  1. Hello! I have been a member of Webshots for two years now!I have been downloading wallpaper as well as screensavers almost every day.I recently typed in "Tamiya" and got about 30+ photo's from the gallery! There are quiet a few Tamiya cars and a few boxes photographed! It's a totally free service, you can either download stuff or you can go to "Community" after you have joined and download your personal photo's!Wouldn't it be cool to see Frog's,Sandscorchers,Hotshot's ect all over!Love to see some box art!!!!!The gallery has over 12,000,000 photo's and most of these are from people who have a camera and want to share a moment to the world in their fun but ordinary lives!I think that most of you should take a pic and download it,then store the photo under "Tamiya"!Try doing this and tell all of Tamiya club about it! www.webshots.com/
  2. Hello! I was wondering how far modifications can go from the stock car?Do most Tamiya's have a line up of different mods you can improve your car with?Do other hop-up brands make items specifically for Tamiya?Do any of you make your own or have bought cars that were modified by their owners? How far can self mods go???
  3. Hi! I'm from Australia too!Back in 85-86 Tamiya r/c was,in my opinion,at it's peak in popularity. You couldn't beat cars like the Hornet,Grasshopper,Frog,Hotshot ect! The first car I ever bought back in 85 was "The Hotshot".Actually I knew so many people who owned these cars!Just an example-four friends with a Frog, three friend's with a Hornet, another friend with a Falcon, another with a Supershot as well as another with a Boomerang!A few other friends had Kyosho cars as well as an AYK Buffalo and a Bison F10! I think Tamiya should release more buggies as well as trucks that are unique in some way.The cars should have catchy names and should be marketed in a better way.The mountainer, topforce buggies,Wild Willy 2 as well as a few of thier monster trucks are a good example of this! Now days,it's all touring cars with the same chassis and bodies!
  4. I thought I knew most of the Tamiya cars produced but I missed one in the first one hundred! It's called the "Sonic Fighter"!This car is really odd,the looks are just awful...maybe likeble to some??The designers were probably on something! It's car number 58071.Please see it in the car section as Tamiya originally painted and displayed it.Not your average Tamiya car!Any thoughts on this car???Really weird!
  5. Are nib parts also collectable?Do any of you collect these for collection only? You should see Daryn1's homepage,he is living in nib parts wonderland!
  6. Hi! There are so many "New built" cars in Tamiya club! Are these from nib's or brand new parts? The new built section for each Tamiya car is quiet huge in the showroom.I think that if the parts were cheaper the logical choice would be to build a car from parts-Not a nib, which is more suited to collecting!
  7. I'm curious on how some of you build complete cars from e-bay parts?!Is there a plan?Does it take a long time?Is it expensive?Cheaper than an nib?
  8. I think all the cars you mentioned are above average, great for bashing around!Just today I was at the local newsagent and saw the mag-R/C Action,it has a review of the Associated truck, quiet a revolutionary product for a company like this! You will also be fully backed up with high quality spare parts!I have owned a gas car before and just want to say that they are super but need alot of attention compared to electric cars, the tiniest bit of abuse and going against the rules(even though you think you might not be)will shorten the cars life!Check out rc action as well as the official Team Assocciated site!Super cool car!
  9. I agree with you!I think that it beats all Tamiya cars that were released before it!Since joining Tamiya club,I never knew how popular the Sandscorcher,Rough rider and Ranger are in popularity, especially the ss which seems to be adored as well as being the club's most popular car by a long shot, next to the bruiser that is in second place!I always loved the Superchamp as a kid and it stood out while flipping through catalogues and magazines! You can pick up a nib for dirt cheap compared to the other three buggies which seem to be going for insane prices.I think the car looks like a real off road buggy with great looks as well, better performance than the other buggies also!I think that the frog, hornet tyres are ultra cool as well!
  10. Hello! I was wondering what the pre Roughrider Tamiya cars are like to drive? What is their performance like?Apart from the xr311 and the cheetah, most of these models were forgotten after the r/r,s/s,ranger ect..came out!More of a collectable than a runner these days!?Any opinions on these cars?
  11. I'm not really sure about the worst but if I had to pick the dagiest as well as ugliest looking car it will definately be the Fire Dragon!!!!!The Striker is a little daggy too!
  12. I was wondering how rare the first RC10's are these days to own?I saw a nib at Daryn's retro site but it was not the first model produced!I think these cars are really cool when it comes to looks as well as a perfect addition to a vintage collection! Are they still out there?Do any of you own the earliest model or come close? Are they available on ebay from time to time?Do they have a kit number?
