  1. I ordered from Tamico in Germany, they just emailed me to say they are shipping now!

Total price £320 shipped and no customs fees to pay as they are in the EU, should be here in 2-3 days.

Ooooh nicely done man! My second one has come in at £337.50 (Fusion) which is still a pretty tidy price, and with my Banzai price of £290 all in, the grand total for two has been £627.50, which is £130 than I'd budgeted as I was convinced these bad boys would eventually set me back nearer £400 a pop.

  2. Sadly not one :( .

This is why i have gone over board on this :D.

Or was it so i had more than you  ..

Not one? You crrrrrrrrazy man ;) You've now got 8 Avante 2001's to buy...or store them for 2 years and stick each one up for sale for £100 each ;)

My 4 are going on my 4 2001's. 1 restored to a really nice condition, 1 minter with every official hop-up on you could imagine, 1 average condition runner and one awaiting restoration this winter. By next summer, all will be sporting lovely new shells :)

  3. Not only am I going to run it, I'm also planning on racing it in my local track's vintage class. I have a load of upgrades to fit during the build, and will be running a 9.5 or 10.5 Speed Passion setup. My TRF201XR has a SP 8.5, and that thing flies. I think that a motor that quick will cause excessive wear on the gearing, especially as there is no slipper clutch.

Thanks chap. Not got any sleep at all last night as my throat is just so sore! :(

Have you had a chance to run your Egress with the 9.5 SP motor yet? I'm intrigued to know how this chassis handles this much power.

Yeah a brief run and it handles it just fine IMO but I've not put it through its paces to really test it I guess.

  4. Just had a despatch email for my Egress. It will be delivered tomorrow.

Got sent home from work today as I apparently 'look like poo!' I suppose the good thing is that I will be at home to take delivery, but I will have to set the alarm for the estimated delivery time so I don't sleep through and miss them!

Some nasty bugs doing the rounds, both my little'ns are ill and I'm going downhill fast. Get plenty of pre-egress building rest my good man ;)

  5. Just had my invoice email from Wonderland Models this morning, and my card has been charged.

Think it may be on the way, and hopefully with me this week. Pretty sure I've got the flu currently (been sitting in a fully heated office, shivering like mad), So the build will have to wait until the Christmas holiday, which was my plan anyway.

Yeah the limited UK stock is hitting our shores now. I'm guessing wonderland are supplied by the same folks as Fusion as they've said and done the same.

Purely out of curiosity, I'd love to know the 'official' figure for how many were made in this batch. I know not every tamiya fan on the globe trawls and chats on this forum, but I'd be pretty sure that a good chunk of the core fanbase resides here. I'm betting us guys have sucked up the vast majority of the ones made to date.

My Avante 2001 bodies have been purchased now too, so once my last Egress (vintage) gets sprayed up and decal'd and the 4 2001 shells arrive and my vintage 2001's look beeeeeeeautiful, I'm heading out to the countryside to do some photography. Gonna make for a killer shoot.

  6. Hi all.

I emailed Wonderland Models today to see if there was any news on an ETA for UK Egress stocks, and they said that the UK distributor had taken delivery of them today, and Wonderland would be receiving their allocation early next week, with delivery shortly after.

So that's pretty good news for anyone who ordered one in the UK!

    :)

Ooooh nice one, that means that Fusion will be getting their order then, rock on!

  7. I have an idea!. Put all that modern speed passion stuff in a modern race car and fit an adspec radio and cpr unit and dynatech motor!. That will be the cherry on a very sweet cake!. I just bought an expec cpr-01 radio set from an xb tt01 but the cpr unit is massive!. I am hoping the original cpr units out the vintage catalogues will be considerably smaller. They seem to be in pics?. I will sell the expec set and try one out or failing that I may go with the futaba esc/ tamiya bz motor as shown in the regress adverts. Ps out of interest how come you did not fit blue rod ends?. I thought i read you we're going to?. I have mine ready and waiting.

