I thought they were quiet rare in Australia but huge in the states!According to the Losi site, only 2 places are listed as stocking them!I usually read US mags and they are huge there, more of a racing car than a buggy! Is "Radio Control cars for dirt and track" still around?I loved that mag,I bought the first issue(Cat on the cover) as well as suscribing two times and buying it on numerous occasions!I'd love to see Aust race results! How are RC10's doing in races?
-
I was wondering what most of you are planning to do in the future?Any special dreams or goals?New projects?Bigger collections?Adding to your nib's?Next 1-2 year plans?
-
Hi! All of the cars you have now are pretty similiar! Why not try something different!Like a clodbuster,Bullhead,Juggeraut or other monsters that are more advanced! These cars are not as fast as most but will give you a really good thrill!!You can take these cars almost any where and they take alot of abuse as well! They are really fun to build as well!Go to the car section on this site and have a look!Something different as well as so much fun!Good luck!

I'm 29!I'v been running Tamiya's since the age of 12 but first dreamt about them when I bought a Tamiya catalogue,10 years old!

Hi! Do any Australians own Losi cars?I have owned 3 Rc10's including a Gt,these are really commen! Why are Losi cars so rare in Aust? What are they like?Do any of you know people that race these in Aust?
-
No offence Darryn1! I never owned one of these cars but thought they were pretty cool!My references were Airborne magazine as well as local Hobby stores! It was always questions and answers over the phone at well respected Hobby stores!"What's your best car" kind of questions..the cat..mini mustang..rc10 ect!The same stores promoted the schumacher cat(1st model) as well as the rc10(obviously)when it reached this country!I remember seeing this car in MORE than a few race results-many first places!I don't know about reliability!!!!! I also had a friend,a die hard Kyosho guy,who hated Tamiya but liked this car!

New brand parts that fit vintage cars!!!
Supershot replied to Supershot's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
You can put tamiya stuff as well like above! -
Hi! I thought some of you might like to share some secrets of how some "new" as well "different brand parts" currently on the market, might fit or replace parts of old tamiya cars, they don't have to be direct replacements! Not a Tamiya example but,I use to have a rc10 with odd looking rims(not tamiya),that I bought from a local trading paper, and was totally shocked when a spare set of supershot tyres gave an exact fit! Are there any little secrets out there?

What are the average run times with 3000-3300 cells? Can you use most 4 channel radio's that are on the market these days? Can you use an ESC?
-
Hi! What do you for batteries?Do you use 7.2 volt's to replace the 6v 4000?Are 6v 4000's still available? Also does the bruiser motor take up alot of power?Run time?Speeds?
-
Hello! They certainly do exist!!They can be found and ordered from Tower Hobbies. They are usually in the old tamiya 8.4 volt bigwig style-a normal 7.2 volt battery with another cell at the end on it's side.Just go to yahoo and type in "Tower Hobbies"!They are usually really cheap and it's safe to order!Go to car and truck accessories, then to nicd batteries-keep on searching!!Good luck!

I recently ordered a Tamiya promo video featuring 30+ vintage cars.I skipped the bruiser and didn't pay attention to it but what caught my attention when looking at photos was how good these cars look, especially in mint form by the people who own them!!What are these cars like? What are they like to run? What makes them so appealing to paople who own them? I always skipped these cars as a kid due to the high prices and slower speeds!

Hi! I would say walking out the door of Hobby Place with my new Tamiya Hotshot!I spent all night and the rest of the next day building the car and then showing it off to all my friends!!I couldn't get to sleep or study at school for a week!It was back in 85,I was only 12 years of age! What an adventure!!!!!!!
-
Hi! A difficult decision! It would have to be between the Frog,Hotshot and the Supershot!Well,I guess the Supershot!Still haven't owned or even driven one, maybe one day!In performance levels,I would pick the Topforce evolution!
-
I always wanted a pb mini mustang! It had a two speed gear box and use to be the best of the best according to Australian magazines as well as some of the better Hobby stores!Great brand as well as a great car at the time!
-
Hi! I was wondering if any of you own the old Hirobo cars?I live in a street that was a street away from the Australian Hirobo distributer and always were welcomed to see his cars even though we were 12 years of age and really annoying!Hobby stores would usually trash these cars even though they stocked them!I really liked the cars as well as having a fascination with the great looking "Zerda" which I saw run from new built form!WOW!!!! They are super cheap on e-bay,kind of like Marui!Do any of you own nib's?Do you run these cars? What are they like?

