  1. Hi, Def won't be able to do 11th as same day as Worksop Radio Car Club race meeting, and it'll hopefully be my first run with an Associated B4! Don't let it stop you guys though. Trev PS. The hopped up Dark Impact may be going up for sale soonish (after a rebuild), so I would like to give it a last run out with everyone sometime before it goes. Any potential takers?
  2. It ABS, it'll stick [] If only it were the same for Dark Impact A Parts (gearbox case)! Trev
  3. Morning! What's this about teaching me everything I know? Did any of you actually have any cars 25 years ago? How many of you were born 25 years ago! lol [] I was going to come but now have a lack of cars as the Gator is in bits and the DI now only has 2 wheels after "professional" racing [] BTW the DI is not good enough to come anywhere near the Losi or TTechs of the world, so re-evaluating off road racing. You all ought to try 12th scale one day. Scared myself s**tless the first time I opened the throttle, and that was only with a 19 turn in it [] I'll see if I can get the chance to pop over and say hello to all, but a bit busy so no promises. Trev
  4. Avoid 7th January if you can. That is the date of the first Worksop Radio Car Club meeting and I'm going to that. While I'm mentioning that, if anyone's interested details are on the Short Circuit Models website. Trev PS Merry Xmas to all the Clumber crew!
  5. Sorry, don't think I'm going to be able to make it this time, though things may yet change. Hopefully see you all in the new year. Trev
  6. We normally meet at the cafe at around 11:00am and then make our way down to the bbq area about 11:20. Some people meet us there if they are late. Trev
  7. Did you leave them fully discharged? IB4200s don't tend to like that at all. Best to leave at least 300mah in them for storage. Wouldn't explain the Tamiya one though. Trev
  8. Amazingly enough, all I did was give the car a bit of a wipe down and its fine. Not undone a single screw! It was even reasonably clean. OK, the front shock tower isn't straight but thats hardly the first time. Next time you all see it, it'll probably have carbon towers buts thats about the only change, unless the brushless setup has moved into my possible 12th scale racing setup, but thats another story. Trev
  9. Thanks for that. Seems I was right after all! I don't just wish that the UK (Europe) and the USA will switch to standard measurements, but that Tamiya not keep changing theirs also! Some people have adapted their DI to take 48dp gears so they have more choice of spur. I think there's a picture of one on Bender's website. Trev
  10. Aw! You edited your post! There really isn't much space for motor adjustment in a DI. Thats why I was wondering what the smallest possible pinion was. I think 21t is the smallest with the 82t spur from trying things out. Wonder what the smallest is with an 85t spur? Trev
  11. I wish shops would describe things properly! Looking at it they are as you say. Thanks for the info. A possible purchase, though I think the lower tooth ones are a little too small to put on a Dark Impact. If someone buys them please give them a quick review. It would be good to know the smallest size that will fit. Trev
  12. Elliott, Those you link to are not the same size, but close. Well they say 48P in the description but they also say metric. I thought 48P was imperial! I may be wrong though. They might work, but strictly they won't be perfect. Hard to know exactly how well they would work without trying them myself. DCM71, do you know of anyone else that makes 0.5 pitch pinions? To be honest, I've found the Tamiya steel ones fine though, and both the DI and Super Astute ones are steel. Trev
  13. I agree with neo. Its got to be greasy stuff. I did the same as above, then used cheap cyano (superglue) from the local store and they are totally solid with an LRP brushless setup. Just don't glue your hands to the tyres like I nearly did []. Trev
  14. And one of my front outdrives yesterday at Clumber! Not too damaged to use so far though. All 3Racing stuff I've got so far has been good so I'll probably try theirs too when I need to replace. Trev
  15. Great day out! Good to see faces old and new turn up. Not sure if I can make another meet this year. I'm usually very busy at the end of the year but if someone sets a date I'll see nearer the time. Trev
  16. See you there! Trev
  17. Brushless is an electric motor that doesn't use brushes! Need a compatible ESC as this actually senses the position of the armature of the motor and switches the electricity supply appropriately. End up with the power of a top modified motor without all the maintenance hassle. If you really want to know more see somewhere like here . I'll show you Sunday. Trev
  18. I have the feeling my charger may be permanently in use due to my brushless setup eating batteries! Trev
  19. OK then, how about a roll call of people who are going to Clumber on Sunday. I'll start.......me! Trev
  20. Well, Devilsome suggested Sun 12th Nov, but Steviedee can't make that day (or most Sundays), so the date is up for negotiation. Sundays do seem to be the best day for most people though. I'm fine for the 12th mind. Could do with better numbers than last time if poss, just me and Devilsome for most of last time with Shaggy at the end, can't be outdone by the likes of the Reading or Kent mobs! (Nothing like a bit of friendly rivalry!) Trev
  21. Steviedee, Are there any dates you can get? Maybe we can work around it. Anyone else up for another meet? Trev
  22. Definitely going to get those when I have a bit of spare cash, to go with the shocks. Just blown everything on an LRP/Reedy brushless system! (Will be in the showroom in detail soon.) Have you managed to find any A parts yet? Trev
  23. Think I'll join the National Trust just to get my own back! Trev
  24. Saw some A-parts not long ago from one of the usual ebayers, but seem to have gone now. Just keep checking the usual shops (jr-rc, dinball, vellrip, rl0725 etc.) and I'm sure you'll pick some up soon. Better still, ask them. May be quicker. Trev (The other Dark Impact flag waver!)
  25. Like I said they work well, especially for the price! For all others who haven't found the pictures to go with my review they are in my showroom at http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...9&sid=17039 Trev
