  1. There's always Dakko who have a logodesign rather similar to Nikko.
  2. I know I'll be one of the offenders, and here's why: I signed up and put the text in for my one car, snapped a few pictures and happily noticed I have about half the roll left. Brother's child's baptising took care of another few shots. (But I still have a few left, and I wouldn't want to waste any needlessly.) Christmas took care of my money so no developing the film anyway this month. Well, that's my excuse. I hope my membership isn't revoked when my car is removed for lack of a picture. I have one solution, although not a good one. I have one picture where you can see most of my car which I could upload. Your call, I'lll happily accept whatever happens. The picture in question is at http://www.griffindesign.org/musicstall.html
  3. The Lunch Box. I don't know why exactly, like I don't know why I like particular color or certain tastes. It certainly looks like it's fun to drive and vans are terribly underrepresented as RC cars. In fact, now that I think about it, are there any other RC vans? (Not counting those butt-ugly family vans of recent years.) However, if I got to design a Tamiya car of my own it would be a 1:8 glow engine buggy with long flowing shapes but enough flat surfaces for those that like to go overboard with their paint motifs. Barring that, a 1:10 electric buggy with a tub chassis with a lid to keep out snow, water, sand and rocks so you can enjoy real offroad driving without a painfully long cleaning period.
  4. pUs>Thanks, much appreciated. Now all I have to do is get a drill, since my "tool collection" basically consists of two screwdrivers and a good pair of scissors (Who needs exacto knifes anyway? .)
  5. Here's what's available from my favorite hobby store, and the approximate price in dollars. 53033 56 53038 210 50348 11 50347 26 50351 20 53005 11 53006 12 53032 44 53031 64 53004 10 53009 19 50349 21 50350 31 I'd have to buy it for you so we'd have to arrange for transferring money.
  6. That should of course be $8. My bad.
  7. The closest thing to see what's readily available would be the Tamiya Radio Control Guidebook, a yearly publication which costs about $80 and is available from most hobby stores. Also if there's a particular model that interests you, a quick search in a search engine should tell if it's still available in stores or not. Some suggested sites are www.tamiyausa.com and www.etamiya.com.
  8. pUs> If you have a picture showing where to fit that fourth screw that would be great, I have some difficulty seeing exactly where that fourth screw would go. And if anyone could clear up the difference between the Top Force Evolution plates and the Manta Ray FRP chassis plates that'd be great also since looking at pictures of both they seem to be identical. (Based on the Top Force Evo pictures from the Tamiya RC Catalogue.) And before I do something stupid, exactly how much can these plates handle, compared to the standard honeycomb-patterned bathtup chassis? Should I save it for (semi-serious) racing or can I use it both for that and for bashing?
  9. I fitted a Manta Ray FRP chassis to my Manta yesterday, and that's the same as the Top force evo comes with. The forwardmost holes on the bottom plates looks like they are so close to the edge that it would easily break but I don't really know how stordy the material actually is since I haven't put it through anything yet.
  10. Since I only have a single car, the Manta Ray you can guess what my pride and joy is . One month ago I made up my mind to deck it out with all possible options which currently include the Manta Ray FRP chassis, aluminium motor mount and new antenna. I've set aside $50 a month for the project which should last me until about march 2004. I've also started looking at a few other Tamiyas and hope they'll make a glow engine buggy some day since buggies are really my favorite. If I come across a cheap model new I'll buy it though, and currently the Toyota Celica GT four and New Beetle are on sale at my fave store.
  11. No problem. There's still a few Avante parts available at my favorite hobby store but the products are new and the prices reflect that if you or someone else is interested later. Just bought a frp chassis for my Manta Ray and that clocked in at $90. Gotta love our 25% sales tax. My estimated total hopping up cost is approximately $1200.
  12. I'm trying to get a hold of my first RC cars but with nothing but the most basic memories of their looks it's getting to be rather difficult. If anyone knows of a site with pictures of vintage Nikko RC cars it would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Is that Tamiya part 53038? If so I can very probably get it for you new if that's desireable. Price would be $201 plus shipping.
  14. Rainbow 10 is the website I looked at too, altough I got more confused than anything else trying to figure out the potential shipping type and cost.
  15. This sounds similar to how my Manta Ray behaves and on that car the size of the hole in which the steering tie-rod is led is too large causing the right tire to swivel more than the left one. Either the steering tie-rod has to be adjusted or replaced something must be used to fill in the hole.
  16. According to my Tamiya Radio Control Guide Book the CPR unit can handle all the Tamiya motors which is the only things I use. That information was accurate as of 1997 which might mean that the latest stock motors (the type r and type t) from Tamiya might be too powerful but I won't touch those yet, I think that the Dynatech 02H will be enough to meet my need for speed. And no, I haven't seen the CPR unit here either, that would have to be imported too. (I've actually browsed Tamiyas danish side for the approximate Swedish price too since there is no Swedish Tamiya site.) So now I have too chose weather to get the Adspec with the CPR or only the CPR. I won't have to make up my mind just yet though, I still have to get some more ball bearings, ball diffs and universal shafts.
  17. I can't find info on this thing anywhere so I thought I'd ask you. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=1922874810
  18. I'm currently in the process of getting an ESC but that costs about the same as the CPR unit. But does the CPR unit work with any radio or do I need a Tamiya radio system (which isn't available in Sweden* so I'll need to import one, whee!)? And for those that have a Tamiya radio what are your experiences with it, good, bad or anything else? *Instead they bundle a charger and a battery with an Acoms technisport radio.
  19. The ideal bashing surface is house foundations (especially the garage floor), you get enough grip to accelerate but not enough to break well. If you have the opportunity, try it, I wore down half my Manta Rays tire spires that way. Match the motor to the surface though, too fast and you'll only be flying off. On the ice rink the important thing is to accelerate slowly, I'm thinking ESC would be best. Putting spikes/spires on the tires just takes away from the fun.
  20. I just looked through my one and only Tamiya catalogue and the latest number car was 58190. I also think the one Toyota Celica I'm getting isn't the one you were looking for (the GT-Four). Guess that this taught me to not post anything when not at home and having my Tamiya stuff near. Oh well.
  21. If you can wait a month or two I'll have the Celica and snap a photo, unless you want the catalog photo which I can get too.
  22. Personally I'm all for it, although the format could be slightly different. Once a month is totally ok, this is just another suggestion. Maybe som kind of award like "showstopper" or somesuch and used for it's own small gallery, so all the really incredible looking cars could be collected in one place. This would ease browsing quite a bit, and as someone who is using a modem that would be greatly appreciated. How this would hurt someone's feelings I really don't understand. I could understand if it was the other way round (i.e. with worst/ugliest) but this would only serve to highligth some of the best without saying that others are bad. This is the way with a lot of things in life. Still if some are to sensitive if they don't get the awards, then by all means, don't have it.
  23. I just take out the electronic stuff then take it to the shower, the non stainless steel stuff is then taken out and dried and put back after all is dry. Actually right now, it's standing in a friends shower since it's been out for a walk/run.
  24. Pagani Zonda Ferrari Testarossa Lamborghini Diablo Boring cars, I know, but I just love super cars.
