  1. Ok, I'm sure that this topic has surfaced here many times, but I would like to get an updated opinion or two on what is the best paint to use on Tamiya hard bodies today, bodies such as my Mountaineer, and if there is any special painting methods out there that get the best results. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I'm looking for something that will be tough, shiny, and long lasting. I have decided to use gloss black paint on my Mountaineer. I bought this high quality spray paint called "Plasti-Kote Epoxy Paint" that looks pretty promising. Has anyone ever used this type of paint before? My only fear is that in the case that I goof up the paint job for whatever reason, I might not be able to remove the epoxy paint to repaint it. What do most of you out there use for paint and is there any special way that you apply it, a certain amount of time between coats or anything, or any other magical touch? Anyways, some solid opinions on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Thanks again, Gamester
  2. Hmm, very interesting. If mine starts slipping again I'll give that a try. Thanks for that suggestion RA1028. Where do you get one of the pressure bearings from, auto parts store or something? Thanks again, Gamester
  3. Cool, thanks for the tips. I'll keep her as lubed up as possible. I use a probuct called JB Chain Lube that seems to work pretty well for these vintage trucks, hasn't really leaked out much yet anyways. Thanks again, Gamester
  4. Hello again,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I was just wondering how often I should put lube in the 3-speed Bruiser/Mountaineer transmission. Also, is there any certain way that you can tell how much lube spray to put in, or is already in, other than just popping out the plugs and looking in there? Thanks. Thanks again, Gamester
  5. Ah I think that did it. I took the hubs apart and cleaned out the gunky stuff that was in there. I relubed them with some high quality JB Chain Lube and it worked like a charm. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thanks again Shodog, Gamester
  6. Cool, thanks Shodog. I'll try that first. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again, Gamester
  7. Hello Vintage Tamiya Enthusiasts,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I have recently acquired a very good shape Mountaineer. It is a great piece of machinery and is a blast to drive, by far the best RC vehicle I have ever owned. My only concern is that the front wheels do not fully engage when in first gear. When I have the transmission in first and accelerate the front output shaft on the transmission spins like it is supposed to and the front wheels try to go, but it looks like the front hubs are excessively slipping. I can see both nuts inside the front wheels spin when it is in first, but the wheel them selves do not spin. I know I have the right hubs where they are supposed to be because I read that part of the manual that tells you which hub goes where. Do these hubs wear out occasionally? If so, is there any better ones out there that don't wear out so easily? I’m not quite sure what is up here and I would greatly appreciate any help I could receive on this issue. Thanks you, Gamester
