  1. Oh well, I hear the shirt is not 100% like the original anyway: The ink is not the same black, the material is not as material-ish, and the logo is spun 360 degrees on both the X and Y axis...... :) (NOTE: For those readers whose are about to git yer dander up, this is meant to be JUST A LIL' JOKE. Note the "LOL" emoticon. *******in' relax.) Chris

  2. Yep, when I made my sarky remark about the MB coming with a SS shell, it was meant in fun (I guess irony is a sophistry that's beyond your meager comprehension.) You chaps who had a hard time with it, I'll be straight: Even if I was serious, I'd rather be a 'whiner' than a self-righteous, crud-spewing, name-calling, mental defective that feels they must defend Tamiya's honour if I see a comment that is other than complimentary (Get the irony again? I kinda called you names!) If you look at the smilie I attached to the post header, it would tell you something, but you don't think, do ya? You react, much like lower life forms that still require gangliatic nerve clusters to maneouver their hindquarters. Who do you think you are to tell me not to voice my opinion, or anything else? I hope the guys who got it had a chuckle, that's all. Chris

  3. I'll get one, but am disappointed. As Live Steam Mad said, I know what I want and am not apologetic about it. All I can safely assume is the changes were NOT made to avoid irritating the collectors: If anyone seriously believes that Tamiya changed things to maintain collector prices on original Scorchers, you're overestimating your own importance in the scheme of things quite a bit, IMO. Who can argue that they'd LOVE to be able to buy original bodykits for cheap? That's why this is a bummer to so many. Chris

  4. Well, I'm glad you chaps are so superior to those of us who are a bit disappointed! (Applause.) It's my God-given right as a consumer to complain, and by crackey, that's just what I'll do! Don't get me wrong, I love customers like you that just accept whatever is put out without even making the smallest negative comment. But, do us a favour & try not to sound like our Mums whilst conveying your opinion: The 'disappointed' guys here are not attacking the character of your posts for being satisfied, reciprocating in kind would be civil. Chris

  5. If the info is correct on the non-clear rear lights, sticker license plate, weird mirrors and molded handles, on top of blitzer fender profile, no sunroof, and debatable nose cone, then will I buy one? Yeah. Is it a disappointment, and IMO, is Tamiya becoming a much less stellar company? You bet. How can you argue the fact, unless you're a blind Tamiya devotee? (Nothing personal Swarm.) Gotta hit that price point! All I know is I'd pay more for better. The lights, plate, mirrors & handles irritate me more than the fenders: Fine, I understand about the body mold perhaps not being feasible financialy. But the other stuff? El Cheapo. You chaps who love the new 'Scorcher', bully for you: But as this is the hardest-core group of Tamiyaphiles online, you bet there are gonna be malcontents like myself! The whole idea of wanting every extra detail is what makes Tamiya desirable. The 'It's pretty close, so that's fine' mentality is not for everyone, and the guys who demand the best are naturally gonna be found here, and be vocal about it. If I wanted a 'Close is Good' Scorcher or a runner, I'd put a Parma lexan body on my old Losi XX-CR (Shortened, of course.) So kindly allow us hard-nosed types to vent a bit, my inner child is hard to please, but without it I wouldn't be into R/C anyway......Chris

  6. Thanks for that Twinset, very clear! I hope at least the 'new' SS has clear rear lenses, separate door handles, etc. Let's not forget Tamiya is a modelling company, if they skimped on these details I'll have to say it is not the company it once was. I love 'em, but do not blindly swallow whatever they put out & grovel at their feet, imagining justifications for their decisions to cheap out & feeling bad that I expected better. All I know is I want Tamiya-quality product, and if they're gonna be too cheap to produce separate parts, then they're becoming.....Well, not the same company I fell in love with. Cripes, most of my New Brights have separate handles & clear lenses! Chris

  7. I told myself I wouldn't post until the 33rd page, so here's my take:

-Of all the possible re-re's that have attained true cult status, the highest one on the list NOT to take any liberties with bodywise would have to be the Scorcher. I hope Big T thinks the same way.

