you have any news on the Tamiya Fiat 500 Abarth model just released which uses the M05 chassis? If it is to be exported to the UK, do you have any idea when it will be available? Cheers James (Jammer)

Here's a question for TC Members in the Midlands who want a bit of R/C fun over the weekend. Q. What do you do when the weather forecast for Saturday predicts heavy rain all day? A. That's easy - you bring your silver can powered touring car along to Hinckley Radio Controlled Car Club and have a great afternoon racing in the 'Quick Silver' series. As this weekend looks miserable - make your alternative plans now and join us. We'll be expecting even more racers this week - so the racing will be even closer. (I know - I can't believe it, but it's true! ) Go on - you know you want to... James -

Hi Amitooold, You're right...but I forgot to mention that the track layout at Hinckley usually includes a fast sweeper at the end of the main straight that you can take full blast. Cheers for you comment bud James -

Last Saturday was the second round of the indoor season at Hinckley RCCC. We had a good turnout, especially with the Mardave V12 heats due to the 2009 Mardave GP on the Sunday. This was my first opportunity to try my hand at the new Touring Car class orientated towards Tamiya cars. We had a good turn-out with a full heat - which was surprising as there were a number of people unable to make the meeting. I was running my newly built TT01 Type E (click here to see Quick Silver Racer), fitted with a couple of low-cost hop-ups to make it more suitable for racing. The first round - I'd put too much tyre additive on the front making it over-steer badly - it also topped out after 10ft due to the kit pinion and spur (19/61). For the second round - I changed the pinion and spur to 23/58 - this was much better and I improved by two laps, but the car still topped out half way down the main straight. Unfortunately I didn't have a higher gearing option with me, so I had to make do. That said, the car went great all day and really showed it's potential as a racer. This week, I think the racing is going to be even better - no doubt everyone will be trying to realise the potential of their car, which should lead to some close racing. I going to try a 25/55 pinion/spur gearing (overall ratio of approx 5.7) - this should allow it top out at the end of the straight. Assuming my alloy shocks arrive from HK - I'll also be seeing how much difference oil shocks make to the lap times. -
Retro Racers At Hinckley Radio Controlled Car Club
Jammer replied to Jammer's topic in Meetings & Events
Nice post Richard, I think the positive experience set by everyone who participated in the Retro Racers series has been a motivating factor for the Club to offer a Tamiya orientated touring car class this autumn. As with Retro Racers - the Club is offering the free use* of a Club Car (a newly built TT01 type E) to anyone who would like to try their hand at racing. All you need to do is contact the HRCCC Chairman (dale.knight@btconnect.com) to book the car prior to the meeting. *free use is subject to the usual race fee James
