Hey chaps, Just shot a super quick video of the Egress in action. Nothing special, just stuck my phone on the ground and drove up and down the street a couple of times, but you'll get a good feel for the car none the less.
-
Ooooh nicely done man! My second one has come in at £337.50 (Fusion) which is still a pretty tidy price, and with my Banzai price of £290 all in, the grand total for two has been £627.50, which is £130 than I'd budgeted as I was convinced these bad boys would eventually set me back nearer £400 a pop.
-
Not one? You crrrrrrrrazy man You've now got 8 Avante 2001's to buy...or store them for 2 years and stick each one up for sale for £100 each My 4 are going on my 4 2001's. 1 restored to a really nice condition, 1 minter with every official hop-up on you could imagine, 1 average condition runner and one awaiting restoration this winter. By next summer, all will be sporting lovely new shells
-
Good god man, I thought me buying 4 was a tad excessive I take it you've got quite a few 2001's?
-
Yeah a brief run and it handles it just fine IMO but I've not put it through its paces to really test it I guess.
-
Some nasty bugs doing the rounds, both my little'ns are ill and I'm going downhill fast. Get plenty of pre-egress building rest my good man
-
BOOOM! Fusion Hobbies have just dispatched their Egress's!
-
Yeah the limited UK stock is hitting our shores now. I'm guessing wonderland are supplied by the same folks as Fusion as they've said and done the same. Purely out of curiosity, I'd love to know the 'official' figure for how many were made in this batch. I know not every tamiya fan on the globe trawls and chats on this forum, but I'd be pretty sure that a good chunk of the core fanbase resides here. I'm betting us guys have sucked up the vast majority of the ones made to date. My Avante 2001 bodies have been purchased now too, so once my last Egress (vintage) gets sprayed up and decal'd and the 4 2001 shells arrive and my vintage 2001's look beeeeeeeautiful, I'm heading out to the countryside to do some photography. Gonna make for a killer shoot.
-
Ordered 2 from Stella and 2 from RCMart. I figured if I didn't shell out for these now I'd only regret it later when they were gold dust 12 months from now. My 4 2001's will thank me for this. This is what I'm telling myself anyway...my wallet disagrees though.

You been busted dude?

Bargain NIB Vajra on eBay for anyone after parts! http://bit.ly/18GPxLX
-
Yey, that pre-order at Fusion paid off! Apparently though the supplier only has enough to cover the pre-orders that they've already got placed. **** these things are popular!
-
Ooooh nice one, that means that Fusion will be getting their order then, rock on!

On truth I fit old tech in all my cars bar my df03 but this time I fancied something different. Do you not find that old electronics suffer with terrible interference these days? All 8 of my non 2.4ghz runners stutter like mad in their acoms setups and that never used to happen as a kid. My sons wheelie camper has a mind of its own lol. I just thought to myself, if the egress was launched today, what would go in it, and the 9.5 brushless seemed like a solid modern day alternative to a dynatec. Oh and the blue rod ends just seem to clash with the gold My Avante 2001 runner is stock vintage all the way bar it's tamiya esc.
-
I've got a df03 running brushless (old etronics one faster than this) with a tamiya plug and have caned that with no problems. Ran it so hard for so long that I've got bored. Never had an issue. I've also dialed the power back on this one so should be fine Famous last words lol.
-
Apologies if my photo's are causing arguments lol. Colour wise, they are indeed the same in person, its just the photo that is throwing the light in a weird way.
-
Oh and I'll make a big deal out of that little photoshoot, take the cars somewhere picturesque, take my works camera and do some proper photoshoot business
-
Ha, yeah the body is cut and awaiting paint/decals. I thought I had a spare can around here but I cant find it, looks like I may need to order another. My Avantes are going to get brought in for a massive family photo soon, I may even extend the photo to include original Avante's too, not just 2001's. So the line up will look like this... Egress Original Egress Original Egress/Avante 2001 Hybrid (the one from Tamiyaegress.com which isnt strictly a 100% Egress) Egress re-re Avante 2001 Avante 2001 Avante 2001 Avante 2001 Avante Original Avante 2011 Avante Black Special OMG that looks stupid when I make a list, why do I buy these things, why, why why? What is wrong with me...[boots up eBay to look for the next purchase].

Hmm yeah, the wires are marking the paint already. I've ordered some clear vinyl wrap to cover the inside of the shell (its only £2). I dont fancy shortening the wires due to maybe using this setup in another car later down the line and I'm not too handy with soldering etc. The brushless sensor cable is a pain in the back end too, its so stiff that it restricts what you can do. I'll have a play around see what I can achieve. It looks neat with the shell on though ha ha haaaaa.
-
Ha, well, its all cable tied, but I cant find a way of holding it down to anything, its just too tight in there. Any ideas?
-
Awwww and here's a nice family photo of the re-re with his vintage brothers. This has inspired me to finish the body on my last vintage too, looks kinda naked with no shell on.
-
Cheers buddy! I always do two coats and if the colour needs it, a third. My first coat is a dusting and the second is thicker. Always worked in the past and uses most of a PS tin. The finish turned out really nice on this one too. Spent 1 1/2 hours on the decals as I was being super careful Almost seems too nice to run now, but I think it has inspired me to ensure I buy a second, solely so that I can run this and rest safe in the knowledge that I have another
-
Oh yeah, batteries guys, they basically don't fit! I had to butcher the battery retainer to make this very basic HPI 4500mah stay in. Basically, it'll only hold the smallest of 7.2v batteries. If you're thinking of sticking a lipo in, test someone else's to see if it fits first. Space is at a premium here!
-
Hey guys, Finished the build, painting and decals last night...she's complete! AAAAABSOLUTELY EPIC! http://tamiyaegress.com/ I'm going to do some videos of this baby running ASAP! Hope you enjoyed the build steps, its been a blast putting it all together. Totally lived up to the dream!
-
I spent last night prepping my electrics for installation tonight. And now that I'm getting tantalisingly close to running this baby, its dawned on me...I don't want to flip it at any point and trash those lovely shocks and that shiny shock tower, so I came up with a solution! http://tamiyaegress.com/?p=256 Only issue is, I have no way of making these parts, short of going down to the local steel works again, but that cost me an arm and leg for the BF8's and BF9's, Hmmm, now looking for a way of getting these made!
