  1. Can anyone tell me how you can identify the age of Tamiya catalogues? I got one the other day and its got pictures of the scorcher rough rider, bruiser and hilux, other cars seem to be formula 1 type cars. Very nice.
  2. Someone must have one of these they want to get rid of to make way for other projects, come on, let us know. Si.
  3. Hello Chaps and chappesses, long time no speak, After a long hiatus i am now back in the picture and back into the tamiya mood, its been a long summer, new job (where I actually have to work), new wife (well first wife actually)and drumming in a band playing various gigs limited my spare time. But now that I have things back on track and running smoothly I thought I would resubscribe and say hello. Two reasons for making this post (other than to say hello) Firstly, I would like to apologise to anyone who has emailed me lately for anything in my trade room, I have been having problems with my email, so please dont think I was being rude and ignoring you, thats not my bag baby, if I have not replied, I have not recieved your email. Secondly, just to let those of you who know about it know, I have taken down my oldertamiyaparts.co.uk site as I am revamping it and taking stock, so it will be back up soon, panic not I will post when up. Cool. Si.
  4. Check out my website, www.oldertamiyaparts.co.uk I have chassis plate, part trees, Universal drive shaft set and rear for sale.
  5. 4 Scorcher shocks. Check trade room for more details Si.
  6. A project that would make a great runner. See Trade room for more details. Si.
  7. Check my trades for more details. Si.
  8. I think you guys are just expecting too much of people, in general, not just on the club. The internet as much as anything is reducing purchases/trades down to a pure cost based thing and people view the whole e-trading thing as a tool to make thier life easier, not a device for making friends or chatting about details id="size1"> Chris, its a fair point, but surely that in its self defeats the purpose of the club? Isnt this supposed to be a place thats makes life easier for the collectors as they can make friends and chat about the details? I can appreciate that there are many many fine upstanding people in the club I have done a number of trades both buying and selling with some great people. Perhaps I should just get used to the fact that the club is growing day by day and people bring their "e-trading" attitude along to the club. However, if everyone had that sort of attitude would the club still be a friendly place? I still stand by the fact that manners cost nothing, it takes two seconds to type a "thanks, but I've changed my mind" email. Ok, from now on, no more worrying. Oh and just one more thing, I do normally on my emails put something along the lines of "please let me know either way"
  9. [!] Right, I am starting to get more than a little bit frustrated with some people who either have no manners or are just time wasters. Can I please please ask that if you enquire about something in someones trade room and they go to the effort of getting pics and writing detailed emails on the item for sale and you then decide that you dont want the item after all, that you at least send them an email saying "thanks but no thanks". I have of late missed out on two sales because people who had told me they were really interested in things have just not bothered getting back to me,and then if/when I go back to a member that had shown interest whilst I was waiting for a response, they have already found something else. Now I am not suggesting that people respond to every single email, (although a one line email saying "no thanks" wouldnt hurt), I myself in the past have not replied if I have asked if something is still for sale and the answer is yes (although 99% of the time I will) but if someone goes to the effort of supplying pics, detailed emails etc and you change your mind, then please just be curtious. Its not ebay, it doesnt take much and I think it makes for a better club. Rant over.
  10. I believe his tamiya id is tamiya wizard. I dont think its fair to pass on his phone number, without him consenting.
  11. They certainly are the same. Clive I have a bolink lexan beetle shell brand new and uncut, let me know if you're interested. They are a really good replica. Cheers Si,
  12. his gazelle-like gymnastic talents at avoiding cars hurtling towards him (even in flight)is something all should be able to enjoy id="size1"> This is true, no matter how many times I tried I just couldnt get him, I almost got him on the Sunday[]
  13. Hi Clive, Thanks for the info, good to see you back on the boards. Cheers Si.
  14. I have a Ford Escort cosworth on the TA01 chassis and am planning to strip it down clean, rebuild and hop it up, but am thinking that the body might need to be saved, so, is there any other rally car type bodies that will fit on this chassis? Is there any way to improve the ground clearance on this car? Also has anyone got any good suggestions for worthwhile hopups for this car, aside from the esc, motor and ballraces?
