  1. Ok here is the new rig in the fleet.. ;D I went down the KS to do some biz and met up with Ed and picked up some parts and another rig from him. The body is the best hand made body I have seen it is a perfect match to the kenny right down to the molding around the windows. Here is a list of what is on it. Custom made poly Kenworth body 3 racing full alloy rims Custom made kenny steps Custom made tanks Custom made rear light plate Custom made grill EBH air ride EBH fenders PMD 4:1 Alloy gear reduction Doc Gear sound unite Futaba 6EXAP remote PMD Blank PMD Swan PMD Drive Shaft Custom Lights and Stacks And custom curtain side trailer with lift axle and 3 racing rims PMD rear bumper, Alum fenders, Lights, and Taz trailer frame rails.. With the lights on.
  2. Well while I was in Indy I fell head over heals for a rig and when I found out it was for sale I had to have it! Thanks ED. now I am not going to change much on this truck I will be putting a cat under the hood and putting low pros on the lift axle but other than that I am just going to redo the side of the hood so it is all one piece and that way it will also have the 1 inch ext in front of the steps so I can put lights in that spot to. I will also do super singles on the front I picked up some other parts from Ric and I ordered RC4WD punisher drive shaft for this truck and the hay hauler today you can get them in any lenght you just have to ask. So the list looks like this 55 Turn 6 tooth pnion GD600 gear reduction MFU PMD blank with lights robbe low pro tires cat die cast motor and rad under the hood hidden servo for 5th wheel custom rear light bar Super singles PMD blank with lights RC4WD punisher drive shaft And lots of LEDs. and a few other odds and ends. Well I am getting things together to build the Blue Heavy Hauler Pete and with not much room in the body I needed to make the gear box more compact as so to fit the Diecast Cat motor and the 3 speed tranny. I took a 2:1 gear reduction and mount it backwards on the tranny this way I have it as compact as I can and also get more gear reduction and also you can change up the gearing by changing up the gears in the reduction. Much Smaller than the Highlift Very nice and low price gear reduction for only 39.95
  3. Here is a little update. today i took a little time and made some steal rims like Stu makes and want a pain they are to make not sure i will make many more of them.. I also got my cap head screws painted and cleared to match the body i will keep working away on details.. AFTER BEFORE Yeah it is crazy but the old steelys did it in the looks department..Now what do I do with the new full set of top cad rims i have coming? I think I will put the 2 alum fronts on the truck and use the rears on my green box trailer.. Just a little update on my Frieghtliner truck build I have installed a MFU in it and to stick with the stock look I made some stock tail lights with Rev lights in the lower half of tail light. I made them to fit a King Hauler red tail light... Well I got most of the final details done on the truck I have a few left but nothing major. I finished my Budd rims and made axle ends with moon covers on them. Also got the brass CB whip done stock white with red tip, a boot brush on the drivers fuel tank. Got the rest of the decals done are family farms DOT numbers on the sleeper side and waring tags on the fuel tank and I got the MFU all installed and I got some picks of the tail lights.. Brake and Tail light Rev Light
  4. Well since I do some of my best work late at night or early morning here is some of the finish picks of my 2004 Frieghtliner..Body and paint is done..This truck is my most stock rig ever I went semi gloss black on all the frame and a really cool silver tan sort of color I will get some out door picks later today..I still have to wire it and order a MFU for it and i have a set of alum rims comming for it but I am thinking of only useing the front alum rims and making bud steel rims for the rear. I am also waiting on a punisher shaft so I can do the double drive shaft with the bearing block..But enuff jawing here is the picks.
  5. OK back on Task I seam to have a issue with that when it comes to my projects.. ;D back on the Frieghtliner truck. I have all the body work done I have one more 320 sand left them one coat of finish primer and then color I will have the body done and detailed out by Sunday sometime I would think. Still on the look out for a new Knight Hauler grill "Joe did Ed check with you on one for me?" anyways somebody jacked my rear rims....ED :'( LOL Just joking I have new Alum ones coming for it..I will be wraping this one up soon..
