  1. Suppose your right

I think with the flatbed being off scale I had got the idea in my head that the box trailer was out too but just had a look at the Wedico trailers and the scale size works out at almost the same so I maybe leave that idea.

I was planning on stripping the box, replacing the sides and roof with flat alloy sheet of even just thick ABS and giving it euro style side skirts to give it a nice clean look B)

  2. Tamiya big rig trailer length?????

Ok so I’m going to start a major rebuild of some of my Rig’s but I’m wondering what length the trailer should be?

    I believe the full-size 1/1 Most [uK] trailers are 45 ft = 13.716 m so a coupled tractor unit and trailer will have a combined length between 50 ft = 15.24 m > 55 ft = 16.764 m

Anyone know if this is the same for the [uS]

So since the Tamiya one is 1/14 that should make the Box trailer 38” = 97cm which is about 4” longer than it currently is

So is it worth adding a bit more to or is it just a waste of time and effort or will it hardly be noticeable?

    Thanks

    In advance

    Jay

  3. Not sure as to a fair price as there in a strange bracket most people think of them as Nikko toys so it would be up to you.

I would say though if you are selling let me know what you want for it as I have a Dandy Dash and a rare Nitro Nikko Mercedes that could do with a friend to keep them company :-)

    Thanks

  4. I have only been a TC member for just over a year but have been into model for over 20 years. I feel that the E-bay has opened everyone’s eyes to the collector scene.

In years past I picked up loads of 2nd hand stuff from small ads and car boot sales I even got a Full monster beetle for 3 once. If you look through the ads now people expect almost new prices and will get them at times so it just an evolution of the market place.

One thing that puzzles me is I tend to buy build and run a small amount I don’t normally trash them with the exception of my competition entry :-) but so many collectors now buy 2 or more new releases one to play the rest to stay boxed.... So in 20 or 30 years time there will be loads of NIB old models and their value just won’t be there or am I being cynical

Key thing for me is I enjoy them, I don’t do it for the money....yet

  5. Ok just picked up a Twin Detonator from local small ad last night and it’s a good clean car but still uses a manual speed control so I’m going to give it a rebuild with full bearing set and I’m looking for a cheap ESC spotted a few TEU-103BK on e-bay.

Has anyone tried this? Is it any good or is there better sped controls for the same sort of money?

    Thanks

  6. If you're in the UK the 2 cheapest I know of are both on Ebay.

    Darkslide Bearings, seller name rc-bearing-s

Time Tunnel / Goldstarstockists (under an assumed name), seller name bear-ring

I'm sure both sellers would be happy to have your trade in those quantities.

IME they both give excellent service & communication.

Darkslide are slightly cheaper but their bearings are unbranded (they say UK supplied), TT's are Elbriest.

No connection with either seller other than a happy customer B)

Looks like I'll go with one of them as in the UK shipping from US and Japan can be so so

    Thanks

    for all the help :-)

  7. Ok so I’m going to be giving my collection a makeover and on the rebuild I’m going to get full bearing sets for them

Now I’m going to be doing My F350 High lift, Ford Aeromax truck, Knight hauler and me Mercedes 1838ls

No I know the High lift has about 40 bearings in it and the trucks and about 30 each so all in that’s about 130 bearings anyone know a cheap place for bulk order?

    Any help appreciated

    Jay

  8. Just had a look at the Nikko Cleo
and it looks like same chassis and setup (At least someone else bought one )

I had a look up the loft last
night at my Mercedes and it’s not bad seems to be caked in fuel as the tank has
split and because it was a runner I doubt the bearings will be much cop, I ‘m
going to dig out the box as I remember there should be a parts list in it and
hopefully Nikko might have some sort of spares

If not I’m sure another tank can
be found and the bearing shouldn’t be an issue ( I’ll try and get some pic’s in
the next week or so )

  9. I think Nikko would make a good Sig or group

I’m kind of biased as I used to be
    part of an approved Nikko
repair dealer in the mid 90’s and as such saw very little work as they just don’t
    break.

I still have a full Dandy Dash (Runner)
complete with Nikko radio and box, I even have the holy grail Nitro Nikko
Mercedes (With built in starter and reverse
gear Not fast by Nitro terms but cool car starts from controller) but this needs a little work as it’s a mess of sticky glow fuel at the
    moment

So I would be thumbs up for Nikko

  10. Thanks for the scan

Printed it out and I’m now waiting
on the paint drying for my colour matched gate

5 minuets work and a piece or
scrap 1.5mm plastic card from a model boat total cost  = nothing

Might not be everyone’s cup of tea
but beats waiting for the post and this might be the true Scotsman coming out
but I would rather save the £8 and put it towards a MFU[:)]

  11. Hi all

Anyone got a good scan of the gate
needed for a Futaba 4ex radio so I can get the gear control working correctly
as it’s almost imposable to get a smooth operation by hand.

I know I can get a carbon gate
from stella but I feel it’s a bit expansive and I’m fairly sure with a good
scan that I could make one from mild aluminium or stiff plastic

    Thanks