  15. I ran in 5 races and only one of the cars came out without something happening to it - the top force, which is a surprise 'cos I was expecting to break the front frp shock tower. Fortunately for the most part, it was screws or bolts coming loose and bits falling off, thanks to Andy (twinset) for retrieving them for me, although I only seemed to have these probs when he was marshalling and it usually happened around the area he was standing??!?!?!?! The mini body had a bit of a hard time, some splits and paint flaking off. But the mini race was by far the best one, in my opinion! The 959 took a bit of a hammering, it was new built (am I mad???) the right front wheel got pushed into a 90 degree position and one of the drive shafts came out, but fortunately I found it. Oh and for your information, with a Dynatech 02H motor in, these things fly! But, at the end of the day, if I didnt want to damage them, they would be on a shelf somewhere.
  16. Moosey and bugsy you did good! It was good to see a few familiar faces and indeed see some new ones. So the summer meet then........
  17. Animal chin, now theres a blast from the past! the bones videos were always good, I have Animal Chin, Public domain and Ban this on video, I also liked the Santa Cruz vids, Wheels of fire and Streets on fire. Very 80s but remind me of simpler happier times. I think the Ramp in London you are talking about was called Latimer Road, it had about 2ft vert on it and was right down the road from a gypsy camp making it dangerous to skate late in the afternoon as they liked to come and watch, which basically meant throw stones at you, I first learnt to drop in there. It was insane! Have never been to Southsea, I remember trying to get there once and we got completely lost and ended up finding some mini ramp in a park so we skated there instead. Happy care free days.
  18. Did someone say skateboarding??? Been a skater for 15 years. I am sponsored by a little known company called antichrist, http://www.antichristskatewear.com/ I am the last person in the riders section and if you look in the wrecked section the last two photos are of me, although they arent very good. Mullen does rule, however would have to disagree with the inventing street skating as he started out as a freestyler [], although I will agree that he has invented many of the tricks as he did them in freestyle and then progressed them to street. I personally favour Hawk for vert/bowl/pool and bringing skaeboarding to the mainstream(now theres an inovator), Vallely for insanity, Pat duffy for triple flips Willy Sanchez for anything and Bob Burnquist for being an all round good skater and cool guy. Oh and the clip rocks!!!
  19. Guys and Gals attending Snett, what think you of marchalling for the race after the one you have competed in? Its standard club procedure down my local, and think its only fair? Last your Chris's daughter did a sterling job, but I think it was a little unfair as she was running around like crazy. Or shall I get my coat?
  20. How could I forget...! It went something like this... : -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by BiggusDitchus You seem to have forgotten the usual pile up at the start line (remember vintage 4wd last year) id="size1"> bigwigs fair quite well though!!! 21. Chaps, just to give you an idea of what I will be bringing to sell where ever is allowed over the weekend[], I have put together a list: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=10844&id=500 In most cases these are reduced prices from my website, which will be for Snetterton only. I am sure I will probably add more in nearer the time. I am also considering bringing a load of used odds and sodds and bunging them in and all items a pound box. Also should you wish to buy anything from the site, let me know and I can bring it with me at the weekend. I will be in the silver PT cruiser and obviosuly I am ginger, so give us a shout. Cool Si.
  22. From last year at Snetterton (which was my first meet) I learend that you need the following (in no particular order): -A coat -3 jumpers (to be warn at same time!!!) -Extra thick wind proof trousers -Extra thick gloves -Food -Warm drinks -A laid back attitude (needed for when other people are using the same frequency off track whilst you are racing on track as you car hurtles into the side and smashes the front end up) -Cash and plenty of it -Stuff you want to sell/trade Oh and some cars to run might be good too.
  23. Chris, Can I put my name down for XL in blue please mate. Cheers Si.
