  1. I am selling a dubbed Tamiya vintage promotional video featuring all the classic pre Hotshot cars as displayed at Hobby stores in the early eighties!I am selling the video in Australian dollars but you will get the video super cheap because of the low Aust dollar!I bought the video from E-bay USA awhile ago but it is still in great condition!I am a very honest seller, buy with confidence!!!!!!!!For all the details go to my traderoom!Or search under-Tamiya vintage promotional vodeo!
  2. Hi Willy! Who made the packs? An Australian company called "R/C Hobby-Master series"!They look like they have been assembled to a basic standard-nothing special! They are definately Sanyo cells,I can see them through the see through pack! They only cost $30.00 each, the cheapest packs I have ever bought!
  3. They definately get hot!!!!I'm not talking lukewarm,I'm talking "Extremely" hot!!!!!But I can't avoid it!
  4. I bought two "cheap" Sanyo 1700mah battery packs awhile ago.The problem with the same cells started after I bought a really hot motor which made the cells overheat to a high degree compared to running it with the stock 540's!The main problem is the general speed of the car,it has slowed down to almost half the speed(After 40 runs)! I don't know what the problem is?Can you please give me some advice!!!I don't use the batteries for long periods as well....can this be a reason as well????
  5. A new Tamiya 959 nib for $416????They usually go for $1500+!Check out he link below!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=44022
  6. Hi Racing Master! If you want a really detailed description of the txt-1 as well as the most suitable mods, check out the link below,I think it is the best txt-1 website on the web!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://home.att.net/~dgelowitz/txt_faq/
  7. Hello! I am currently running a Tamiya Blazing Star with all the stock gear but find it really boring because of the slow 540's motor speed!I want to modify the car slowly, starting with a 15 double motor first! Can I run this motor without the "aluminium motor mount" as I have done before with my Mantaray-I had no problems at all!Can you please comment on the effects of a 15 double motor without the alaminium motor mount or other mods that are needed with the increased speeds! Thanks!
  8. Do any of you collect vintage gas cars?I think this topic has been totally overlooked!Do these cars still exist in NIB?Are they collectable? When were they made and who made them?Do any of you own vintage gas cars or know anyone who does????
  9. Hi! I was wondering what the best method is to applying stickers onto a car body!Do I use cold or hot water, soapy water ect?Can you give me little ideas that will make it easy to do and done properly.Smallest tips count!
  10. Hello! I am in the midst of getting a Blazing Star! Can you tell me more about this buggy!Does it have any weaknesses? Will it be good for just bashing around?I want to put a 15 double mod motor, will it handle it well?
  11. I heard about the mini-z Overlands a few months back. They are finally out and in full production.I think they will be best sellers, will any of you be making a trip to your LHS really soon?Any opinions on these cars? How do you think they will handle for such a small vechile?Do you think an off road "buggy" will be inevitable? Check out the link below!!! http://www.kyosho.com/cars/kyod27.html
  12. The Hotshot was my first car back in 85(11 at the time)!I had the exact same problem. The thing that you shoudn't do is stretch the springs so the car will have better absorbtion(Kind of sinks if you don't do this),this will just make the components of the front shock wear and wear and soon afterwards thread!Maybe you should try putting some Tamiya liquid threadlock in all the screws and leave it at your prefered setting! I also bought the Hotshot/Supershot hop-up suspension system-what a relief!!!!Just a fantastic improvement overall! There selling these kits at e-bay for about $50.00 US!A definate improvement if you consider buying it!
  13. The Punky Brewster Frog still exists?I thought the series was made in Chicago, not California! It's funny but I still have a tape of that show with all the cars, just caught 15 minutes of it on vcr!I remember seeing the same episode when I was 12 years old(29 now),I was quiet a big fan of the show back then.It might be a kids show, especially kids with really bad taste but it brings back alot of memories, all the happy memories of being a kid and living in a perfect daydream world, nothing can replace that, even collecting all of these cars, like we all do,isn't that what the vintage part of Tamiyaclub is all about-coming close to something that will never happen again! Does the frog still have all the color on it's body and wheels like the original car?Where did your friend get it?
