Tamiya FAV re-release announced!(unsure)
hardb8 replied to TamiyaDan's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Yeah mate PUMPED about this one. I was lucky enough to be right into Tamiya cars in the "Golden Era", and coincidently, I've bought most of the re re's that have come out. Not sure exactly with what model it's claimed the golden era ended, but for me the real "Tamiya magic" started with the Rough Rider, and ended with the Fox. I was still buying after though, and went on to buy and run an Astute, Super Astute, and the first run of the Dyna Storms. There are a few re re's that get me more excited than others though, and obviously the F.A.V. is one of them. Can't wait for a date to be announced, and more pics. Quote skywhelp:- My tribute to this re-re is now in my showroom, the "Slow Attack Vehicle" hardb8 you should get a kit out of it, hoorah biggrin.gif. Try ( www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=108134&id=34870 ) I hope it works I'm still in the 10 print"skywhelp" 20 goto 10 days Oh that's how I do it, watch out forum cool.gif Link works Nice modeling mate, very nice indeed. If you have shortened that body, you've done an outstanding job, I can't tell. And the paint work is cool too, driver looks great. Congrats. The scenery is wicked, the shrubs look like scale trees in some shots. And to top it off very nice work on the camera. I reckon leave it with no windows, or put in some broken ones. The zombies would have surely at least cracked them buy now. Cheers. B8. -
Tamiya FAV re-release announced!(unsure)
hardb8 replied to TamiyaDan's topic in Re-Release Discussions
STOKED! I was very excited when they announced the re re of the Rough Rider, which turned out to be the "Buggy Champ" . For me personally, This baby ranks right up there... maybe even better. This is another I always really wanted as a child, but never got to build. Who didn't love to play Army in the back yard as a kid? If as you grew, you progressed into R/C like me, the F.A.V. was absolutely drooled over. Sounds like it will be a pretty true re re, maybe closer than any we have seen so far, as decal issues will not be present. I have been busy with the prep already. Just got an Iwata brush, all the manual colours, and a heap of other hues, hoping to do a real nice desert theater camo job. Also dug up some very detailed scale weapons. An M16, a Colt 45 , some grenades, and other goodies, "TOP SECRET" I hope I can add these to look as if Mr T has put them there. Also got put aside a new Endurance Black motor "Blue endbell" a Thorp balldiff, and a set of the unis brought out for the re re Frog that should slot in nicely. Think in a box here somewhere theres a few new pairs of Blaster Jr's too. When my interest was rekindled in Tamiya cars some years back, I found this site by googleing "Tamiya". Along with it, lots of helpful people, and lots of great reading. The first car I bought to get back in??? Thanks to a member in Canada if my memory serves me correctly... The Fast Attack Vehicle. Still got her here NIB. If anyone inside that big factory with the two stars on it in Shizuoka is reading this... Thanks heaps to you all. Especially you Tamiya san. Keep em comin, and bring on the F.A.V. I'll definantly be buying 2. I think that somewhere inside us all there is still that little soldier... OOHRAH YO LEFT, YO LEFT, YO LEFT RIGHT LEFT! -
Hi, I'm after a new in box Super Champ...I'm not interested in wasting both parties time,Sending offers to you all. If you have one you want to sell...Let me know what YOU want for it via P.M....This will be a much easier way for me to buy. Regards. Rick.

Stumbled across these today. They appear to be genuine Tamiya spares to my untrained eye.Scorcher shells and wheels sets in both chrome and gold. I seen there were Rough Rider wheels available also.I only seen the RR wheels in gold though.I didn't come across any shells for the RR,In either chrome or gold. I'm just looking for more info from someone who might know more,And be able to confirm that they are genuine,And will be available soon. Cheers. Rick.

I've read the entire 51 pages posted,And first up I'd just like to say a big THANK YOU to all involved at TAMIYA for making the re re of the Scorcher a reality. I see that some are disappointed with the new shell...Keep in mind Tamiya have never said they were doing replicas of any of their previous re re kits,And the shell on this re re is no surprise to me...I too would have prefered an exact replica of the original SS.But I'm still stoked...FULLY STOKED! I'm gettin two. On the upside,As mentioned previously...The original SS will still hold it's classic title,And will remain :- THE HOLY GRAIL... It's better this way,As it still remains that SPECIAL ride,That we all love. I reckon this kit,The Scorcher re re,Will break records,And be TAMIYAS' biggest selling R/C kit of all time. Bring on the Ranger and the Super Champ. Regards... P.S. Thanks again TAMIYA for the new ball diff...YOU GUYS ROCK!

