That's a good question... it happened during an RC hiatus, or maybe it caused an RC hiatus?

Here's a cheap esc/motor combo that I can recommend, I use a 55T version of this in my Hi-Lift and it's absolutely fine. This is a 13T example but there's are 17T and up options also. I mean for US$35 from a reputable brand that will be hard to beat. https://www.rcmart.com/yeah-racing-tritronic-1-10-waterproof-60a-esc-w-hackmoto-v2-13t-brushed-motor-combo-set-cb0812-00059976

I had a revelation... I haven't used eBay since 2017 because PayPal banned me for using my perfectly valid account and credit card in a different country (FFS) ๐ and, at the time, eBay only accepted PayPal or credit card (which was processed by PayPal) so I could never pay for anything. I don't know when they introduced Google Pay on eBay but it's there and I can use it! Yay, I can now buy RC stuff off eBay... it's not necessarily the cheapest but it's a vital source of parts if you're into the hobby. Then I proceeded to spend $200 on RC stuff... hmm... ๐ค perhaps it's not a good thing! ๐

That's what I suggested to my girlfriend. For one reason or another she wasn't impressed. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Mine... Never, ever, build an RC car using bushings, always use bearings. Learn about dry lubricants and use that to lube everything that requires lube and isn't sealed. It's an addiction, learn to accept that and you'll feel less guilty! ๐

Whilst I can't help with your batteries I can confirm I use a LiPo in my High-Lift, it's a hardcase with rounded corners though, the same profile as a standard NiMH stick pack. If you're not already aware, you'll need a LiPo alarm, preferably a cutoff, when using it with the MFU and I'm not sure if it's recommended to combine LiPo's with the MFU (I genuinely don't know so ignore me if you do!).

Yay, I wasn't expecting this for a few more days based on the tracking info... Box still in great condition, I hate it when they're damaged in transit... Look at all that metal goodness in blisters...

Perhaps for those looking to keep the 'stock' look but without the terrible off-colour wheels? 54681 & 54682

Holy cr*p, that's fascinating @alvinlwh, thanks for including so much detail. The whisky no doubt makes up for the inconvenience! ๐

Interesting, so if you can't easily 'import' lithium batteries you can't 'import' laptops, digital cameras, cell phones etc? Seems unnecessarily restrictive!

If I can be frank with you, I really think you should be considering 7 plus spares. Let's be reasonable here. ๐

All Apple products are made in China, there are very few complaints about their quality. Be careful, generalising about Chinese manufacturing is probably racist (even though it's still quite common). When companies outsource production they are not obliged to outsource quality control. China also has some of the most advanced manufacturing capabilities in the world. The question should be: should Tamiya permit poor quality products to be released under their brand (regardless of where they're made)? NB: I'm not Chinese, and I hate Apple products.

Well gears, much like screws, can be made poorly. Do not buy stuff like this from "ANY manufacturer", buy them from reliable manufacturers that have proven credibility. Or watch them eat your spur gears.

Yep, been into 1:1 since I was young. It helps that I have an M3 to haul out on the weekends.

I've always used Robinson Racing pinions, never had a problem.

#LockdownLife Yesterday I spend a lot of time spamming the F5 key on my laptop hoping that Tamiyaclub would come back online. Whilst waiting I unpacked more boxes and discovered more stuff, some of which hasn't seen the light of day for over two decades! ๐ฒ Some NIP stuff from the 90's... My OG custom Top Force Evolution + Beyond... build thread here. Generations apart...

That's a good looking setup @GeeWings and yes, @Sir Crashalot is correct, no regulator required, it's built into your ESC.

I'm sure we can work something, just keep in mind that it's mostly low value stuff. I'll take some pictures today and send you a PM.
