  1. Hey thanks for the info guys. Will settle for a sport tuned motor until my driving skills improve - which shouldn't be to long hopefully. Its a shame Tamiya didn't make this range of cars able to take an 8.4V set up. I think in the long run I may look at getting some serious upgrades on the go from the Top Force range. Still well pleased with my car though
  2. Hi everyone, a newbie here with a few questions. I recently decided to rekindle my childhood obsession with Tamiya RC. After trawling through the forums here in search of advice I decided to buy a Dirt Thrasher. This car seemed like the best all round compromise in terms of very good looks, parts availability and all round performance. I must say I'm hugely pleased with it, its a beast of a car. I built it up fully ball raced and custom painted it a brilliant red. Because my first Tamiya was a Hornet I even bought a Hornet driver from ebay and painted him up to go inside (why don't all these new Tamiyas have drivers? How are they supposed to drive themselves?) Anyway to cut a long story short in my first week of driving the car I ploughed it head-first into a wall at top speed (hey I hadn't 'driven' a RC car since 1988) needless to say this didn't to the 4WD drive shaft any good which bent badly. Since the car is out of action at the moment I thought i may as well upgrade a few other bits of it too whilst I have it apart. I was thinking of a sport tuned motor for some extra speed, is this the best Tamiya motor to get? I would love some extra speed but not at the huge sacrifice of battery power. I also think the suspension sags a little so I was going to go for some harder shok oil. The other question I have is to do with the battery. Is there anyway of getting a 8.4V battery in there or am I looking at that just not being an option? thanks in advance for any advice ps I'll get some pics of my Thrasher into my showroom soon. along with the Hornet driver I also put some Hornet fog lamps onto her. She looks pretty cool I must say