58441 Rough Rider "Buggy Champ" Re-release
hardb8 replied to blackdogbro's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Hi all, I'm only a relatively new member here,And I pop in here and there.I have read lots of great threads here at TC that contain lots of great tips,And I've seen some extrodinary skills displayed by members with regards to modifying and restoring older rides,Not to mention some exceptional painting skills. But the news of the RR (Buggy Champ) being re re'd is by far the most exciting thing I've read here so far. As I kid (1980's) I could not afford all the cars I wanted. As I'm sure many here can relate. And one I always wanted was the RR.I'm STOKED this has happened. And I will definantly be grabbin two.Now I'm sorta grown up, LOL, And now have my own $$$.And for TAMIYA to make this possible is simply awsome. The other re re's have also been a blessing,I got me a Frog,Hornet,Grasshoper ( My 1st car ),Brat,And a Lunchbox so far from the re re's. Also snapped up a NIB FAV and a NIB Scorcher from the old school. All these rides are cars I wanted as a kid,But never had my own money to buy.I'm not a collector,Just a long time R/C TAMIYA fan. Next on my wish list,Re re'd or the original..........The Super Champ...........BRING It Mr TAMIYA. Cheers. Can't wait. -

Hi Paul, I got one....Not sure exactly what it's worth though? It is complete as you would have found it in the LHS nearly 30 years ago.The only addition is 30 years worth of dust on the box. It has been sending me strong vibes to build it lately,But I've held off.......It's a special ride...... Make me an offer.

Hi all, I have a complete brand new in box Sand Scorcher. I was wondering if you think it's a fair ask to trade it for :- A new in box Rough Rider & A new in box Super Champ? Is my Scorcher worth these two buggys? Or do you think I'm asking too much? Looking foward to hearing your thoughts. Regards. Rick.

A matter of fate.....Receiving the holy grail.

Sorry guys,I didn't think I could post pics because I'm not a paying member of T.C.But I've just found out I can.But I don't know how.[*-)] I still haven't cleaned the box up yet.I can send a couple of pics of the NIB,And of the chassis I've nearly finished for my runner,Mentioned in the original post via email to someone,If they would like to post em for me?.It still has all my markout lines on it and has to be cleaned and polished yet,But in a recent mock up,My chassis fit perfectly. I'm gonna try and find info on posting pics. -

Hi guys, I just have to tell someone who understands [] I've had Tamiya cars scince I was five,I'm now 31.My first was a Grasshopper. And being my first the body was soon cracked as I was learning to drive. While browsing the local hobby shop,A Scorcher body was seen,And I whinged till Mum bought it for me.It was custom mounted and sat with pride on the old Hopper for years to come. I was always on the look out for a complete original Scorcher,But they were rare. When I was 13,One day a friend of a friend seen my Bettle shell on my Grasshopper. He told me his neighbour had one just like it.Surley not a Sand Scorcher,I thought.I gave him my number and asked him to find out if his neighbour would sell it.About three months later I got a call.It was him saying he had an old Tamiya buggy I could have for $80 if I was intrested. When I arrived it was an original.I handed over the cash,And couldn't get her home fast enough.A bit beat up but all there. It has sat in my cupboard until about a year ago,When it was dug out after googling Sand Scorcher,And finding this site and Tamiya101.It rekindled my passion,And I've been trawling ebay for bits,And fabricating a custom chassis. In the years between,At around 18 years of age I was into 1/10th scale 1/4 mile drag racing. The bloke who ran the drags also sold imported chassis'.I went to his home and walked into his office/shed to check out what chassis were available.I seen on the top shelf,The box of the Sand Scorcher,And I immediatly inquired."Sorry mate not for sale." he replied,"But I'll get her down so ya can have a look at it" It was a minter untouched scince it was purchased.I did walk out of there with a car,But not the one I would have really liked.(The SRB) The other day after seeing the US $5000+ sale on the bay it got me thinkin....I wonder if he's still got it?So I looked him up in the phone book and gave him a ring."Yeah mate I've still got it,What ya offerin?" He said.I thought I'd start at $1000.And he said yes straight away. Not sure how high I was prepaired to go?.He went on to say if I called three months ago,He wouldn't have sold it.Or three months later,He wouldn't have sold it."Ya got me at just the right time"He said...(In a time frame of 13 years)...I managed to make the phone call at exactly the right time...(A matter of fate)...She was destined to be mine. I went out to pick it up hoping she would be in near the same condition as when I last seen her.It is still in almost perfect condition.Everthing is there.Blisters intact. No parts bags opened,Decals,Instructions the lot,As it was when purchased all those years ago.[]The box is perfectly flat but has two small marks on the front edge,And 25 years worth of dust on the top.I cleaned a very small section of the box in a test,And the dust came off without any damage to the box.I still can't believe it's here at my home. And I now understand why some choose not to build these special cars.It will sit in the box till I'm old and grey. Then MAYBE I'll put it together...(This is a classic piece of Tamiya history)...I have a very clean runner almost finished now,To take the edge off. Dreams do come through.A mint new in box Sand Scorcher for 1000 Australian dollars.(Grey bumper model) I've also been dreaming of a Super Champ.I wonder if this one will come through? Sorry about the lenght.I just had to tell my story.Wish I could post ya's pics. Cheers Rick.[][][]