  14. I was wondering what the similarities are between the Manta Ray and Topforce Evolution?Where both cars the first as well as the last in the series?
  15. Speaking of daryn1,I recently bought an issue of the aussie mag "R/C cars for road and track" and saw that Daryn took part in the quiz as well as donating a few vintage pics.Good job mate!Really enjoyed the vintage quiz(got 20 right!)and your contribution to it!Well done!
  16. I was watching a Punky Brewster episode awhile ago, early in the morning,Punky won a prize which happened to be a NIB Tamiya Frog, soon after she went racing with other MRC Tamiya cars, the list included a hornet,FAV,Suburu Brat,Superchamp,Pajero,as well as a Wild willy and a Hotshot that were on a workbench! There is also an "Australian" movie which features a Sand Scorcher robbing a bank with a spy camera and a nerdy guy controlling the SS.Other Aussies that have seen this movie might help me out with the name of this flick!,it's about a nerdy inventor who meets some hoods that convince him to turn to a life of crime!
  17. The three hardest Tamiya nib kits to find?Is the Lancia Rally one of them? There is only one kit in full nib form that is owned by a Tamiya club member! The description bedside the car also says the same thing!
  18. The auction for the black porsche 934 just ended! The reserve was not met even though the price went to $3650!!!Gee,that's extraordinary! Are there other vintage products that Tamiya has made that have been this collectable or rare?
  19. Do any of you own suspension mountain bikes? Are they dual or front? What brand are they? Can you post some pics?!I'v had five, which have included a GT,Shogun, two Giants as well as my current Apollo twin suspension. Are any of you really into this type of hobby/sport/fun?
  20. I really like and love Fleetwood Mac,Pink Floyd,U2,Dire Straits,Led Zepplin,ACDC,Neil Young,Offspring,Fuel,Marlyn Manson(art!),Elton John,The Beatles,John Lennon,Garbage,Ozzy Osbourne ect!Just got the Xanadu sountrack on cd a day ago-WOW!!!
  21. Have any of you heard of the Tamiya black porsche 934?I recently saw one on ebay for $3000+ in nib condition, complete with a black carry bag!Whats so good aboout this car????Curious!!
  22. Do any of you have r/c websites?I'd love to see them!Apart from Tamiya club, which is the best site of it's type in the world,I have only seen Daryn's retro site,as well as Big Al's and DJ Theo's.It would be great to have a look at all of them!
  23. Do any of you own cars that are strictly shelf queens? How many do you have?Where do you keep them? What are your reasons for building these cars and then never using them?I remember seeing a few cars displayed in a expensive window cabinet with immaculate cars sitting on the shelves!Could this be an alternative to nib collectors who like seeing these cars in preserved condition?Any thoughts on this type of r/c collecting?Something Darryn1,spice,bcollection ect might consider doing in the future??
  24. Have any of you owned or might consider owning a bb gun or an air rifle? They are super cheap as well as total fun!Unfortunately, most of the u.s. mail order companies don't ship them to Australia as well as other parts of the world that have strict gun laws even though some might consider them harmless and just a toy. The Daisy 1938 Red Ryder bb gun is still in production, the same one little Ralphy use to daydream about,at the movie "A Christmas story"! I remember using my cousins airgun when I was about ten years old,we use to shoot at old dolls and empty KFC containers!I have also used a pistol bb gun with the orange pellets-cool!You need a licence for these if you are in Australia. You might want to check out some of the links below1Go to Daisy products, then youth guns if you want to see the RR 1938!Both companies have youth guns as well as competition level guns! http://www.daisy.com/ http://www.airgunstore.com/
  25. I don't understand why the SS is so desirable either. As a kid the car that I prefered most in the same league was the Superchamp! You can get one from e-bay in NIB form for dirt cheap.Has any one tried putting a SS body on a Superchamp? Can it be done(Interesting)??The performance will be better too! It's also intresting to note that people in thier late twenties prefer cars like the Frog,Hotshot,Hornet ect, while people who are thirty plus usually like the older kits that Tamiya produced, like the Racig buggies!I think this has something to do with the earlier kits being more expensive, more complex to build, and eventually seeing buggies like I formely mentioned, becoming hugely popular during the Tamiya boom in the mid eighties!