Bush Devil..like a King Blackfoot or Mon Beetle?
Supershot replied to BeetleMeister's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi! No offence to the other guy's but I thought that the suspension was a little crappy! No oil filled shocks-really stiff!I saw it at a department store fully built and got a little excited, then I bought it at a hobby store soon after!A great looking "colorful" car!Huge tyres as well as a super low pinion!Check ebay out, their selling one in nib for for a super cheap price!Great car though for bashing around and on a budget!!! I think that the monster beetle is in a higher rank!!! -
Hi! I was wondering if Australian buyers on e-bay pay a sales tax when they purchase an expensive nib from the U.S.??I once ordered a rc10,novak speedo and a mod motor from Tower Hobbies and shockingly got taxed around 25% when I picked it up from p.o.(a store though!)!!!It was a $300+ purchase! As most Australians might know the Australian dollar is extremely low as well(Almost double to th u.s.)!Do other Australians know if there is a tax on e-bay,especially if they insure and register through the seller of the item???What amount is the tax?Any tips?Personal experiences?

Bush Devil..like a King Blackfoot or Mon Beetle?
Supershot replied to BeetleMeister's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi! I had a Bushdevil a long time ago!A good car but nothing special! It had a frog chassis as well as shocks that were not oil filled which was a little dissapointing after I bought it!The most annoying fault were the gears at the back that were easily stripped! One of those Tamiya cars that just came and went! The body was a little delicate to collisions as well!I really abused this car!Had great fun too!!!!!!! -
My worst Tamiya moment is definately trashing my Hotshot because I always wanted a Supershot! It was back in 85-86!I was really annoyed that my father would not buy me a hop-up suspension kit for my Hotshot let alone a Supershot so I got my anger out by hitting it on the pavement, trying my best to get alot of damage done! What a shame!!!!!!!

Hello! I was wondering what most of you guy's do for spares when something goes wrong with your vintage Tamiya runners?I'v owned almost ten of these cars and,as most of you might know there is always something wrong with most of these cars, once in awhile!! What do you do when some problem arises? I personally own two Tamiya's and just have a really run down spare car as well as buying trashy tyres while I'm waiting for e-bay to deliver my goods to Australia! Any thoughts on this???

A 'Real" Sand Scorcher Alternative!!!
Supershot replied to Supershot's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hello from Supershot! Thanks for agreeing BettleMeister! The monsterBeetele is just a great all round car as well as being one of the greatest looking Tamiya's ever built!Or perhaps the greatest ever when it comes to looks! I discovered it on e-bay and it brought back a distant memory of seeing it fully built in a Department store with people around it a little awed, completely forgetting the other 20+ Tamiya cars on display!I remember a very happy 40 year old business man with a huge smile on his face carrying one of these away!As well as talking to a high school friend a week later telling me if I saw the display and oddly enough the thing he noticed most was the Monster Beetle! People just love the Sandscorcher which by the way shares the same chassis as the R/R,Ford 150 as well as the Superchamp and all of these are so much cheaper than the S/S! I think it makes a great S/S alternative to someone who can't afford the S/S as well as loves those looks!Go to the reader rides and you will be suprised!!!!! -
All of you guys are raving on about the Sandscorcher but have you ever wondered if there might be something better if you took the nostalga out of it? I didn't think so until I saw the "Monster Beetle" recently on e-bay in nib form! This car really looks great!I'd say rivaling or beating the Sand Scorcher!I'v seen one of these cars in Myer Melbourne back in 1987 and they were the spectacle of all the built cars there-they looked great!(Huge in size too!) It's as easy as looking at the member rides at this site,TAKE YOUR TIME PLEASE!!!!!You will be really, really, really SUPRISED! All in all the Monster Beetle is great looking as well as being vintage as well as a perfect Sand Scorcher alternative! Please take a look!(Members rides a must)!Do any of you own one and agree????
