  1. Hi,

The TEU-101BK should heat up before the heat ends, you need a better ESC. 22/69 - 24/69 is a good gear ratio. 66T spur is way too low. Since carpet is crazy high traction, tires without inserts will not perform good. Mostly will hook in the middle of the corner.

The 190E body is great but not race oriented, protoform's will be too wide, they are 190mm. You don't have much choice. Not many racers in the world can use a body in a race day without a crack. If you love the 190E, don't use it.

    Goodluck and have fun.

  2. Mike,

The Tamiya high torque servo saver is the best I have ever used because it simply provides solid steering feel. But if you crash all the time, high torque type is not your choice, go to KP (Kimbrough Products) ones.

Regarding your M-03, 50473 and 51000 are the same but only with different colors. Yes, they do not provide as much throw for M-03 and FF02. But to reinforce the stock servo saver, there are 2 options:

1.Use the largest reinforce ring from high torque servo savers.

2.Tie the servo saver around with a small nylon band.

The Futaba S9550 is a very good choice for steering and provides high speed and enough torque for M-03.

  3. Hi,

The Hummer and Light Armored Vehicle are not completely a TA01 chassis, they are much wider and longer in wheelbase. You have a wide selection for off road (WRC) bodies from Tamiya for TA01. You can also use 50476 - rally block tires. Notice that the Toyota Hilux Racer, Ford F-150 and Chevy S-10 bodies for TA01/02 chassis will not fit TA01.

  4. Ryck,

Under most conditions, 4WD electric cars work good with front one way and rear ball diff. Bevel gear diffs somehow don't work well in electric r/c cars. Go buy a TG10 ball diff, it is compatible with TB-01 on/off orad.

Tamiya gear diffs are not o-ring sealed and adding grease will stand for about 15 minutes. It will be changing hardness as time goes by. In other words, it leaks.

If your garden track has tarmac and rough sections, it is suggested to use a harder set up, don't let it bottom out. You can only get a compromise, no settings work great on both.

  5. Adam,

The electric r/c world is getting so complicated. I never raced for 6 years and it is hard to catch up with those brushless, lipos again.

I could tell you a bit here only, F201 is basicly a 4WD shaft driven chassis and you can use high torque motors. F103 is a direct drive 2WD pan chassis, very much lighter in weight and you should use high rpm motors. Nowadays the brushless technology offers you speed from 27T stock motor up to 7T modified ones. Novak, Trinity, LRP have some brushless stuff.

For battery packs, GP and Intellect offer some 4xxxmah NiMH cells and I guess about 4 times the capacity of what you had in the old days, Sanyo SCR cells. They are quite cheap now.

  6. Hi,

Are you sure it is 14mm rather than 17mm hex? I have never heard of bigger hex adaptors for touring car size 12mm hex adaptors. 1/8 nitro buggy hex adaptors are very different in shape and mounting way, you might not be able to do that easily.

An easier way is to use HPI 2.2" truck wheels, they have a few adaptors included.

  7. Hi,

The pack sounds like 1 or more cells go down a few minutes before the rest. Try to use a better charger that has cycle function. Charge it at 4amps and discharge at 10-15 amps for 3 times, give 30 minutes rest time between cycles. If it still acts like this, 1 or more cells could have extra low capacity or going to die soon.

Generally a 1400mah pack will give you less than 5 minutes of run time on a 4WD buggy but depends on what motor you are using.

  8. Hi,

The cages of ball bearings use these materials commonly:

    -bearing steel (harder)

    -stainless steel

Both of them won't get rusted easily.

The balls are usually in chrome steel and is the easiest part to get rusted. Yeah, rubber shields are kind of waterproof to the balls but not water tight. They are always better for off roaders.

     Regards

    Joaquim
