  1. Is this what you are looking for sir , In very good condition , P.M. Me .

Hi skinner2 - thanks, but the one I'm after has 4 slots around the circumference of the can. The one you have only has two and looks like its a Mabuchi rather than a Johnson. Cheers anyway for taking to the time to respond. Have a Merry Christmas

  2. Fellow TC members,

We invite you to attend the 2011 Hinckley GP national indoor event in association with HPI and MB Models. The GP will be held at Hinckley Radio Control Car Club (HRCCC) - John Cleveland College on the 19th November 2011.

This year the Hinckley GP is back bigger and better than before - not only will we be crowning the 'National Mardave Champion', we're also introducing 3 new classes from our very successful silver can powered touring car championship series (Quick Silver). Universal in its appeal, the GP offers a class for everyone...

    • Mardave - V12 & Caterham (27 turn)

    • Quick Silver - TC Hyper-Stock (20 turn)

    • Quick Silver - TC Stock (27 turn)

    • Quick Silver - M Chassis (27 turn)

Close racing is guaranteed with the use of HPI's excellent Saturn motors. The motors will be handed-out at the start of the meeting and are included in the £15 entry fee. In additional we've secured a fantastic event offer on Sorex 28 tyres - available for just £23 per set.

Places are limited to 100 drivers, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Want to know more? No problem - we've created a mini-website for you with info, rules, entry form and forum - http://hinckleyrccc.co.uk/HinckleyGP

Thanks for your attention, we look forward to seeing you at the GP.

    James (on behalf of HRCCC)

  3. Hey James - have you been having trouble telling the time on your Mickey Mouse watch again???

No Hinckley race meeting I've ever attended finished at 3.30pm - I think you might mean 17.30 - right?!

Now just remember the big hand points to the minutes and the little hand points to the hours.

See you there tomorrow - roughly about when Mickey's big hand is pointing almost straight up and his little hand pointing down to his feet!

    Richard

    D'oh :)

Yup - thanks for that (although there's no need to take the Mickey :) ).

See you when Mickey's dancing to Saturday Night Fever then.

  4. Hi Folks,

It's been a while since I last posted a thread regarding racing at Hinckley Radio Control Car Club (HRCCC) - so thought it would be a good idea to remind everyone about our current outdoor buggy season.

We've moved our outdoor venue to the Hinckley Rugby Club on Leicester Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire (LE10 3DR) (see link) - we currently race on grass, catering for 1/10 electric buggies in 2WD open, 4WD open and Quick Silver (27turn sealed silver can powered) classes. All abilities are welcome and the atmosphere is easy-going.

    http://www.hinckleyrccc.co.uk/phpforums/vi...?f=8&t=1334

Meetings are run on a Saturday afternoon - we typically get around 30-40 drivers per meeting. The meeting format is 4 qualifying rounds (round by round) and a final for everyone. Booking in opens at 12:00 with racing starting around 13:00. Race fees are just £6 per class. Food and drinks are available.

The venue has played host to a round of the West Mids 2WD and 4WD Regional championship and we will be hosting the 2011 dBoots GP over the August Bank holiday (see link)

    http://www.hinckleyrccc.co.uk/phpfor...forum.php?f=52

The next race meeting is tomorrow (23/07/11) - so if you're at a loose end and want to come along, it'd be great to see you.

    Cheers

    James (Jammer)

  6. Amen Brother...

I've raced for a number of years, but have never known a club as supportive of newcomers as Hinckley RCCC. Not only does it offer the free use of club cars (Quick Silver and Mardave classes), but there are friendly club members on hand to help with charging, car maintenance and hints and tips. For those that have their own cars, Hinckley RCCC has a supply of Quick Silver motors, touring car tyres and Mardave V12 parts for sale. These items are competively priced.

Quick Silver is an excellent way to introduce youngsters to racing, due to the low running costs, sensible speeds and general spirit of the class. This week we had a young lad (aged about 8) trying his hand at racing for the first time. He finished an impressive second in the C Final - he and his dad loved it and intend to be back for more fun next week.

As Richard mentioned, we race on Saturday afternoons. Booking in is from 12:00 with racing starting at about 13:00. Racing typically finished around 18:00. For your race fee (just £6) you get three heats of qualifying and a two-leg final (five races in total).

