  1. I look at it this way , if stella can sell it at that rate & making money , HOW much are the other shops making ?.

There must be a very big markup .

    So you getting the 6 , like you wanted ?. :P ....

Yeah makes you wonder. The cost of bodyshells here in the UK is disgraceful. You're talking at least twice the cost of Stella at least I think.

But yeah, at this cost I'd likely buy more than I needed lol. Just in case I come across any more 2001 restoration projects...as lets be honest, 4 is nowhere near enough ;) I love the Egress, but there is something about the 2001 that makes me keep buying them. I think its the whole 'ugly duckling' thing, most folks dont like it, so for some reason, it makes me like it more lol.

  2. If stella was $520 + $60 shipping then that would be more than FusionHobbies UK retail price. Given Fusion offer up to 10% discount that would make then £40 cheaper than Stella delivered.

Stella have got to come in at under $460-470 shipped to UK, otherwise it won't be worth buying from HK - thats ca £310

Even at that price I'd rather pay another £28 locally and not worry about import duties/handling fees etc.

Stella need to be under $450 shipped for my business

Luckily, Tamiya Era said Singapore dollars, so its a good price :) $520 is £260...with postage at say, £35, that's £295, which is bang one what we we're hoping for :)

  3. Being completely obsessed with Egresses and owning (and I know this is nothing compared to some on here) 12 cars on this chassis, I'm obviously running around in circles with pure childlike excitement about all this. I want to make that clear, I'm buzzing about this re-re and the prospect of having a NIB one is turning me into a kid that has just drank a 3 litre bottle of Coke and a bumper pack of Haribo.

Now, with that precursor out of they way, I will say this.

I am honestly gutted that there is no special edition motor to reflect the greatness of the Dyna Tech. This motor was something that I never got to own, or even see as a kid and to me, its kinda like the holy grail. I heard about it, I saw in pictures, but I never saw one for myself, or knew anyone that had. So part of the Egress magic for me is tied to that intensely sexily designed black motor with beautiful gold typography (I'm a designer, I get off of details like fonts etc lol). The fact that Tamiya could have EASILY re-badged one of their existing motors (for the simple cost of a sticker) and bundled it in with this car for what, $40 extra? I'd have chewed their god damned arm off for that.

Please Tamiya marketing crew, see my passion, see my need and make a re-re Dyna Tech motor complete with its own box. I will buy 14, 12 to furnish my current cars on this chassis and the 2 Egress re-re's I've ordered. My wallet is yours to abuse, so let rip, let rip I tell you!

  4. I think we're all buzzing about it, but it's the old case of when you see something mind blowingly awesome, small little imperfections tend to stand out.

Personally I couldn't care less about bonus parts, but as they usually come with new re-re kits, I do like to see what they are...sadly, they're kinda exciting, even if just some ****ty DF03 wheels ;)

  5. Or why they have to make an Avant 2001 shock tower?

The have it in the front Hi cap set. So either they include this as a bonus parts then we have to trim the nose of the body or use the same egress's one.

Is it the same as the 2001 shock tower? I thought it was different? It would certainly fit the 2001 shell that's for sure, but I'm sure its different to the stock 2001 front shock tower. The one in the hi-cap set is the one that is 'H' shaped right? And the one on the 2001 is 'U' shaped...I think.

  6. This may well have already been said, but a 2001 shock tower 'could' be a bonus part on the early kits I guess. That would actually make good marketing sense too. Make the Egress, pack it with a 2001 shock tower and then sell the £40+ bodyset on as an extra. I'm guessing a pretty high percentage of Egress buyers would stump up for that. I certainly would.

Unlesssssss...maybe Tamiya are planning a 2001 full re-re early in the new year? They'd only need to downgrade the material quality of the chassis, shocks and differentials to do so. I'd SOOOO buy a re-re 2001 if they went the whole hog and made it. The 2001 is so unloved in this hobby and its a blissfully brilliant little buggy. Its actually my personal fave for pure driving fun.

Oh Tamiya, how you love to leave us with so many questions.

  7. I'd suggest if anything the pink wheels - they must have a stash of those that aren't ging anywhere fast.

Only issue is whether with blister packs there will be room for such bonus items ?

Well they snuck in a set of DF-03 wheels and a t-shirt into the initial Avante re-re, so those little packing masters will manage something I'm sure ;)

  8. I have a speed passion reventon pro in my vajgress, havnt run it yet though, but it is a high quality sensored system, and there are others running 8.5's in their rere avante's etc.. I have no qualms running an 8.5, i think it'll be fine....

Thanks for the info guys! So, I'm guessing this 9.5 Speed Passion Rev would be totally cool for an Egress then? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/speed-passion-reventon-s-esc-2s-comp-v3.0-9.5r-combo/rc-car-products/379165

Is a 9.5 turn which I'm guessing would be close'ish to an old school Dynatech 02H? That was a 13turn motor right? Or something similar.

  9. Any chance of some advice fella's?

I think I might just go and be all 'modern' and buy a brushless set up for my new Egress. Any tips on a good motor and esc package that would feel similar to a Dynatec in power? I don't want anything insane, just something manageable. I'm also sticking with Nimh's too, as I don't fancy the whole Lipo business.

Do Tamiya do any any reasonable set ups? Also, as someone mentioned earlier, the motor shaft on the modern Sport Tuned isnt long enough for the Egress, so is this something I'd need to bear in mind here too?

    Thanks in advance!
