  1. I'm all of 28 years old, but I rather see myself as, um, an old youth although the grey hairs has already come.
  2. My favorite hobby store doesn't have anything to do with RC but with RPGs. It's Tradition in Stockholm. Most of the charm of the store disappeared when they moved from a small basement to the really high high street. Was the first one I ever visited that sold english products and it's one of two hobbies that has really stuck with me for this long, 15 years (the other is comics). My interest in RC cars is only 10-11 years.
  3. It would be self-defeating to reveal my source until I've raided it myself. (This comes from having bad experiences with these things before.) However, as soon as I've bought one set for myself I'll gladly share it with everyone. Seen one on ebay at least, but then, what can't you get there.
  4. Well, "fortunately" I dont have a LHS so I can order from anywhere guilt free. However I'd rather buy from someone face to face and in store since that makes it less of a hassle should something be wrong with a product, also a LHS is usually a great place to make friends with similar interests on a more local level. My policy now is that I will buy within my country if the price is not more than twice of the price abroad. A lower price than half and I will tolerate any extra hassle that may come from it.
  5. Yes, I can see the improvement that chassi would give overall, but my main concern is the price. The Manta Ray specific frp costs about £50/90$ while the generic TA02 is half that, so it'd be nice to know the main difference or if it's just a producing factor (ie, less being produced equals higher price).
  6. First, thanks for the answers. I just got my first hop-ups today, a stainless steel driveshaft, a motor mount and some ball bearings. So most of my questions are answered (the gears were explained in the motor mount bag) but I still need to know what's in those frp sets. Since I don't plan to compete other than with friends and family maybe I should stick to the normal plastic chassis since they protect against dust, snow and such better. Still it would be nice to have a fully hopped up car just to try it out on a long straight. One more question though, which I forgot in the first post, the front right wheel, the one that's not connected directly to the servo svivels a lot more than the left wheel. This would seem to happen to all cars with this setup since there's some extra wiggle room in the holes where the metal steering rod goes in. Any good fixes for this?
  7. I just discovered rainbow ten, the japanese store with english pages, and compared to them, prices for most items are the double of what I pay here in Sweden. Batteries, controllers and the kits themselves are just slightly lower in places but all spare parts are at half price. It's almost E-b..that auction site we all know and love.
  8. The alternative would be to get a yahoo site, they come complete with upload tools so you can edit easily over the internet, and load the pictures without a ftp-program of your own.
  9. Yep, have a ton of questions and you seem just the guys to answer them. I have a Manta Ray, no hop-ups or anything. 1) Motors. I'm going to upgrade the motor sometime this year and I'd like your opinions on the following motors and how they compare: The sport tuned, the Dynatech 01R and the Dynatech 02H. I also want to know if the newer stock motors can be used (the type-r and type-t) and how they compare in that case. 2) Electronic speed control. Do I need to install one with the motors? 3) If anyone knows the actual contents of 53099 hop up (manta ray frp chassis), and how they compare to 53166 (4wd frp chassis set) and if the second one can be used. 4) Is the DT01-chassis the new version of the TA02 which the Manta Ray has, or is there another newer version? 5) Gears. If I'm not totally confused, a larger gear means faster speed? So how much larger gear can one use? A 21 comes with the car. And the motor mount has different motor placements depending on size, from 16-21, what shall one do when installing a larger gear? And how much bigger gear can one choose before over heating the motor? Thanks.