So anyone thinking about racing - don't be shy - contact Richard or myself and we'll be delighted to welcome you to Hinckley RCCC.

    Cheers

    James

  7. Hi Baz,

    The beamer looks cool...

Just some basic tools should do fine. If you get a new charger, it would be a good idea to get one that can charge LiPo and LiFE cells as well as NiMH as you may up-grade cells at some point. There's plenty of choice for chargers on Ebay for less than £20 from HK - something like an iMAX B6 should be just the job - it would be useful to get one with a mains adapter.

I've not broken anything on my TT01, but I know the front knuckle arms can break. A cheap set of 50mm long alloy bodied oil shocks (such as Yeah Racing or 3-Racing - approx £10 a set) would also be useful, but not essential. You really don't need to chuck money at this class - a standard TT01 with the appropriate gear ratio is all you need.

Looking forward to racing with you again soon...

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for the nice comments about HRCCC, we very much appreciate the support.

Yes it was good to meet up last Saturday - your RC10 was great - seeing it reminded me of my teens reading copies of Radio Race Car. I there this week, but not the next - so I'll no doubt catch up with you and your mate in a few weeks time.

    Cheers

    James

  8. Hi im new to the forum and rc cars in general, very interested in some beginner class racing so if i get my new car built by Saturday I might come and have a look. It's the tt01e merc I've got hopefully on it's way. Hoping it'll be a little bit able to keep up with the others!

    Hi there WB...

As Richard said, hopefully we'll see you on Saturday. If I were you, I'd have a go with one of the free to use club cars first...you can get the feel for it and it'll give you more time to build the Benz.

    Cheers

    James (Jammer)

  9. Ah, seemed I missed you last Saturday James.... was you the guy setting up Neil Overson's son with the club Ta-01 car? We were pitting with Neil & Charlie Ware :)

I finished 2nd in 13.5 class but the first place guy was leagues ahead! Should hopefully be there for next week too, so I've got to do some serious thinking on my car's set-up. Would be good to see your Xevo Mini if you are racing then?

    Hi Dan,

Yes that was me - sorry I missed you. Sounds like you got a good result - hope you enjoyed yourself? I'll be there this week for sure, hopefully with the Xevo running - but if not I'll bring it with me so you can have a look.

    Catch you later...

    James

  10. Hoping to come along this Saturday (2nd Oct) Will be racing my Tourer in 13.5 class, will try & look out for you Jammer & say Hi!

Out of interest would my M03 Mini be elligable for the silvercan class? As it is running the standard Johnson 540?

    Hi Dan,

I'll be popping by at the begining of the meeting so I'll look out for you...unforunately I can't race this week B)

You'd be more than welcome to race with your M03 in the Quick Silver class - we had some guys running them last season - they performed really well amongst the TCs and were very entertaining. I'll be having a go soon with my Xevo conversion...

    Cheers for the post...

    James

  11. Hi Folks,

Thought you'd like to know the Quick Silver touring car series starts again this Saturday (25/09/10) at Hinckley Radio Control Car Club (HRCCC). For those you don't know about the Quick Silver series, let me take the opportunity to fill you in...

What is the Quick Sliver TC Series?

Quick Silver is an entry level 1/10 scale electric touring car class catering for all abilities. The class is intended to be a low cost and fun route into R/C racing due to the 'race what you brung' philosophy and 27T sealed silver can motor (e.g. Mabuchi RS540SH as found in Tamiya kits)) requirement. HRCCC also have 2 club cars available for use - free of charge.

    What is HRCCC like?

You can expect a warm welcome at HRCCC - our aim to make your Saturday afternoon's racing enjoyable. The club facilities are excellent with our large indoor track, pitting space, refreshments and model shop support.

    When do we race?

We race Saturday afternoons - booking-in opens from 12:00 with racing starting at 13:00. We aim to finish racing and have the track packed away by approx. 18:00. The format of the meeting is 3 qualifying rounds and a 2-leg final.