  13. I bought one of these tapes a few months ago!I bought it from a Canadian seller that advertised it on ebay U.S.A.!I bought it for around $26.00us!Try e-bay!The video is extremely entertaining and exciting to look at,it features-hornets,frogs,favs,grasshoppers,superchamps,bruisers ect...over 30 cars almost! The most advanced car in the video is the hotshot,it is even seen with supershot tires, rims as well as a supershot wing! The Canadian seller, sells the videos quiet often, usually six at a time!Try typing in "Tamiya videos" on ebay!Try doing this for a week or two...be persistant..Good luck!
  14. I really love the older cars as well as some of the newer ones!I wouldn't say they are in exact order but here they are! (1)Supershot (2)Frog (3)Hotshot (4)Hornet/grasshopper (5)Superchamp (6)Egress (7)Topforce evo (8)Mountaineer (9)Monsterbeetle (10)Roughrider
  15. I was wondering where most of you run your cars?Personally,I don't drive anywhere really special-just up and down the street and occasionally on local lanes!Any special places or your personal favourite spots?!What inspired me to writre this was seeing a bruiser tackling all types of terrain in different gears!
  16. This is quiet impossible but do you ever think Tamiya might, one day,re-release some of the old buggies in exact form?A "2006" 30 year anniversary for example!Cars like the s/s,r/r,Ford Ranger,Superchamp ect!Do you think there is a market for this? Are there any cars that are appealing to you as new releases in this way?
  17. Hello! I was wondering if any of you think Tamiya should release some kind of car that is curretly lacking in the market?Personally I think another car like the topforce evo but more racing orientated would be really cool!Another mountaineer will be pretty cool too,but with a newer design!Any idea's?Small improvements that are lacking in current models?Old cars that should be re-released?A "frog 2" for example!!
  18. Hi! Have any of you raced Tamiya cars? This can be past or present! What kind of cars's?Are there any really vintage cars that were driven in the 80's?I remember seeing Boomerangs and frogs in a really old mag I have, but the popularity of these cars was really shortlived!
  19. This question might of been presented before but I was wondering what the main differences between the Rough rider,Sand scorcher,Ford f150 and the superchamp are???? What sparked my curiosity was e-bay prices!NIB's are going for insane prices, especially ss's($1700+)but Superchamps seem to be neglected, there is currently one at e-bay(NIB)that's really stable at around $450-it might reach $600-700 at the most! Why not just buy the kit and slap on a Sand scorcher body if your going to use it as a new built car or runner?????Can this be done?Personally I am really shocked with the popularity of the s/s,personally,I loved the Superchamp as a kid and thought it was the alternative "buggy like" car to the frog, hornet, hotshotect!I think "ONE" of the reasons the s/s is really addictive is because of all of the contagious hype from people,as well as r/c websites!
  20. Hi! I'm a little shocked that other cars were not mentioned!Extremely popular cars that were household names in the r/c world-the Hotshot,Hornet, frog(truly legendry!),the supershot! These cars were the cars that really popularised Tamiya r/c-I remember this time period as being filled with hobby stores that had tamiya's lined up in front desk shelves with little promo video's of all the cars shown with huge crowds gathering around-these cars were the best selling then as well as introducing some people to the earlier cars!Apart from the others in the list,I really like the topforce buggies as well as the mountaineer!I think the best looking Tamiya's are the bruiser and the monster beetle!I also think that the sand scorcher is great but overloved!!What about a 11-20 list?????
  21. Hi! I just went to the Brp racing homepage! You can even order directly from BRP!These 1/18's average 21 miles per hour!Plenty of spares online!Give it a go!Something better than most mini's!Sorry if the link is not exact!Try Towerhobbies for ordering if you want! http://www.brpracing.com/
  22. Hi! I had a flip through R/C car action and saw some micro's from BRP racing! The top speed is alot higher than Kyosho's and hpi's!!!21 miles per hour compared to an average 12milesph from the other cars!Have a look at Tower Hobbies!Just type in "Brp racing" and press "go"-they are the 1/18 kits!Might have a homepage if you click on the brp racing logo, then go to the web address!Check it out!
  23. Does anyone collect or run Tamiya Tamtech's?I once bought one but it was really shortlived! This was probably the original mini!Personally I didn't like the unstable performance of the wheels and tyres-they could never go in a straight line after I run the car on concrete! What are your opinions on Tamtechs? What are they like compared to the mini's today? Are they collectable?Quiet forgotten?!
  24. I was wondering if you can name most of the r/c car mags out there!Apart from Radio control car action! Also, the country they are published in!I'm sure there is more than a few!!!
  25. Can any of you provide me with the address as well as phone number of the Australian magazine-"Radio control cars for dirt and track"!I can't find this magazine in any newsagent!I hope it's from a current magazine!Your help is much appreciated!
