  1. After many years of inactivity, outside of mini racing, I am selling up. It is time for others to enjoy the icons of our hobby. Please use them at least occasionally. All of these have given so much pleasure to me and to others around the tracks and hobby meets. See my showroom trade section for the adverts with lots of photos. None of these will ever be re released. These are the most difficult to find for sale by far. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=121457&id=16759 https://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=121456&id=16759
  2. I'd never seen it before. cool to see the real basis for it the body almost looks like lexan!
  3. Well this is an odd thread would anyone like trophies like these? ...well go out and have fun and practice and race !
  4. On of the guys who races in TC locally works inside nuke power plants, all over the world as a specialist for accidents and maintenance. He and his equipment really go INSIDE. He showed me some of his equipment and explained in detail. Rad is PHYSICAL, ie like sand or dust. It gets WASHED off his equipment before getting outside. So if you are worried, simply wash everything you receive before bringing it near your family/area of concern. Bin the box (who wants a soggy box? lol) and wash everything. Even motors run underwater so unless you are buying a radio or esc there is nothing you could not wash. I make no comment/judgement whether it's necessary, I'm just saying this is what you can do to mitigate your concern.
  5. Hey! That 5 minute lash up job you did in your shed doesn't count!
  6. I confused but maybe thrilled : The VW Scirocco is stated as TT and FF03 chassis but the above photo looks very similar to M-chassis wheels. I'd like it very much on the M05.
  7. WHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???? It suxs! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! i liked the orginal better Your opinion doesn't count. I like the Striker more passionately than YOU. WHATS IT WORTH????????
  8. I have seen the Varja in the flesh at the Euro Finals in Switzerland. It's actually ok and the wheels are not as big as they look in the photos. About King Cab size. It looks like a Traxxas on the surface/size and I can see the type of buyer they are likely to attract. New to Tamiya and drawn by the big soft sprung go anywhere truck thing. It looked quite reasonable body on. Body off it looks strange to me, knowing the original Avante. However if you don't know, I think it probably looks quite techy for your money. Still don't think it will take Traxxas type big jump abuse tho.
  9. yes, that would have been a good question too! Thanks for all the supportive replies.
  10. Thanks - I'd never heard of it before you mentioned it. It's good to know!
  11. Thank you djmcnz That's a very good offer and I appreciate it. It would mean I would have to change all the image link addresses tho, and I've already done that one and it was a pain. I've bitten the bullet and now paid for 1 year pro hosting on pb. Enjoy the photos. It was a cool trip and I recommend racing to everyone. It's fun!
  12. Well this was interesting: I received this email today: "Hi! I noticed your post about "THAT question". You have to be either unbelievably stupid or terribly cynical to write something like this. First of all, what you asked is "THAT question" to you and a few TC-members, not to the majority of Tamiya enthusiasts. Secondly, the person you asked, if you really tell the truth about who he is, would of course not answer the truth so specifically about such a question from a complete stranger. In other words, the figure he told you will deliberately be incorrect to protect Tamiya's interests. And you were impressed because he said; "Thank you for buying our products." What would that be to be impressed about. He's a salesman for God's sake, and just like any McDonalds employee, he will have a few empty but polite phrases ready for anyone who bothers him with stupid questions he possibly can't answer with the truth. Of course, you are meanwhile very well known at TC for your disgusting bragging, lies, bellybutton-watching and naivety, and a few people actually seem to believe you. For all others, you're an ridiculous empty shell. Colin" Sent from Colin Stevens I have his email address which ends with sth.co.uk, it looks like he sent me the email via TC but I am not sure how since the email says "THIS MESSAGE HAS NOT BEEN SENT FROM A KNOWN/LOGGED-IN MEMBER OF TamiyaClub."
  13. Many times here on TC we have discussed the question of how important is RC to Tamiya's overall business. The Head of export, oversight of Tamiya USA and one of the overall management team at Tamiya, was at the 2011 Tamiya Euro Finals in Switzerland. So I decided to ask him. In terms of importance to the business RC accounts for 45 - 50% of Tamiya. So there we have it. Much higher than we generally seem to have thought, here on TC. That's pretty big and gives some insight into perhaps why re-re's have come along. RC is not a niche at all. Its a main part of the business. It was pretty cool meeting him and talking to him. I mentioned Tamiyaclub! And you know what the last thing he said to me was? "Thank you for buying our products." I think that is pretty darn cool. Really really nice to hear a company, and one of its worldwide heads, say that to you. - and no, I didn't ask about manuals.