On truth I fit old tech in all my cars bar my df03 but this time I fancied something different. Do you not find that old electronics suffer with terrible interference these days? All 8 of my non 2.4ghz runners stutter like mad in their acoms setups and that never used to happen as a kid. My sons wheelie camper has a mind of its own lol.

I just thought to myself, if the egress was launched today, what would go in it, and the 9.5 brushless seemed like a solid modern day alternative to a dynatec.

Oh and the blue rod ends just seem to clash with the gold :(

My Avante 2001 runner is stock vintage all the way bar it's tamiya esc.

  8. Actually brushless draws less current from your battery for a given level of power (because it's more efficient).

    But still good luck. :D

I've got a df03 running brushless (old etronics one faster than this) with a tamiya plug and have caned that with no problems. Ran it so hard for so long that I've got bored. Never had an issue.

I've also dialed the power back on this one so should be fine :) Famous last words lol.

  9. The colour of the re-re decal looks identical to me. That last photo of Mike's just makes the orange look yellow due to the lighting, presumably from the camera flash.

Apologies if my photo's are causing arguments lol. Colour wise, they are indeed the same in person, its just the photo that is throwing the light in a weird way.

  10. you need a body for your last naked chassis ;)

Great family,,what about youe Avantees? they are also part of the family :) ( dont make them Sad )

    lool

Ha, yeah the body is cut and awaiting paint/decals. I thought I had a spare can around here but I cant find it, looks like I may need to order another. My Avantes are going to get brought in for a massive family photo soon, I may even extend the photo to include original Avante's too, not just 2001's. So the line up will look like this...

    Egress Original

    Egress Original

Egress/Avante 2001 Hybrid (the one from Tamiyaegress.com which isnt strictly a 100% Egress)

    Egress re-re

    Avante 2001

    Avante 2001

    Avante 2001

    Avante 2001

    Avante Original

    Avante 2011

    Avante Black Special

OMG that looks stupid when I make a list, why do I buy these things, why, why why? What is wrong with me...[boots up eBay to look for the next purchase].

  11. Hmm, not having hands on, its hard to say, but maybe flip the ESC around to face the motor, and shorten the wires? They look like they maybe eat the paint of your very, very gorgeous body shell! Cable ties are a pain with wiring, shrink tubing is a good way of keeping it super neat Mark. Coiling RX and servo wires also works well to lose some length!

    lee

Hmm yeah, the wires are marking the paint already. I've ordered some clear vinyl wrap to cover the inside of the shell (its only £2). I dont fancy shortening the wires due to maybe using this setup in another car later down the line and I'm not too handy with soldering etc. The brushless sensor cable is a pain in the back end too, its so stiff that it restricts what you can do. I'll have a play around see what I can achieve. It looks neat with the shell on though ha ha haaaaa.

  12. Excellent job with body. Neat and clean...:-)

How many coats of paints you made mate?!

Cheers buddy! I always do two coats and if the colour needs it, a third. My first coat is a dusting and the second is thicker. Always worked in the past and uses most of a PS tin. The finish turned out really nice on this one too. Spent 1 1/2 hours on the decals as I was being super careful :) Almost seems too nice to run now, but I think it has inspired me to ensure I buy a second, solely so that I can run this and rest safe in the knowledge that I have another ;)

  13. Oh yeah, batteries guys, they basically don't fit!

I had to butcher the battery retainer to make this very basic HPI 4500mah stay in. Basically, it'll only hold the smallest of 7.2v batteries. If you're thinking of sticking a lipo in, test someone else's to see if it fits first. Space is at a premium here!

  14. I spent last night prepping my electrics for installation tonight. And now that I'm getting tantalisingly close to running this baby, its dawned on me...I don't want to flip it at any point and trash those lovely shocks and that shiny shock tower, so I came up with a solution!

    http://tamiyaegress.com/?p=256

Only issue is, I have no way of making these parts, short of going down to the local steel works again, but that cost me an arm and leg for the BF8's and BF9's, Hmmm, now looking for a way of getting these made!
