  5. Hi Friends, long time no speak. I acquired this as part of a trade. Looks new built to me. Some minor shelf wear on the chassis. Will supply new front tires, too, possibly not originals though. Only issue that I can see is the yellow bottom front shock ends, and the paint which is flaking on the body - which is a good thing as it peels very easily, hence stripping it and doing a new paint job should be rather straightforward. 120GBP/ 140EUR / 160CHF, shipped from switzerland paid by wire or paypal friends + shipping costs (about 25GBP to western world, could be less and I will refund, more and I bite the bullet). Open to offers. I haven't posted here for ages, but I have many references, most of them on rc10talk. Best, Paul Sold - thanks all and thanks TC. Glad to see the flame is still alive Paul

  8. Hi all a lot of cleaning happening in my shed atm to clear out some space. Will update regularly. Marui Hunters

Hi all I picked up a RTR Hunter in the US last year... the seller guaranteed it was ready to run, but when I first got it, it showed that the rear shock mounts on the chassis were broken... I then started looking for a new chassis, which I found. In the meantime, I tried different tricks to soften the rear damper, as this thing is so stiff that there is no way the new chassis won't break again. Lighter oil won't help, I changed the O-ring it doesn't help either, it basically looks like the metal piston is just too big to let any kind of "supple" damping happenl. So, here's my question - how do Hunters drive anyway? I'm wondering to which extent I shouldn't keep this one as a shelf "queen" (although the car itself doesn't look that fantastic), instead of trying to fix the rear damping issue and be disappointed by the riding characteristics anyway... I've run a few vintage cars recently, and as I also race modern ones on a regular base and at a decently competititve leve, I'm always disappointed at how they ride... What do you think? Paul
  10. Hi there, I have a NiB Bulldog Rollcage, with the included lexan driver... all new, complete. 35GBP + s&h and it's yours Paul
  11. have fun guys... cheap price for kit #14 of Tamiya's lineup http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=STRK:MESELX:IT Thanks, Paul
  12. Hi guys There are very few 58014 on ebay these days... hence it's hard to evaluate how much they're worth. There's one for sale at my track, it's pretty much complete minus the driver's head, and is dirty but in decent shape (wing is intact)... any idea how much this'd be worth? Thanks! http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp83/Us...a%20RM%2058014/ Paul
  13. I couldn't resist and I picked it up indeed... but my trx-1 project's budget is getting out of hand (see oople for instance) and I have to get some cash back quick as the vintage race I'll race the traxxas in is on March 20thz... so off to ebay it went. No weird BiN price, just an old-skool auction with a no reserve price and low start ($50)... Paul

    Does Anybody R/c Sail?

I do the occasional vintage sailing session too... I have a fully restored Robbe Rainbow, which is a very, very entry-level boat. The project was to go sailing for as cheap as possible, I paid EUR50 for the boat shipped, salvaged a 2-ch radio for it with fixed junk Prafa servos, cable tensioners are made out of old servo arms, wing rigidifiers out of an old PTFE bottle, ikea hooks to hold cables to the hull, venilia tape for windows, and so on so forth... and she sails a treat, very satisfying low-$ project. I agree RC sailing is quite enjoyable, but is missing the adrenalin rush of running an RC car on a track though will try to post pics later on... gotta find them first! Paul
  21. 25 simultaneous readers Re LiFe - afaik, 5C charges... but **** discharge rates compared to Lipo. Of course, for the mighty 540SH powerplant this should be plenty enough haha! Note that 5C charges is quite a feat to achieve with a "normal" charger and PS combo if your battery is anything more than, say, 1.5Ah To those of you who are crying their lungs out because of how much money you "lost" on these NiB kits you just bought a few weeks ago... hey, you are the ones who made the vintage market like it is today, ie something a lot of vintage enthusiasts can't (or shall I now say couldn't?) afford to enjoy any more... It was long overdue that that trend reverses. Investing 101: nothing is risk-free Hopefully this will also weed out some of the borderline ebay evil sellers who were actually making somewhat of a living off the vintage nib kits just because they could (didn't quote any names, mind you). Flame me if you want, but I say, bring on more re-re's tamiya! Me wants supershots, 959's, Avante's, Astute's!!! Forget about the selected few who suddenly cry over the value of their collection dropping tenfold, they aren't the true enthusiasts anyway! We, the joe schmoes of vintage RC collecting, are! Give us what we need and can afford! Thank you Mr. Tamiya! Paul (PS: just pre-ordered two )

  23. my goodness what would it have been if 28yokid had tried a real man's motor My FD also keeps loosing wheelnuts. Not sure why, the thread on the axles is probably "vintage" Serrated wheelnuts (not necessarily locknuts btw) are your best bet agains it. Get some Hot Bodies ones, the ones for the Moorespeed Cyclone. Not cheap, but available separately. If you put the 9T back in make with these wheels make sure you gear down. Gravel track? you're indeed better off with the slowest motor you can find as you won't be able to lay power down anyway... especially with a sensorless BL like the hobbywing ones. You also might want to consider tires with less studs and more space between then as such minispikes will "glide" above the loose surface and you'll be driving on ice. Anyway - have fun no matter what Paul

    Re Realise Bommerang

Hi there I'm not sure I'm getting the point of dropping relatively big, modern motors in vintage cars (re-re or not). It only highlights how incompetent they were in the days (boomy was the worst understeering car, ever) in the first place, and how much time has taken its toll on them now 20+ years have passed through... last but not least parts are not as easily available for re-re as they are for modern cars... how about just getting a modern 4WD for barely more money than the boomer, that will perform infinitely better and be way more reliable instead? Would you drop a blown 2L subaru mill in your 1962 VW beetle? Paul

    M-03 Mini Cooper, Vintage?

as long as it's in production and available in nib by the bucketload for $70 a pop on ePay, doesn't qualify as vintage to me... Paul
