  4. Yip, I think that there are loads of us like that. I was given a Manta Ray chassis the other day, By 8pm that same night I had stripped it down, cleaned every part and was assembling it. So far in the last week I have ordered a new "A" and "B" tree as I wasn't too happy with the play in the bearing journals. Have also replaced the drive shafts and now looking at the wear in the gears. Where will it all end? Also at the moment stripping the paint of a midnight pumpkin shell............. well the lad who owned it must have put the paint on with a builders trowel. So far three coats have come off and I have also found the original stickers. But hey, we love it and will carry on with it. If it wasn't for this hobby, what would I spend my money on, the pub maybe? So in answer to Petes question about being too fussey, I don't think we are. We just take a lot of pride in what we do.
  5. Hi Shodog Had water papered the shell with 320 paper last night, it's not looking too bad at the moment, but will take ages to get the whole shell clean. The person who owned it had caked the paint on with a brush, will take my time and see it turns out ok. Cheers Dave
  6. Hi Guys, A big thank you to both of you. Went to Tesco on way home and got the oven cleaner, will give it a go tonight. 7. Hi there, I managed to pick up a Midnight Pumpkin body as part of a lot that I got on ebay, The paint work is to say the least Very Rough. What is the best way of removing the paint and getting it back to bare plastic? Can I use break fluid to remove the paint then wash it all with a solvent? Not too sure. All help would be appreciated. Dave
  8. Hi Andy http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58360 Have a look at this site, I am restoring a Manta Ray at the moment and down loaded the manual off this site. Managed to get the part numbers of the parts that I needed. Looked up these on the TC parts shop. Some part numbers have changed so you may have to email Neil at office@goldstarstockists.com Neil managed to give me all the new part numbers and I managed to buy them here at the Tamiya Club online. The process was really easy. Hope this helps. Dave

  11. Hi, I am restoring a TL01 project and am looking for information about parts that I need. At present the chassis has the short suspension wish bones and dog bones, I would like to get a full set of the long ones, so it will suit the body that I want to mount on it. Also in need of the wild ceptor wheels and tyres. If any one could help me with the part numbers of the respective parts trees etc that I can buy that would be great. I also have a Mants Ray project on the go, and require the part numbers for the front dog bones the rest I have already managed to get my hands on. Any advice would be great. Dave

  18. Hi I have an ABS body shell that I would like to paint, what I need to know is do I need to put an undercoat on the plastic before I start to put the top coat on. If the undercaot is required which one would I use, as I will be using Tamiya paint as the main colour. Another question, I also have an air brush. What sort of compressor would I use for it and what sort of paint could I put through it. what sort of mixture ie: paint to thinners etc. All help would be greatly appreciated. Dave
