Are there any of you that like or own Schumacher cars?I recently went to Metro Hobbies,Melbourne and saw a Schumacher Fireblade Evo!The store is selling the kit for a inexpensive price compared to competitors with cars in the same status! The car is marketed as "the best 2wd offroad buggy in the world"-quiet a big claim! My first memories of Schumacher cars stem from Masami winning the worlds with a CAT XLS,as well the same car being on the front cover of the first issue of r/c cars for dirt and track!I also remember Hobby Place(melbourne)stocking the same car(1987-88?)Any opinions on these cars?

I was wondering how big are your collections are in numbers? How many cars do you have?Do any of you have 50+ collections or even bordering the 100 mark?Or a little over? What do most of these collections consist of?Nib's,new built,runners,projects--reasons??Some of you guy's are really insane! Can you imagine your collections doubling in a few years time-we'll see collections going towards the 200 mark? Are you in it for the long term?Do you think this hobby will present something new all the time?

When I think of legendery Tamiya cars, the one that sticks out the most is the Tamiya Frog! The Frog was the profoundly popular in it's time and introduced many people to real R/C.Just a truly legendery car!!

Hello! I am selling a video cassette that features a vast collection of the old Tamiya buggies/on road cars as displayed in Hobby stores during the early eighties! These clips have all the cars running in action with music in the background! The video has all kinds of models such as the Blazing Blazer,Roughrider,SandScorcher,Sand Rover,Holiday buggy,Hilux,Bruiser,Ranger,Superchamp,Hornet, frog,Grasshopper,Wild Willy,Lancia Rally,Porsche 956,FAV,as well as a feast of other cars(Big collection of vintage on road cars!)!!!I am selling it supercheap and consider the video as a real investment to Tamiya collectors, especially for the price as well as what some of you are paying for these cars(Insane!).Relive each moment as the cars you love are seen running during the exact time period,as they were in thier prime! These are the clips that drew huge crowds in front of a small tv in popular LHS's-personally I remember them vivdly in Hobbyplace as well as Myer Melbourne-all professionally produced by Tamiya! For more information go to my trade page!

This is a silly question! But who were your childhood friends? My best friends names in order were Joseph,Paul,Luke,Dennis,George as well as Theo. These were my Primary and High school best buddies! Personally I had a really happy chilhood mixed with things like Star Wars dolls, lima trains,Transformers, comic collecting, break dancing, cricket,Tamiya cars ect! Two of my friends(Paul,Luke) were fanatical about Tamiya cars and we developed really strong friendships talking about the old vintage cars-totaly obsessed with the Hornet,Frog,Hotshot,Boomerang! Luke and I,went to the point of stealing factory money from his millionare dad to buy r/c stuff. We got away with about $150 but wanted to increase our chances,so he went for $1000 but both of us were caught, and soon grounded for a period of six months!(13 and 11 at the time-all for Tamiya cars!-GREAT memory though!

Tivoli hifi brings back alot of memories! How's Dahl Murthy doing Willychang?I bought so many things from that store! The only thing that I regret buying was a Nad 510 cd player-great brand but awful Nad model!Audio Note!-extraordinary brand-low on watts, insanely priced!Have any of you listened to an "Ongaku"?Best amplifier in the world??$180000 for a 27 watt amp!!!Silly!
-
Are any of you into hifi or surround sound? What kind of systems do you have?I currently own a small system consisting of a a teac amp/cd player as well as two Yamaha monitors!Nothing special but o.k. sound quality-detailed,dynamic,warmish sound as well!I use to have two different systems-a Marantz signiture amp,Kef Coda speakers, pioneer cd player and monster cable throughout! The surround system consisted of a Onkyo integra amp(ac-3)(100(5)watts),laserdisc player, pioneer dvd player,Kef reference 100 centre channel as well as some B&W 604's(front) and B&w 601's for the rear!i use to be a typical home cinema junkie that constantly upgraded to better components(plenty of that!).I would like to get back into it,sometime, further in the future, maybe!!What are your components called? What's the sound like? Do any of you own really "audiophile" stuff(really hi-end!)
-
I have owned many Tamiya cars but most of them were from the first 60 models! It seems that the first sixty models were the most popular! What cars in your opinions, from sixty onwards, were popular or classics to the present day kits?Great sellers?Unique in any way?Any opinions on these kits?
-
Do any of you have an ulitimate dream car?Something fast and exotic that you daydream about?Personally I am obsessed with the Porsche 911 "996" twin turbo. This car outbeats Ferrari's in acceleration-0-100 in 4.2 seconds!WOW!A ferrari would be nice, going for long cruises at nights, accelerating, hearing the roar of the engine! The fastest machine that I have ever been in is a fully worked Ford Gt351,we did 233kph for about a minutes time!Talk about a rush-scared ****less then asking my cus to do it again!

Thundershot greater than the Hotshot?
Supershot replied to BeetleMeister's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
How can you compare a thundershot with a Hotshot? Two totally different things! The Hotshot to me was the most outstanding car that was ever released by Tamiya!Totally revolutionary at the time!A real lEGEND!!!!The Thundershot was just a beefed up,ugly piece of ****,a car totally forgotten, only bought by people who were looking for a car recommended by a hobby store owner who had really bad taste or wanted to get rid of his personal favourite when it came to poor sales as well as really bad looks! If this car was a girl it would be Elizabeth Taylors *** on a really bad day while the hotshot would be more of a sharon Stone during her youth!!!!!If you have one, sell it at ebay and market it as a car that needs a warm owner that gives it attention and promises to take really good care of it for many years to come! -
Just saw a Sandscorcher go for less than $1100 on ebay!!!!!Really odd!It was an NIB that was a little better than most when it came to it's overall condition! There were only two bidders that made bids at the final moment! These cars usually go for $1700+!!!E-bay is sometimes unpredictable!Do you think there is a limited amount of bidders for different types of cars at these price levels?

I use to have two CE edition Rc10's.A graphite car as well as a team car with a grahite chassis!I must say that out of all the cars that I have owned nothing competes with the memory of all the fun I had with the first grahite car, just an outstanding car-simple in design, reliable, outstanding performance ect!I remember putting the CE edition beside my Tamiya Boomerang and thinking,"The Boomerang's just a big heap of plastic"! Ebay Australia recently sold one for under $100!
-
Any thoughts on the Kinwald Worlds car?!I think this was the last "real" rc10!Then Losi came along and made things difficult when it came to design as well as status! The rc10 use to be the worlds best when a question like "Whats the best car in the world?" use to come up.Now days it's answered like....Losi...Rc10...losi...rc10..umm,I think it's Losi!!
-
Hello! I just saw a NIB Tamiya Lamborghini Countach with a "buy it now" price of $2850.00 on ebay!!Is this the highest price NIB tamiya kit ever to be offered on ebay??The highest I'v ever seen previously was a Bruiser with a "Buy it now" price of $2400.00.The prices seem to be going higher and higher! These kits seem to be an investment these days as demand increases, mostly because people in their thirties want to relive their treasured childhoods!Do any other kits go for higher prices than this??

Get some Tamiya box art on webshots.com!!!!
Supershot replied to Supershot's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi! Another good idea is to classify each photo with it's name!Always start out with "Tamiya"!Example-"Tamiya Superchamp","Tamiya frog","Tamiya Hornet" ect!!This way it is stored under Tamiya as well as being specific when you search the [gallery].It will be really cool to have other peoples screensaver's(or yours),featuring all your favourite Tamiya cars!Give it a go! www.webshots.com/