  14. Depends on your definition of cheap. All of the racers who discussed the cells with me thought they were not worth the price at all and viewed them as throw aways after the race. F1 and GT had Gens Ace lipo's as control cells, and these are the total opposite - outstanding value for money cells. Yes, control tires all around. Thankfully they were preglued. I spent many hours in the last 2 days editing all the posts for links to a new photo album but less than 48hrs later there have been 49,000 views of the photos somehow :o and now that account is frozen too! So I am going to have to pay for the account to go to pro for a year. Has anyone paid photobucket before? I am trying to see what payment method they take but can't find it anywhere. I can't believe how many photo views there have been. Combined with the 4 day race period that's over 70,000 combined views
  15. Thanks Bkj Yes, few diffs here. Now about these bad boys These are the batteries TT Stock, F.Buggy, M-chassis and Gentlemen have to use, and had to buy here. There has been alot of general unhappiness about these cells (hey, I guess there had to be something ppl would not like!). Why? - because everyone has lipos - ppl would prefer to spend their money on lipo cells if they HAVE to spend their money on new batteries - the cells SEEM old to many and some gave such low voltage and racers complained/tried to swap Since voltage testing is common in many races it's interesting that this was not done instead here and lipos for all. The organisers said the cells just needed to be cycled. And the cells are cheaper than lipos (F1 and GT class) hence fits the lower cost image of the TT, mini, buggy, GM.
  16. Well that was not too useful. There is a fault with timing since the last qual last night and the live timing has been turned off as they dont understand the problem and don't want to risk affecting the back up system today. I will post up positions on the thread in rctech, have a look there if you are interested in the times. More photos and news snippets to come.
  17. Race timings can be found here: http://www.myrcm.ch/main?dId[E]=6774 I would have posted that up earlier if I had been told about it!
  18. It's SUNDAY MORNING! RACE DAY!!!:nod::batman: The drivers party was last night, and Team GB and Team HU, stayed until lights out at a very late ...9:45pm Not quite a wild offroad type party , but enjoyable and the prizes for best body shell were awarded (more info later). Some random shots to start the FINAL DAY of TAMIYA EURO FINALS 2011! Lady driver! Onsite shop Basel! Pilota Italia!!! Hungarian Pilot! F1 Tire set up style
  19. Quali is almost over now. I will post up the results. It's cool having an audience here, there are plenty of collective gasps when cars tangle and big OOOHHHHs! when they occasionally fly right out of the track and BANG! into the stadium grandstand wall.
  20. Team GB, really smooth and up there in the top 5. Lovely tail sliding on the fast in, fast out corners  The RX7s look REALLY good!
  21. loooool, they want to be famous on TC and rctech missing a few updates on here that are on rctech, laptop problems. but now: Finally racing photos!
  22. Some more. See anyone you know? See the F1 and GT times vs M-chassis GT F1 12 second laps!! :spidey::spidey::batman: Gentlemen M-chassis Stock
  23. Welcome back! It's Saturday morning and, for the first time since arriving, raining outside. So Tamiya Switzerland are very happy they decided to make this an indoor Championship  Everyone was here by 8.15 after the drivers briefing it's immediately down to business, Q3 has now started. I was hoping to meet the girl with the smooth voice today who makes the race position and start countdown announcements, but she turns out to be a computer ! The Russians are friendly. I should stop reading so many spy novels! Team GB! still using sticks! What's he photographing? THE STIG!!! OMG! Team GB are going to win everything now! I will upload racer photos and other things today. Am looking for on track photos from others with decent cameras, my borrowed camera is not taking good on track shots. I wish I was racing, its a nice big track. I shouldn't have raced open category this year vs HPIs! The open class was running mod rules so was not included as a Euro Cup quali.
  24. I am adding a bit more/diff here rctech linky. I'll answer your batt q tomo, Willy. The hall is closing and I only get net here. Swiss hotel internet is waaay costly... !