  6. I started ruffing the roof top out tonight and mocked it up on a frame with the tanks.. have gotten a little body work done and have made the new frame and mounted the stacks and the mounting brackets for them also I have made a new mounting bracket for the front bumber to move it back even with the body. I will get some more body work this weekend...
  7. I found a truck on the net in the Truck Paper and I had all the parts laying around to build it out of spares I decided to go for it. Now I am not a big Fruitliner fan but I liked the look of this truck and I have not seen another one like it on the board. So I am going after a Frieghtliner c1126 century class truck sort of a plain truck but nice and the other cool thing is I can modd a body that has not been messed with much on the board. So starting with the Knight Hauler I cut the sleeper down a 1 1/4 inches.. Next I cut a wedge out of the sides of the hood a little better than a 1/4 of a inch After I cut the wedges out of the hood I cut the fenders free from the cab as so I could move them back a 1/8 inch so the front edge of the hood would line back up but I forgot to take a pick of this.. After I cut the fenders loose I started gluing the hood and the fenders back together and pitching the hood down and this is what I ended up with..
  8. Ok I got the draw bar built tonight as close as I could to the picks on there web sight. I built it out of 2 pieces of square brass tubing one slid inside of each other and then a piece of square key stock slid inside of the brass. Then I soldered 2 brass tabs on it. 4 chains 3 links long hook it to the tow arm and the rest you can see in the picks. And here is the different ways they show on there sight to sling a rig. Axle sling Front Axle Sling Then Frame Hitch Looks better on the Fruitliner [/b]
  9. I seen a 5th wheel EZ-Tow a guy built over on scale 4x4 and I ave wanted one for sometime so I set off to build one. I started by making templets out of oak tage and then traced them onto a piece of 1/4 alum plate and cut them out on my vertical mill "band saw" and then smoothed the edges up with a DA with 180 grit paper on it. Then I drilled the holes I needed to bolt it together with and a hole pattern for so design other than blank rails. Next the pivot point was made out of left over chunks of box trailer rails. And then mounted to the main plate with the king pin in it. Then I traced out and drilled bent and mounted the upright and also mounted the winch that will lift the boom. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g276/theonlytamiyacowboy/IMG_0610-1.jpg[/img
  10. I got a little paint and decals on the Oil Rig trailer a week ago just did not have tiome to get picks up so here they are.. I also got a new King Pin Plate milled out of derlin that lynn made for me I am trying it out for him. They are just perfect and there is much less friction between the trailer and 5th wheel also the derlin wont mark up the painted 5th wheels like the alum plate does. [/b]
  11. I got the back plate made on the trailer last night it came out perfect I just have to do some finish work to it to clean it up and mount a brace on the back side for when I am winching loads up. Here are some picks of how they winch onto the trailer..the trailer lay's down on the ground perfectly just like it should. And a few other picks..
  12. Well I got a great little package in the mail today. Lynn made me some new hubs for the beast and I must say WOW I was blown away when I opened the box and seen them I could not wait to get them on the rig.. How they look in the wheel. Full View They really finish off the look of the wheel I am very happy with them and the quality of them is 2nd to no other.. Greg wanted some side by sides so here you go Greg keep in mind teh body will be about 1/4 high when mounted.
  13. I got a little time this weekend to start on the trailer of the Oil Field Rig. Stock tamiya flat bed trailer with F350 leafs and CR01 wheels and tires I have added a rub rail and the roller on the nose of the trailer I still have the rear plate and roller left to do and leg and lights.
  14. I got some more done late last night..It has not been a very good build weekend but I did get a little done. I got the tranny mounted. I used some milled shock mounts for the F350 they were the perfect size and hole pattern. I also got 2 of the 3 drive shafts in my other one did not show yet. Then I got the steering done. I used bigger alum tie rods and emaxx ball joints and I added alum black drive hubs and junked the plastic ones. I also used a 645 for the steering and a 5626 for the shifting. Then i thought a set of these were fitting since it would be 11.4 Lipo and a 55 turn with a 8 tooth. And the rig is getting a full set of custom milled hubs
  15. I got a little more detail work done late last night on the rig. I made a movable 5th wheel and 5th wheel ramps. And as you can see in the picks above I also added a RC4WD King Kong hook. Then I added a edge for the chain box out of brass angle. Then I made square blinkers out of 3/8 square tube and cut the King hauler amber light to fit. And I also added brush guards out of brass over the blinkers.
