Wow, in £'s that's the same price as now with Banzai. That really is crazy. So cheap.
-
And they've got their 'biggest new year sale ever' coming too. Now that WILL be bonkers.
-
Agreed. The insane Egress price has done it I think, its made everyone aware of their site. I mean I've got 3 from them, each costing sub £265 door to door. That is, plain and simply, crazy money. In fact, is that cheaper than the original back in the day?

What do you use for your tyre lettering? That looks super neat. On my sports bike I used to have a special pen for tyre painting, but my bike was a tad bigger than an RC car lol. Ooops, replied to the wrong person, that was meant for @ralphee

Wow really? I mean I've bought a lot of cars and a ridiculous amount of parts from them over the years, but to all the emails I've ever sent them, I've never, ever had even one reply. I did get one guy come back to me on their online chat/help thing once, but never a single reply to an email. Their prices, superb. Their shipping time (if in stock), superb. Their customer service outside of a 'perfect order'...The single worst I've ever come across in my entire shopping lifetime. BUT, one blip out of a bazillion orders aint too bad and it hasnt put me off ordering again. Its just a lottery as to whether they have stock.

Ha haaaa.

Cheers dude. Once I've got my other 3 2001's polished up and my last Egress shell done, I'm going to do a massive chassis family shoot. 3 vintage Egress's, 1 Egress re-re, 4 2001's, 1 vintage Avante, 1 Avante BS, 1 Avante 2011 and lastly, the ugly sister, the Vanquish (TamiyaEra will hate me for that comment Should make for some good shots.

This was my situation. I heard nothing, a month later paypal refunded me, still with no reply from Banzai. Not like them at all. Very odd.
-
I'm using an original 2001 driver so I've not got the issue as yet. I'd never personally drill a carbon chassis plate, I'd find some other way of attaching it. Most likely, I'd get some glue and a sheet of plastic to re-create the original
-
The 2001 is one of Tamiya's prettiest cars by far IMO. Its an underrated beauty. Bloomin love this car. For the sake of my wallet, Tamiya, dont do a full re-re, as I'll end up buying something stupid, like 4 of'em.
-
Ooooooh I'm inspired now, I think I'm going to do a pink one...as with a set of Avante BS pink wheels on, this would look sick...actually, maybe black Egress wheels thinking about it.
-
I've never done the wet method either, but I'm guessing its the same as a airfix kit...ish. Only you dont soak these, I guess you wet the surface, stick down and then leave to dry. I'll be damned if I'm trying it, just in case I make an even bigger mess lol.

Yeah big time! The other side went on perfectly, without a hitch, but this side, oh man, I almost cried. I got half of it on just right and the whoops, the other end stuck its self down due to static and that was that. I tried to pull it up but it tore in 3 places, so I then spent 20 mins trying to tidy that mess up lol. Soooooooo challenging.

Here you go Avante 2001 fans, I've just finished up my re-re body and mounted it on my vintage 2001 chassis. The quality all round is stunning, its a great shell. I just need to find some time to complete the driver now. I used to do A LOT of scale modelling and Games Workshop figure painting, so I tend to really get into the fine detail on these things. Only 3 more to do now

For anyone interested, here's the Avante 2001 re-re bodyshell mounted on an original Avante 2001...

Well, I'm sad to say that I had to let Paypal deal with my £350 messed up order. Banzai just never replied. Today I got my full refund from Paypal. Such an odd situation as I've had order prior to this and since this one that have gone smoothly. When they have stock, they're the perfect company to order from, but when they dont, they are basically useless. I'm even beginning to wonder if I'd have ever got my refund at all if I'd left with them, it has been a month since my order now. I'm refunded now, so that's all I'm fussed about.

My 2 Egress's arrived today with a MMMMMMMMMMMMMMASSIVE import bill...hold on, no, wait, it was only £35 Winner, thanks Banzai. Annoyingly, that outstanding order from a month ago is still in the air. I got a mail a week ago from them, apologising and promising to sort it out as a priority...I've heard nothing since grrrrrrrrrrrr. This is 100% down to issues with their staffing an order backlog, I know it. Sadly, as I want my £350 back now, I'm letting paypal sort it for me as after 20+ attempts to contact Banzai, its just sat there, doing nothing. Shame, as I really dont like opening cases on companies, especially ones that give top service normally. Odd.

Dude, un-subscribe from this **** evil thread. I was only buying one...and somehow now have 4 and that is all down to this continual Egress chatter. Go on then man, spill, how many have you got now?
-
Lol, well, it would appear that they've not been opened as the Egress over here is £399, so if they'd opened them up, the duty would have been based on £798...which would have been VERY expensive. So a big thanks to Banzai on this order for marking the price as it should be I just wish Banzai would sort out my other order that's been lingering around for nigh on a month now
-
Ha, yeah, they're coming. They're not in my hands yet (I rang them for the total) as here in the UK they spend about 6 days at customs, then go to a national hub for 1 day, then they send you a letter 2 days later, then you have to pay online aaaaaaaaaaaaand then they'll deliver 2 days after that lol. So there's a good 4 days before I'll get them yet. I hate the UK for all its red tape.
-
Result, the import duty is £35 for both the Egress's together, faaaaaaantastic. That makes a grand total of £501 for two Egress or £250.50 each. Now that has made my day. I've spent more than this on Egress fixer-uppers over the years. Happy man
-
Still no joy with my order. £350 down, 23 days on and still nothing. Paypal will hopefully be making the decision on Thursday so fingers crossed I get my money back.
-
Thanks man. 1 is staying NIB (this is the second one from my last buy) and the new two are going to be gifts for my boys when they get older. My eldest is 4 this month and is already RC obsessed. He's got a VW wheelie camper and a Farmking. My youngest will get something similar as he gets older. My son that is 4 already knows the Tamiya symbol as he saw it on my t-shirt and said 'daddy, that says radio controlled trucks!' ha haaa. I'm training them well.

Ahhh I love this wonderful country. My Egress's left Banzai and landed here within 2 days...and now they've been sat with customs for a further 3 days, now 'awaiting customs charging' how wonderful. Thanks UK, you suck, as always.
-
'International Hub Awaiting Customs clearance'... I'm sweating right now as this is for the next two...please god don't hit me too hard with fee's.