-Since a lot of you chaps say you don't mind small differences, you won't be disappointed either way: Therefore, if it's 100% original, Tamiya won't leave anyone out in the cold, so that makes the most sense to re-pro it as original in every way.

-As long as the shell has a different inner mark from the original, that's all the collectors would need: No need to change the shape.

-I could care less what guys who want to retire on their original think: IMO, if you collect these for their investment value 1st & the love of it 2nd, you're not my kind of chap anyway. Go cry to Mamma, I ain't listening.

-People love these things for how they look, not because they're stellar in the handling & speed department. Ergo, why risk messing with the look/stance/lines of the original? If the MB's & BB's bodies are so close, why aren't they as highly collectable?

I will be very disappointed if they are not as original, plain & simple. I'm tired of politics or licensing or trying to hit a price point interfering with my being able to buy quality product. What makes Tamiya so great is that they usually do NOT cut corners, if I wanna save $ I'll buy a Tyco. Years ago, Wild Turkey had a great ad that sums it up for me: "There are less expensive Bourbons. There are also smaller cars and thinner steaks." There ya go. Chris

  8. The Scorcher should be out in February or so I've heard, and I should have my shop set up by mid-January, so...? I do plan on some CNC'd goodies for this, as I've waited a LONG time for it to be available! I will see what's up once I have one in hand, but some ideas are things that have been done, but done better: Dummy motors/exhaust, suspension items, chassis parts, wheels, etc. Also a couple things I'm keeping to m'self for now....I'm very open to suggestions also! Cages, etc. sound like a good idea, but tubework isn't my strong point. I'm sure as the release gets closer we'll be hearing from a few chaps who plan parts, should be interesting! 9. Aha! Yes it is! (Clever guy.) However, it has substance and we all share a common interest. The MySpace/Facebook/Twitter scene is, to me, a vacuuous, narcissistic waste of time and resources aimed at folks with too much spare time and an overinflated sense of the entertainment value of their meager realities: Mostly young girls & bored housewives. I do not care to ingest the minutia of someone's every ramdom thought, I'm busy with real life (Remember, that's why they call it 'Virtual Reality- It's not real, nor virtuous.) Of course there is by fluke some small percentage of the content that has some value I'm sure, but I am not willing to jump into a sea of turds hoping to find a diamond. No offense to those who are into it: It's just not for me! Chris

  10. Me likey Clod! (Well, Bullhead actually.) Arguably still my fave out of 70+ R/C's. Put an ESP Clodzilla IV on it and it's just the coolest thing to look at! Even had some custom beadlocks I designed made for it before I was a machinist myself, did do my own anodizing then however. Have a Green set and a Black set, gotta get another one so I can use both sets. One good rollover will trash a lot of vintage chrome, gotta be careful! Even built a 2-in.-long Micro-Bull R/C to keep it company. Chris

  11. I'm a heavy smoker, so I keep all my rigs either behind glass or in a dedicated hobby room that I do not smoke in. It still wants to get on 'em a tiny bit, however. I'm moving and going through the collection, meticulously cleaning one at a time, and boxing them up: Sadly, most of them will not see the light of day again for about 3 years until we're in our 'final' home, where they'll be in a sealed room that has an air purifier in it so they'll all stay nice & purty. Cigs can kill me, that's fine, but hurt the colection?? NOOOOooooo!!! Chris

  12. Hmmm, the wheels are what I'm most curious about: I got a beater F-150 that I'm going to build into a Scorcher. I have the 8-spoke rears w/the Sandblaster 915's and an original Scorcher front wheel/tyre. I wish to CNC up some Scorcher wheels, and as I have the stock front, no worries: But I'm concerned if I model the rears off the 8-spokers, they won't be the same dimensions (Bead, offset) as a stock Scorcher rear. Is this clearer? I'm confusing m'self now! I'm trying to avaoid buying a set of Scorcher wheels I won't ultimately use just to use for measurements if the dimensions are the same as far as mounting the tyre, offset, etc. on what I have. If the only difference is the pattern/design, I'm good to go! See, clear as day! Chris