  16. Now i built the tire rack for the back of the cab and I got building and did not take picks but here are some afters. All alum sheet and angle taped and screwed together with a chain rack on the passenger side. Now to build the drum winch. I am not going to make the winch itself work but it will work. :-/ Heres teh parts we need.. Ok here is how I am making the winch work. i am mounting one of the good scale German winches. the winch that started all the other winches nice thing about these is they will pull ALOT of weight with out breaking. Then I mounted a fair led in the top of the deck for the cable to come threw and wrapped the cable around the drum. So when you run the winch teh drum will turn . Now i still have alot of detail to go plus the trailer still needs to be built. [/b]
  17. Now to build the fenders, I built them out of 1/8 to make them good and strong. Now I had to modd some stock KH air cleaners to match the ones on the real truck. Air cleaner on the fender.
  18. I deiced to over haul my 6x6 rock crawler and go with something more scale. I try ed to have it done for Indy this year but the black truck was being to much of a pain in my rear. So while I was waiting for my supplys for the fire truck build I deiced to get it back out of the closet and get going with it. SO here it is I am going off the KW 963 family of trucks. Witch there is many different ways you can order one of these monsters this is the one I liked most. I started with a new frame 26 inches long with FH12 frame rail tips. Next to shorten the sleeper by a 1 1/4 Then I cut the fenders off and angled the nose down and I lowered the sleeper to match the roof of the cab. Now to start filling the hood back in.
  19. Thanks Guys. I am working on putting all my builds on here it will take me a bit but Ill get it done. I am trying to have the fire truck done in a week or so. I am building it for a customer.
  20. Well I started the big task of wiring this beast. There are still plenty of one off parts I will have to make as I install the lights and MFU.I wanted to make this set up as easy for the owner to use as I could and make the inside of the cab as clean as i could so all you see is the seats and dash. I mounted the speaker in the bed of the truck and built a box around it so i could upholster it with black cloth. Then I was going to mount the MFU control's in the bed of the truck under the floor by the battery but that is not real user friendly so i built the hoes rack and mounted it inside of that with a opening on top. Also I mounted the reviver away from everything to keep it clear of power fields.
  21. Well here are the headlight pods for the front of the fire and I also made the blinkers too. So here they are mounted on the truck with the blinkers.
  22. I spent a bunch of time last night working on the head light pods. They took me sometime to build I took 1/4 PVC sheet and carved them out with a dremel and a knife. I used PMD square light lenses. I have them out in the shop in primer Ill get better picks today of them finished. I am hoping to get them mounted on the truck tonight. [/b]
  23. Been working on more detail today i did the door lines and added the compartment door round turn door handles and made 2 of the 8 cab spot lights. [/b]
  24. Here we go on the rest of tonight's update. OK I put the new hazard decal on the rear of the truck and I also made the rear tail lights and did the tread plate on the rear step and up the sides in the rear and made the alum deck for the hose bed. I also got the black strip added to the body between the red and the white and I added the grill onto the cab for the last time and glued the wheel flairs also I am final crossing things off the build list on this project. Also I got the frame prepped and paint a semi gloss black. Then I also got the frame put back together and added the drive shaft and steering rod and shift rod. Add the new hazard decal on the front bumper and replaced the tread plate on the top of the bumper and added it to the frame. Here is a few picks of the pump body put on the frame for the last time with the cab witch will come off and on a few more times I will start some wireing and more detail tomorrow. [/b]
  25. Ok got alot done tonight on the truck. It took me some time to make the windows and get them fitted and glued but I got them done. I made the windows out of clear PVC .08 cut and glued the side ones. The front window I cut the window out 1/8 larger than the opening and then I heated the edge of the window with a hair dryer and used a 1/2 wooden doll to curve the PVC till it was cooled. [/b]
