Well, slight update.......I've started to tidy up the wiring by soldering the ESC directly to the motor and curling the servo wires......I still need to sort the Deans connectors and shorten the steering servo cable though...... Looks a lot better don't you think......
-
So what are the most popular/must have Dark Impact mods?
-
Update.........it now has an MTroniks RV15 ESC......lol

I've just noticed my charger is only capable of charging up to 3500mah......where does this leave me and my spankinginly lovely 4300mah battery....... I'd also like a charger capable of charging 2 battery's at the same time......any recommendations?
-
Oh ******.......thats the ESC I was gonna get to replace my burnt out EVO20.........may have to rethink that now....... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...c=37596&hl= Contact MTroniks....let them know.......

Well I contacted them via their website last night and got a very helpful reply this morning stipulating exactly what you said they would......I'm gonna go for their RV15 ESC for 25......lets hope it lasts better than their previous attempt.......

Tamiya Teu-101bk Electronic Speed Controller
Pubert replied to Teej84's topic in General discussions
Is that strictly true, because I ran my old 2100 then swapped it over for my 4300 and it seemed to make a considerable difference to the acceleration etc.......maybe it's just the placebo effect...... -
Oh yeah......and can anyone recommend me a replacement ESC?
-
Took my bessie out the other day having sorted her out and making her run like a dream.......after about 15 minutes smoke starts appearing from underneath the shell and the ESC has burnt out where the power lead meets the unit.......Its (or was) a MTronik Evo20 running a Venom 21d motor (with a 22t pinion and 58t spur) running on a 4300Mah battery......should this have happened, the ESC apparently can take 20 turn motors and I'm assuming the Venom is 21 turn...... If its not one thing its another hey........

I'm quite tempted to get a buggy as I have some woods near by that are in desperate need of some R/C pounding....(could I sound any nerdier? lol) What in your opinion would be the best bet?

Not that drifting's ma thang but I was gonna get a set of 'Drifting' wheels off of eBay, they're basically just the plastic wheel but its been moulded round so you don't need tyres......should be good for a laugh....
-
Thanks for the advice guys....will look into it......
-
I'm currently running a Vapextech 4300 battery and admittedly haven't had a full run out of it yet but first impressions are great......so much better than my piddly Ansmann 2100 jobbie......

*******in' posties......

Foam tyres? I was gonna opt for slicks with soft inserts but as you say it may pay to observe what the popular choices are on this particular track....

Thanks for the heads up....

Hi all, I'm really keen to try my hand at racing on carpet and realise that probably the most important part of a cars setup (or thereabouts) are the tyres.... Any recomendatiosn?......its for a 1/10th TT-01..... Thanks in advance

Hello again everybody......not been on for a while, I've been delivering aid in Africa but thats another story.... Finally managed to get the parts I needed to get my TT-01 back on the road after a minor collision in Tesco's car park and I also managed to upgrade a few parts...... I added a ball diff at the rear, a front one way unit at the front, changed the entire steering assembly to adonised tamiya racing parts, installed universal joints at the rear ( for some reason I only 1 set so will need to upgrade the front at some point.....I also changed the spur and pinion gear (would a 22t pinion and 58t spur ve the weapon of choice with my motor?).......oh and changed the the body clips and wheel nuts to snazzy adonised blue items....which is nice..... I went out the other with it and was blown away by the difference....it ran like a dream but the problem now was that it was missing a screw on the steering servo and. although with the old setup it never really caused a problem, within the space of 10 or so minutes it had disengaged half a dozen times......so went on eBay and bought a spare parts bag with the necessary screw..... Photos coming soon......as soon as the screw gets here...... So far then.....it stands at.... Venom Fireball 21d Motor Hitec HP-2RNB Receiver Mtroniks Viper ECO20 Electronic Speed Controller Futaba Steering Servo 7.2v NiMH 4300mAh Rechargeable Battery Ball Bearing Set Aluminium Propeller Shaft Aluminium Motor Heat Sink Metal Motor Mount Carbon Upper Frame Toe-In Rear Uprights Aluminium Bumper Stopper Turnbuckle Tie-Rod Set Adjustable Upper Arm Set Stabilizer Set (Front and Rear) GPM Oil Dampers Ball Differential Set Aluminium Racing Steering Set Aluminiun Steering Link 4mm Aluminum Flange Lock Nuts (Blue)...lol Lightweight Differential Ball Set 22T & 23T AV Pinion Gear Set Spur Gear Set (55T/58T) Ball Diff Cup Joint Universal Shaft (Rear) I plan to upgrade the front shafts for universal jobbies, perhaps change the motor and get a new set of wheels and slicks......oh and a new shell.... Any hints tips or suggestions?!?

I do....it was a Peugeot 406 1/10 tourer..and I sold everything...including a fast charger etc for the measly sum of something like £40.......I didn't have a very acute business acumen back then.....dammit....
-
Cheers for the replys guys, I have got it set up at the moment to run reasonably well, I seriously need to replace the tyres as I'm not sure the previous owner added inserts so I think its bouncing around on flats... Mr Snake, thats one fine lookig TT-01 you have there, I'm interedsted in the steering setup, I've noticed there is an unhealthy amount of play in the plasticx units so i will be looking to replace.....any advice?

I would personally prefer a car that went and handled well rather than just looked good....although I wouldn't want a car to look *****s.....
