Hey, no it's actually a TA02 FRP chassis... had one lying around. So in effect this is a short wheelbase Blazing Star with various other hop ups. I simply used a TA02 hard prop shaft, added an extra hole for the new body mount position and relocated the aerial mount. Works quite well and is slightly lighter but you lose some lateral stability, hardly noticable except for in very high speed turns. Either way, that's part of the reason for the carbon chassis set above... An advantage of the TA02 FRP set is you can relocate the battery to change the weight distribution which is a must now that I've tried it.

After a great blast on a sunny winter weekend (pic) I was looking at my desperately dirty Blazing Star/Top Force/TA02 hybrid and thought... "I want some new parts" ... of course I didn't "need" any new parts but hey, what the heck? I think I've created a new project for myself having just purchased... 53037 – Hi Cap Damper Short Set (x2) 53100 – Top Force Carbon Graphite Chassis Set 49092 – Aluminium Servo Stays ????? – Carson TA01 Aluminium Prop Shaft (x2) 53044 – Dynatech 02H Motor - **US$10… ** 53052 – Armature for Dynatech 02H Motor **US$5… ** Plus an associated set of screw bags, mounts, press parts etc... assuming it starts to trickle down to New Zealand this week, I might be on for a busy weekend... haven't done that for a while...

I'd be supprised if it even left the line with that paperclip standard prop and a 11x2! A lot of truth in that... and upon reflection I would change my comment to TF Evo > DI for quick running... so TF Evo > DI > TF - my bad. But I'm also biased... and a better driver than my DI owner mate... lol (he won't agree of course!!).

How hot is "hot"? I've been running a Blazing Star (bashing) and a Top Force Evo (racing) with a 13x2 using the standard hard shaft in each and have never bent or twisted one, even with many flips... certainly using the plastic tub in the 'Star is not a good idea with a hot motor but with an FRP or carbon chassis set then you shouldn't have any problems... Oh, and I'd dispute the DI is better for fast running than the TF... far from it in my experience.

No worries at all mate, happy to help. Yes, I think it is the same rear wing as the Egress (and Astute), perhaps a little bigger? if there's any difference it's very subtle... standard wing pin positions so it fits on pretty much all buggies. The decals themselves are quite rare so well done on the find! I grab just about every vintage decal sheet I can find...

They're decals from the Tamiya 53055 "Racing Rear Wing Set A". Very rare and cool Hop Up for all Tamiya Buggies that I've tested, Manta Ray family (inc TF, TFEvo) Avante, Egress, Astute etc… They are out of production (but I have three or four NIB…) and are "Racing" because you can use your own number on them for racing so everybody has a unique car number. It's a two way adjustable polycarb wing with screw on endplates. They look cool, attached is the best pic I have, I have a pic of one made up and decal'd at home which I can post later. Using one on my TFEvo spec Blazing Star… showroom to follow - edit: no time soon because 15 Sterling is like a million dollars down here...

?? Which Universals fit a TA02 Rear End??
djmcnz replied to OCD's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi there, I have a set of four TA02 original Tamiya universals available if necessary. They're used but in sound working order, all pins still secure. I am likely to auction them shortly but might as well see if they're desired by anybody in this community first, this way I'll know they will go to a true fan. Given that I'm new here with no reputation I'd want to send high res photos and engage in suitable communication prior to any transaction taking place. I do have a small but sound e-trading reputation on eBay and my local auction site though. I'm in New Zealand so this may be a detraction for anybody far, far away. (Also have 2 x used FRP chassis sets, alu dampers, etc, etc). I got into buggies...
