  1. hi there,as gazwilts has mentioned,it could be a screw that is either sticking through and jamming your diff or bevel gear.failing that it could be that the plastic of the front gearbox has been forced out by a slightly longer or wider screw so check that there are no "white" stretch marked areas inside the casings,as these could bind the gears like a brake when you tighten it all together. its kinda hard to describe what i mean but if you screw in the screws one at a time with the gears out you should be able to see if any of the swelling occurs. hope you find whats wrong soon!
  2. Ryanbored, its got half a two litre V6 in it does that count? Blakeatron. The BP refinery in Grangemouth are planning a strike....shouldnt cause a prob....but all of a sudden there is "panic buying" on fuel.no need but there you go. As a result some greedy petrol stations where/are charging 120.9p a litre! some stations have no unleaded, but magicly the premium/v power/optimax version had gone up 10p! And to think that the government want us to be green.....road tax as of 2010 will be less if you have low Co2 rating on your car...the lowest bands only have diesel cars in them....guess what fuel is the most exspensive?..diesel?! green-friendly or revenue generator? ........sorry for rant!
  3. Mymonsterbeetleisbroken, that's its,a Citrotn C1..im no tree hugger but the cost of owning a car is ridiculous today,so this is a good fun car that runs on the cheapest fuel....unleaded!
  4. Sorry for delay! Here's a shot of my car, taken tonight hence so dark! good luck!
  5. c_a_r_t_e_r,i get what you mean. Ive bought the 3 DVD's from Tamiya101.Moosey Mania,R/C Bandits and 19.I love how the Tamiya's are captured in a "1:1" sense.its like your driving along side them due to the low down camera work.If it was possible to drive them like that it would be awsome. But i guess it would be abit tricky tryin to run along side whilst crouching! Perhaps getting hold of one of these "spy cam" things and mounting it on the car would add fun to a run.
  6. i just had a read over this post. I too have a Frog gearbox running in a Blackfoot guise. I found you def need the 10 tooth long pinion, the motor mount/spacer thing.one thing i noticed but never acted on was the spur/counter gear and the diff gear are different on the monster types.I ran my Blackfoot with a Sport tuned and Wild Willy2 wheels an tyres and i noticed even with the lowest ratio Frog gears it seemed it could have been shorter for better acceleration. I had a worn old Blackfoot diff gear and it clearly had a different ratio when placed next to the Frog diff gear. Ive seen on Ebay that the gears are avail for sale, usually marked as Monster Beetle and they got a kinda grey(gray) tint instead of the cream colour of the Frog types.
  7. Wow! thanks for all in this post! My Dad got me RED threadlock from his work.im not ready to use it YET! i dont think i will as 94eg! mentions,it is for permanent applications! Man alive...bullet dodged! again a big thanks! Its amazing the stuff you learn when communities share info.well done!
  8. Talk of the devil..and he's sure to appear! just saw an advert for the Wii Fit on tv.i guess it is aimed more at fitness...oh well no Street Fighter Mega Capcom versus Mario and Sonic with guest star Crash Bandicoot Ultra Battle 5 only on Wii ,then.
  9. Hi 4wdmt,aint that the truth! I also find that the "hype" can sell me a model, but its more the the mental picture of me using said model in idealic dream conditions! so when the cruel reality of actualy using it at the school car park....the novelty rapidly wears off! I must add that i too find it abit of a wrench to sell any of my stuff.i always think its worth more than it is! well once i have made it with tlc then drooled over it etc (metaphoricaly)
  10. interesting point, taliesin. I guess when i was younger i had to "trade in"(and add cash!) my exsiting car if i wanted another one,so i would only do this after much consideration(and saving) Now with Ebay its easy to get impulse buys...too easy. I guess im at a junction were i cant get my head round all the bits and projects anymore, and they will end up on Ebay. This will leave me with 2 complete cars and some spares.I guess the "clutter" is getting me down and i know im not using my "core" cars enough due to the endless projects that burn at the back! I do get your point tho,i had a friend when i was younger and he would swap cars all the time,he lost money (the norm) on each transaction, but it didnt dishearten him.I guess he was simply keen to try as many as poss. I also think that its difficult to "settle" for a certain car type ,unless you got a track/club etc nearby. So todays idea of bashing a monster truck around a field, might turn into tomorrows touring car in a car park! I unfortunalty dont have any tracks or clubs that im aware of nearby so i am happy with scale cars for random runs in diff locations.
  11. That's it Fatboyslim! I reckon the "fitness" angle wil be its primary launch focus.(to capture the imagination of the female buyer etc) but once rolled out i think it will be back to the good ol fightin an shootin.watch as home insurance claims rise as kids and dads try to "dragon punch" and end up fallin into the tv!
  12. Good post!got the brain ticking... I suppose when i lost interest back in the late 80's it was due to cost and the fact i had invested all my gear to get a nitro and i was not prepared for the new requirements nitro needed. Here's the spooky bit tho.even tho once i got rid of my nitro,i kept my Tamiya Adspec transmitter.(I had got it as an Xmas pressie). So here was a guy who had a transmitter ....and nothing else. Fast forward bout 15 years of real cars, women(THE most exspensive hobby!)and general tom foolery,I saw an ad for the Nitro racer by DeAugustini and thought...I could get an R/C again! Now i reckon i would consider myself re-hooked but as you mention, who knows what the future holds.I dont see me ever having a collection so huge it would drain Tamiya's production resourceses as i even avoid buying NIP parts etc as i usually buy to use and cant bare the thought of eliminating rare items and packaging just so i can bust them open! I do however think that i would always have some kind of Tamiya even if it was purely a shelfer to remind me of all the cool model touches that they have.
  13. Prepare to be fit as a fiddle! My bro has a Wii and i can say it is REALLY good fun.My family all had a shot of the 10 pin bowling,it was hilarious!i could even "bowl" from the back door(whilst having a crafty fag!) One thing my bro did show me was the very good internet browser the Wii has.good for looking stuff up if you dont need to input much. The Nasa weather and news is really good too. The Wii has a "board" coming out soon that allows motion tracking for games like fitness and prob fighting games, whereby you stand on the board and move about to translate your actions on screen!
  14. Hi lonestar,as you say....its a gift....and a curse this Tamiya malarky! I guess we now must hang our heads in shame, and repeat after me... The first rule of Tamiyaclub is...you do not talk about tamiyaclub.... seriously tho,i guess that is why some parts ( Q-parts) are so rare and expensive.as these parts tend to be the elusive cherry on the top that stops soooo many projects from being complete, and gives rise to sooo many new projects to soften the blow of the unattainable ,unfinishable current project! As MadAx said, its very hard to break the viscious cycle!