If you'd like to know more - send me a PM :)

    Cheers

    James (Jammer)

  12. Finally got to race at Hinkley's off road track yesterday.... Its typical that its your last meeting outside for this year! We enjoyed the nice relaxed atmosphere & a tasty burger! Rather chuffed with my 3rd in the A .... not bad for a 17 year old RC10! (I think it suits grass tracks better than Astroturf) Roll on next year for more off roading, though i'm sure we'll be over during the winter for some T.C fun ;-) Ps; shame there was no 'retro racing' yesterday?

    Hi Dan,

Pity all the vintage boys were away this week, but I'm glad you made it down and had a good time. Let us know when you're coming down next.

    Cheers bud

    James

  13. The steering works fine and when the motor is plugged in the ESC does beep yes, and the light constantly flashes!

Confused about the 'red' wire though as its definitely plugged into the receiver.

For the avoidance of doubt Mark was referring to the wire from the speedo with the 2-pin red plug (with red and black wires) - this needs to go into the BATT socket on the receiver. This is in addition to the 3-pin signal wire (with white, red and black wires) from the speedo that plugs into channel 2 of the receiver.

Just a thought - have you got the plugs the right way around into the receiver? The black wire should be towards the outside of the receiver case.

  14. I will be attending on July 3rd - so long as there is racing that day.

I really hope it doesn't pee down and get called off as the 3rd is the only Saturday I can get off for the forseeable future ;)

Will be good to see you guys again.

    Hi Olly,

Good to hear from you - How are things?

I should be there on the 3rd July.

    Cheers

    James

  15. James,

I know its a few weeks away. But I should be able to make June 19th to begin with. Are you attending most weeks? Might be able to get a few other people down as well.

    Hi Andy,

Sorry it's taken a while to reply - I've been without my PC whilst it was being up-graded.

It'd be great to see you and your mates on the 19th - fingers crossed the weather will be nice.

    Cheers

    James

  16. I would love to guys but have started a new job and work Friday and Saturday nights so no can do :(

Thats why I haven't been to the indoor for so long. But I should be entitled to some holiday in few weeks so will try to squeeze a Saturday off and come and join you.

    Hi Olly,

Bummer :) ...but on the birght side; what better way to spend your holiday than racing at Hinckley?

Let me know when you're intending to pop along and I'll make sure I'm there.

    Cheers

    James

  17. You must of been reading my mind James, as I was wondering today when the vintage racing would be starting.

I will hopefully be able to make a few meet`s this summer.

To anyone who hasnt been for the vintage racing, get it in you know it makes sense!

    Hi Andy,

Good to hear from you...it'd be nice to race with again.

    Catch you later bud

    James

  18. Hi Folks,

Just thought you'd like to know that the 2010 Retro Racers vintage buggy series at Hinckley Radio Control Car Club (HRCCC) in Leciestershire is back for the Spring/Summer season.

If you missed us last season, here's the details:

    When

Every Saturday afternoon from now until September.

People start turning up from 11:15 to help lay the track and book in. Racing starts approx. 13:00 with a 18:00 finish (all packed away).

    Where

On HRCCC's excellent outdoor grass track at John Cleveland College, Hinckley (Leics). Here's the HRCCC address for further directions:

    http://www.hinckleyrccc.co.uk/index.htm

    Cost

Just £7 a race meeting for non-members or £6 for members (annual membership fee is £16 inc. BRCA insurance).

    Class

The Retro Racers series is open to all, whether you're a novice or national racer. The class is orientated towards having fun rather than serious racing. You can race any 2WD or 4WD electric buggy or truck that was first released pre 1996 (this includes subsequent re-released models (e.g. Frog, Hornet, Hotshot etc.) or chassis variants). The motor must be a sealed silver can 27T motor as typically found in Tamiya kits - for example Mabuchi RS540SH. You can use either 7.2V NiCd/NiMh sub C cells or 7.4V 2S LiPo (hard cased only).

If you have any questions - just ask.

    Facilities

There are light refreshments available, large pitting areas, a Club Car (available for use free of charge - ask for details) and a mobile model shop.

    More Information

Here's a YouTube link of the racing from last season...

So if you're interested and would like to give your vintage runner a race - come and join us at HRCCC.

    Cheers

    James
