EDITED I NEED LESS DIMENSIONS NOW: Hi guys, I haven't been on in a while and was wondering if anyone could help me with the SRB chassis dimensions. So far I only have a front end and the majority of a rear end (just missing a tranny case) but no chassis. I do however have a 3mm thick sheet of alloy and a drill. So, could someone please measure the length of their chassis and also the width at the front please? Also if you can tell me the distance the front servo saver mount is from the front of the chassis as a bonus that would be great Please let me know if you can help. Cheers Ed

Hi, Since the new forum I haven't been on much and now don't know how to post pictures. Thanks mate, I see the problem is you can't post things from other peoples showrooms. This seems strange to me as the pics are already in the public domain and you could do this on the old forum. It'll make it very difficult to talk about rare models when there is only one example on the site though (like in this case). How strange!

They mention the Kyosho rear? That might have been my deliberate mistake to check you'd read them, or more likely I could have just forgotten as I haven't read them in a at least a year and am getting old Can you post this article you keep mentioning please? :-)

Hi, Great question! I believe, but I could be wrong (please correct me), that the Taipan was a car put out by an importer in your country called Pitstop. Pitstop was the importer for a number of vintage hop-up manufacturers from this period, Thorp, RCH, MIP, CRP (I think), etc.... The main offroad racer at this time was the Tamiya SRB, many racers would buy the stock Tamiya kit and then over time would ditch all the stock parts for hop-ups in an attempt to make the car perform better. This generally left only the Tamiya SRB transmission case from the original kit (which was generally cut down until it was unrecognisable anyway). Pitstop decided to bring out a race version of the SRB which showcased a lot of the hop-ups they imported (see link to Jim123's showroom). This car they called the Taipan and it was distinguished from other SRB's with the amount of hop-ups it had and also the tranny cases were highly polished and engraved with the moniker Taipan.
