Well guys, the Brat is now fully built, and started painting tonight ! Already sr=tarted modifying it and it hasn't even run on the ground yet, only in my hand ! Now running a 23T motor and an LRP digital unlimited speed controller. Would like to up the ante a bit on the motor front once I've got used to it, but assume that means I then need to do something with the gearbox. How does it work in RC ? In cars I'd get a Quaife gear kit etc - is there an RC comparitive ie. steel gears or something ? Saying that it should go well as it is, but you know what boys and their toys are like eh ?

I have seen an RS540 Sport Motor on Ebay for 15 delivered which doesn't seem bad - would this offer a decent advantage over and above a standard 540 or do I need to look elsewhere ? I've already replaced the speed controller as ther Blackfoot had the standard 20 year old one and I'm now running a more mopdern set-up but I don't want to have start messing about with gearboxes etc - I'd rather put the money into a petrol / nitro car to be honest. Difference between petrol and nitro cars is a mystery to me still so any guidance there would be great !

Sorry ! Right, want to change the motors on my Blackfoot and Brat. Got the standard boggo 540 on there so will need to fit a direct fit for those, but I need more speed !!!! What do I need guys ? How much do I expect to pay and where do I go ? I expect battery life will be shortened (considerinmg getting a petrol car now - d'oh !) but is battery life prohibited so much as it's not worth doing ? Which then brings me onto petrol cars.......same questions really, what do I want, where from and how much ? Thanks !

Fully loaded TD Focus as the everyday hack which I really rate, and my toy is a concours S1 Escort RS Turbo with a 2 litre conversion. Never use that TBH......I should really.

What would you recommend ? Needs to be a direct replacement for the standard 540. How much, how much quicker ?

Brand new, 80 chap.....whats the benefit of having one? Are they more powerful ? Make the car quicker ? Are they a universal replacement replacement fit for a standard 540 motor ?

Worth buying ? Been offered one................help !

Well..........today I bought what I needed ( thanks Helen ) including detailing paint, servo, 2 new batteries................oh, and another RC car................d'oh !!! It's started already !!! When I was a kid I always wanted a Blackfoot and a Subaru Brat. Saw a brand new Brat on Ebay, along with a set of new drive / halfshafts for the Blackfoot (does anyone else remember them ALWAYS failing ???!!!) so bought those as well...... Slippery slope !!!!!!

Body is painted black now chaps - decals on their way and shopping soon for new servo's and other odds and sods. Hopefully nothing major (fingers crossed)...............

Been priming, painting and compiling a list of stuff that I'm going to need to 'repair' my 'ickle truck...............surprisingly it's not that much (at the moment) but bet it's going to make a serious dent in my wallet ! Still, I've had more expensive hobbies so hopefully this one will be a bit of light relief !!!!

Hi guys After 20 years I've finally decided to get back into radio control and am in the process of painting my Blackfoot ! Going to need some bits and pieces along the way, and with the wonder of the internet which wasn't available when I was a kid decided this was a good place to start.
